  1. It's a Michelin. No way there's an issue with the tires. LOL.
  2. Welcome, Sam, and congrats! Do post pics of your Edge when you get a chance
  3. Classic PTU issues (front differential/transfer case). Hopefully it hasn't chewed up anything else in the process.
  4. It seems only the 2.0 EB has performed the vanishing act on the transmission dipstick.
  5. The problem with catch cans is that there is some dependency on the owner to understand PCV flow under boost and non-boost conditions. Sometimes they don't get enough guidance from the seller, sometimes they decide to omit parts of the system. So understandably, diagnosing a problem with the engine becomes more complicated, which MAY increase the risk of warranty denial. The key is to implement the catch can properly, take your time, do it right.
  6. I personally use OBDLink MX Bluetooth and Forscan Lite as my goto combo. Let's see what this adapter tells you. Veepeak does put out good products IME.
  7. No threads on 2.0 EB Edge intercooler cleaning that I am aware of. Might be on the Escape or Focus forums tho. The norm on the 3.5 EB is to take off the pipe coming off the intercooler going to the throttle body and using the oil dipstick to get a feel for how deep the crud, if any, may be. You could also get a usb borescope to actually view the inside of the intercooler, but if there is stuff, will have to clean it up after. Try taking just the pipe at the throttle body off, check the inside of the pipe and the inside of the throttle body for pooling oil/crud. If they are clean or have just a light misting of oil, most likely the issue lies elsewhere. Read the codes, there may be a random misfire, or misfire at one particular cylinder, etc. P0300-P0304
  8. What, no wheel bearing failure??? They were at it for the PTU/seals so many times, and the TSS/OSS sensors too. There is a service history gap of nearly 5.5 years as well. IDK, I would have my doubts on this one 4 sure. You may have to replace the said same parts again, and in addition, face the other possible failure points that this mileage may bring. If you are a DIY kind of guy, it might be liveable, but if you are paying for service, then I'd say NO.
  9. Need some more details on your Edge. What trim level, engine & transmission do you have? Can you post a video/audio clip of the sound? Wheel bearings typically are isolated by listening while turning to the left/right. Whichever direction the sound goes away, the wheel bearing on that side is defective. http://www.knowyourparts.com/technical-articles/wheel-bearing-service-tips/
  10. Welcome to the forum, Blake, and congrats on the new ride! Got pics to share?
  11. If you want to minimize cost of ownership, you should invest first in an OBD II adapter and software such as Forscan Lite/Torque Pro for your smartphone/tablet. This will give you monitoring and diagnostics capability, especially important for the Ecoboost engines as they are very heavily computer controlled. The stutter could be for multiple reasons, but first thing to do always is to pull codes from the PCM see what it has to say. It could be a low pressure fuel pump, high pressure fuel pump, or fuel injector issue, for instance. The low pressure fuel pump has failed, IIRC, on a couple of people here with 2.0 EB Edges. A fuel injector could be leaking down overnight, but that would be evident on startup as fumes coming out the tailpipe and perhaps increased cranking time. You can monitor your Edge's behavior using the OBD tools mentioned above. I would also check & clean the intercooler. Sometimes crud accumulates in there and gets pulled into the intake, and if enough, can hydrolock the engine. Well worth scoping out. As far as trans fluid goes, as long as it is not burnt and is free of debris, you can perform multiple drain & fills to replace the old fluid safely. NO FLUSHES. Only D/Fs or fluid exchanges. There is no replaceable filter, so a flush can be very dangerous.
  12. If you have E85 available, you can try mixing in a gallon or so to a full tank of regular gasoline to help resolve this issue. No more than E15-E18 final mix content. It will definitely take more effort at every fuelup, but if it works, at least you have an option. Always pump in the E85 first, then the regular gasoline, so it all mixes properly in-tank.
  13. I will get to this later tonite.
  14. If i am reading this correctly, you will need the pcm updated for accurate speedo/odo readings. https://www.tacomaworld.com/tirecalc?tires=265-40r22-265-70r17
  15. From what I have heard, the 2.0 is great for daily driving, but not really a badass towing machine.
  16. I would ask if the coolant pump (water pump) has ever been replaced. It has GREEN coolant in it now, but is it Motorcraft Specialty Green or is it Universal Green etc, hard to know. Motorcraft Specialty Green is actually the upgrade to the Specialty Gold if you decide to have the coolant flushed, as it is nearly time at almost 160K miles. If they open up the timing cover, should ask how much more to replace the timing chain, tensioners, water pump, and VCT solenoids. Frankly I would have that done as preventive maintenace at this mileage. No FLUSH of transmission. How dirty IS the fluid? Does it still smell healthy, or does it have a burnt odor/have debris in it, which should make you suspect transmission issues? If no burnt smell or debris, drain & fill will be in order or a fluid exchange. NO FLUSHES. Have the TSS/OSS sensors ever been replaced? Weak point on the 6F50 transmission, at least for the 2007-10 thus far. May need to replace PTU and RDU (transfer case & differential) fluids, difficult to tell what the condition might be. Were the PTU/RDU ever replaced? Find out how much life left on current struts/shocks. That said, I see the KBB value is about 5500 trade in value for excellent condition SEL AWD, so add a 1,000 for private party pricing. So you are right on the fence with value. Need to ask the owner the questions above.
  17. Ntrain, akirby, I would appreciate it if you could clean up your respective posts in this thread, your opinions are valued, but they need to also not derail future readers of this thread. Thank you.
  18. 5 or 6 coats works well for most people. The better your technique, the easier it will be to remove as well, but yeah, it is very easy to peel off. They do now have a glossifier product that is decent, won't be clearcoat glossy, but definitely not matte anymore.
  19. If you are trying to upload files, they have to meet a maximum file size requirement (unless you become a "lifetime" member). So I usually will tell people to set up a photobucket account or a flickr account, load the images there, and then copy/paste the link back here. If you want to attach a file from a mobile device, you have to use the FULL VERSION option, AFAIK. That will allow you to see the CHOOSE FILE/ATTACH FILE options at the bottom of the reply box, but the page will definitely not look pretty at all. So be patient, choose your file, then attach it, then select ADD REPLY to post it to the topic.
  20. Lets stay on topic please, this topic is intended to be informative, not combative.
  21. I suppose it takes more than 1 click of a gun to warn you too! Jaded, LOL!
  22. The Levittown thread is here: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10937-employee-pricing-on-all-parts-accessories/ I will post there for you.
  23. The air intake is already setup to draw the coldest air into the box. I would not necessarily change that. Rather you might want to extend the "snorkel" further, say into the front bumper area (easier on 2007-10).
