Post 15B21 leak repair follow up report
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Chipster's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Which dealership did you go to? Do you have another available in your area? -
Ok, so not tuned specifically for E30 then. Unleashed does tune for E-blends, also consider Brad (bradleyfredrickfischer@yahoo.com) who will tune for any & all blends. You are working the pump hard with E30, but it is manageable with a tune. 500AWHP is likely possible, but I have not seen it achieved without methanol injection on stock fuel pumps. If the 2.7 is as strong as the 3.5, it will go to about 600 AWHP before a custom build needs to be done to go further. What IATs are you seeing with the engine/trans warmed up? I hear the intercooler might be a bottleneck just like it is on the 3.5 ... The block might be stronger, but what about the rotating assembly? What about the heads? Plus the use of small turbos also restricts the efficiency zone. You can put out extra boost, but it will not do much good as the turbos will work against themselves, and will shorten the life of the turbos. Would def be nice to have an extra motor to play with

I THINK there is an oil filter adapter, if so, this might be it (nontow, tow ends in F) http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-OIL-COOLER-FILTER-ADAPTER-FORD-LINCOLN-MERCURY-3-5L-3-7L-7T4Z-6881-E-/222257553685 No chance of a leak at the Engine Oil Pressure Switch?

Electrical-unlocking Randomly with lights on
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Rewerbcrx's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Hopefully the BCM is not fried. A new battery tho (with a relearn) is most likely on the list. Good idea cleaning out the fuse box.- 5 replies

Sure it is an engine oil leak? If it is in the front, it could be from the valve cover. But you have ruled out trans fluid leak? And you are sure no other vehicle has parked there prior, and it's leak is actually what you are seeing. Novice questions, I know

Welcome, Dusty! AFAIK, Livernois is just starting to tune for E-mix fuels on the Ecoboost platform. Did they tune for E30 on the Edge? They are focused on the F150/Mustang right now where heavy duty fueling is concerned. Seems some of their F150 customers are now rolling with their custom HPFPs, pretty cool!

Front seat not comfortable for short people
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Irontrader's topic in Owner Impressions
Glad to know you got the problem fixed instead of trading it in And that the fix is relatively inexpensive! -
It is only appropriate for snow birds to get soft ... very suitable for winter.

The 2.7EB gets the 6F55 transmission, which has been daily-drivered at 600 HP/TQ at the crank in other applications (about 500 AWHP/AWTQ at the wheels). Should be fine, but the higher you push the curve, the more you should expect to shorten maintenance intervals. "Lifetime" is definitely out the window.

Check that Cabin Air Filter
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to lildisco's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
Any P/N on the original filter? I don't think they put in charcoal filters, but ya never know -
So you are thinking along the lines of underdrive pulleys? The belts on the Edge run the alternator, power steering, and compressor, so I suppose there is some gain to be had. Probably easier to use top of the line fluids in the vehicle and keep maintenance uptodate, frankly.

Pull codes from the PCM to see what the computer thinks the issue might be.

Drivetrain ... belt??? Power, without other modifications, is not going to increase enough to need to upgrade parts. Get new parts on, sure, that always helps, but upgraded parts, probably not.
-
First thing to check: battery & battery connections. Hopefully it has been recently replaced, but likely not. When was it produced, and how many CCAs is it rated for?
-
This would be a good time to do the spark plugs as well, because they are way past due at that mileage. Check resistance on the coils to see if they too need to be replaced. The PCV valve CAN be replaced without removing the intake manifold, if you have dexerity and small hands on your side

Direct Injection and Carbon Buildup
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tamugrad2013's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
Carbon doesn't build up that quickly on the IVs, so if the induction service is done as a preventative, let's say annually or more frequently, it should not be an issue. Now if you have 30,000 miles already and its been 3 years, for example, definitely, I would not recommend induction services, but rather media blasting. The decision to do either should be preceded by a visual inspection of the valves. And as far as the chemicals seeping past the turbo rings, sure, it could happen. But as with any service, engine flush, seafoam intake cleaning, etc. it is always a good idea to change the oil within 500 miles or less of the service. So time the service for just before your OC, and you should be golden. -
Welcome to the community, congrats, and feel free to share the glory of your new ride

Direct Injection and Carbon Buildup
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tamugrad2013's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
Not bad! The colder the location of the catchcan, the more condensate you will catch. It's nice in the XSport, where it can be fender mounted, so the temps are ambient essentially. -
