Not necessarily. The warranty is likely to be 2 yrs instead of 1 year, but independents can be just as good as or better than the dealer at their jobs.
-
Pretty sure they have a temp sensor on the fill plug, but don't have a pic handy ... Looks like plug by itself, temp sensor separate. The sensor is disconnected in this pic so you can access the plug more easilly, but the sensor itself is still undisturbed.

Second the X-tremeVision. On both of my cars now. Osram Nitebreakers Unlimited would also be an excellent choice.

repairpal.com estimates between 800 to 1000 for replacement by a reputable independent shop in my area in MD. Dealers are typically 50% more, so I would agree with Zazzy.

I would say that is not 100% true. There are some parameters in the PCM that are retained despite a reflash; which ones depends on the type of PCM. The only way to really get the PCM to fully reset is with a KAM reset. Not a necessary step, but if you experience issues, may help resolve them.

Look up dealerrater.com, yelp.com, repairpal.com, and see which shops get the best reviews. Does not require dealerspecific tools to do, so any competent should should do.

Absolutely. Warning lights are more do or die situations. Like any help system, codes are tiered according to severity. The lesser codes are relegated to languishing internally until pulled by a reader. Any major auto parts store can retrieve them for you if you do not have the OBD II adapter/software.

A little coolant loss over time is acceptable per Ford. Blame the weep hole. But if the coolant loss happens over a short interval tho, you have an issue. Then definitely have the water pump confirmed good, because you don't want to pay for that job out of pocket. Yes, the pumps have failed on Ecoboost engines ...

Bought a new used Ford Edge
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to stan1942's topic in Dealership & Vendor Experiences
These kinds of stories are a dime a dozen, unfortunately. People are also willing to be taken in by the perception and image of a nice vehicle, not look so much under the skin at the mechanicals etc. But when the S.O. gets emotional, you know all bets are off ... -
The 6F35 transmission has had a lot of issues for sure. Look up TSBs for the Fusion and Escape and you will see. I hope it is somehing simple like the TSS/OSS sensor issues, but ... Wouldn't be surprised if they have to replace the trans. Have you pulled codes from the PCM? THat would be my first move before I took it anywhere else.

Gen 2 Sport PTUs do have drains. Not sure on the 2.0 or the 3.5 tho.

Fishing wires through the firewall on 2016 Edge SEL
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Dean K's topic in Forum Help & Site Suggestions
Usually there is a grommet beneath the cowl and above the brake booster that is usable. Not sure on the 2016, but IDK why it wouldn't be the same. -
Time &/or mileage. I would get brake & coolant flushed to get a known baseline. Brake caliper/slide pin service to keep the pads & rotors working smoothly. Trans fluid exchange can be on the table (avoid any place that says they will FLUSH) also, though it is way early, it may have lived a hard life. Short trips, few trips, etc. Fluids keep wearing down regardless of vehicle being driven. Everything has a shelf life. Is it AWD? Find a place that will exchange out the PTU/RDU fluids. Check the struts/shocks for signs of seepage, meaning they are on their way out. Not really an issue on the Edge platform, but the strut mounts can be. Have the battery checked for cranking amps & voltage. Don't forget to change out the cabin air filter (and it can be NASTY looking). Look at Ford's ext warranty plans, or make future provisions for the possibility of throttle body, door latch, APIM, and/or backup camera failures. They have jacked up prices on parts lately. Obviously if you DIY or get someone to help, the cost of any/all repairs will plunge, always a good thing EDIT: I knew there was one thing I just couldn't remember before. Lube the BAMR regularly if your Edge has one. Will keep you VERY happy.

Need advice on road noise and vibration
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to eddyecpowell's topic in Wheels & Tires
Check the axles maybe. Seems some of the 2017 fusions may be having similar issues, and at least one reported it fixed with an axle replacement, not sure if it is a permanent fix, but ... -
Helps to have a helper. Good luck, Stan!

Can you post pics of your '08, the bumper and its various parts? Your profile says 2010, so it's a bit confusing anyway.

Busy day for a busy bee!

Does this help?

Sometimes you have to give them time, they are a very busy shop. Calling them might work better. See if you can talk to Anthony.

What grade of fuel are you using? (2.7L EcoBoost)
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Burrcold's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
No harm in talking to Mike anyway. He had his 3.5EB Flex at 600+ AWHP with fuel system upgrade + tuning. Your call, of course. Having an upgraded HPFP would be great 4 sure.
