  1. 2007-2016 Edge/MKX/Flex/MKT/MKZ/MKS/Taurus/Taurus Police/Explorer/Explorer Police – AWD – Ticking/Knocking Noise From Driveline – Built On Or Before 30-Jun-2016 Some 2007-2016 Edge/MKX/Flex/MKT/MKZ/MKS/Taurus/Taurus Police/Explorer/Explorer Police equipped with All Wheel Drive (AWD) and built on or before 30-Jun-2016 may exhibit a ticking and/or knocking noise coming from the driveline area. To identify this noise, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04, and follow the symptom chart. If the source of the noise is identified as the PTU and/or internal to the PTU, disassemble PTU assembly. Refer to updated WSM, Section 308-07. If the PTU is determined to be repairable, utilize kit GB5Z-7P258-A and the included instruction sheet.
  2. That about sums it up, yes. The Edge did not get such factory programming till the 2011 MY.
  3. Base oils shift almost on a daily basis. What is true now may not be true tomorrow. Some brands use a combo of PAO & Esters, some just PAO, some just Esters, but most use a combo of highly refined dino + Group IV/V that qualifies under the U.S. legal definition of "full synthetic". There is no brand that does not play this game, and I would not expect otherwise. Survival.
  4. Someone on here just got a 97 Ranger, so you might be asked for advice
  5. Change plugs, coils, and get PCM repaired at http://circuitboardmedics.com. Not as big an issue as it seems, thankfully.
  6. Every lighting unit is built with the specific light source in mind. Each type of light source has its own unique beam characteristics. So by mixing light source and headlight you are compromising the intended, engineered design. That said, at least halogen projectors work better than reflectors where HID is concerned. Still not perfect, but better. There is unintended light scatter and beam focus is not as sharp. LED is a whole nother issue. It tends to provide more foreground than distance lighting. So it may be better for fogs rather than headlights. The PIAA offerings may be an exception, per Dingo.
  7. I would talk with Ford directly at their 800 number. Or contact @FordService on Twitter. They may do a goodwill gesture.
  8. Transmission Control Module. Generally not sold separately from the transmission, at least from my searches on dealer sites ...
  9. Welcome to the form, oldham, glad to have ya here! What other Fords have you driven?
  10. Yes it does, though rarely spoken of in layman's circles. Shhhhh ...
  11. I would hope insurance is taking care of this issue. But anyways, you will want to remove the rear bumper cover to inspect the full extent of the damage. If new sensors are needed, Dorman parts seem acceptable replacements to OEM to cut costs OOP.
  12. Welcome to the community, Stefan, and congrats on the Sport! Definitely, post pics of all your rides!
  13. Yeah, it is the scaling on the graph that's throwing us off. An approximation ...
  14. Probably need to admonish the robot in charge of sealant applications on the Edge. Hope they have revised parts/procedures for the oil pans soon.
  15. Could it be the MAP sensor? Can you post pics of the item/item's location please?
  16. Ford has created a very sophisticated forced induction setup that would take quite a bit of time and money to teplicate. The engine bay is also pretty compact with the 3.5 in it. You could try putting on a nitrous system like fit1446 did. His is a 2010 fwd.
  17. Welcome to the community, and congrats, looks
  18. Still not sure about 3.5/2.0 details this is all that FordParts.com will show
  19. My personal take: Get FWD, not AWD. Disregard the lifetime fluid blurbs espoused by Ford, get all the fluids changed out once you buy it. All filters also (oil, air, cabin air). If you are not a DIY person or can't get a friend to lend a hand, price in the cost of a Ford ESP/Protect Premiumcare warranty, it is a good thing to have in hand. Electronics seem to be a more contentious point with the 2011-14, and Premiumcare covers electronics. Would even ask if the throttle body and/or brake booster have been replaced/updated. The two most common issues with the engine so far. The third would be to make sure there is no oil in the intake, which indicates the need for the radiator-side valve cover to be replaced. Other than that, all the usual checks with any vehicle. No leaks, no smells, no wobbliness, etc etc etc. Look at the Carfax. Ask for OASIS reports on the Edge.
  20. Make sure to mention it in the comments section on his video
  21. part numbers are different: 2007-8 334644/5 2009-14 - 334692/3 Not sure if interchangeable
