  1. 20K would be for normal driving as defined by Ford. To me, driving in hot climate like TX and FL probably disqualifies the "normal" to me, but the car might be fine LOL. In any case, I WILL say that the oil probably will work fine, all you have to do is strengthen the additive packs to get to 20K. I mean they already had their EP lineup, now going a little further. The base oil has probably not improved any. You don't want to be the exception to the rule and have the oil fail on you. Let oil analysis be your guide. Go Blackstone!
  2. Post a pic if you can, but 1/4 in or less above the FULL hashmark should be ok. Not great, but ok.
  3. AFAIK, they have an Evap Rate sensor that keeps condensation from forming like it does in the Edge. No drain tube that I have discovered so far. Same with the Taurus. There are drain tubes galore to service sunroofs and cowls, but not the A/C. Am I mistaken?
  4. yes, checking it hot and not drained will affect the reading. there is always splash activity on the dipstick in a "fresh" situation like that. You have to allow 15 min AT LEAST to drain after engine is turned off and car is on level ground. 2015+ can do with 30 min or more (!). The spec from the OM is 6 qt for the 3.5/3.7, and 5.7 qt for the 2.0. How much oil did you drain out? Maybe there was still a qt left.
  5. yeah, idk what is better our system or the drainless systems they have in the Fusion & Taurus ...
  6. More than likely it is a banjo bolt leaking if anything. Still not a cheap fix, but better than what the dealership is suggesting. There is a TSB on this for the 2007-13 model year Edge. Steering gear failure is quite rare on the Edge, but since yours is a 2011, who knows, LOL! J/K. 7. Cool! Welcome to the X-treme Club And chefduane, glad you got the video up & running!
  8. Welcome aboard, and congrats, Oscar! That color sounds amazing! Please post pics of your new ride
  9. Atco is one of the fastest tracks in the country, another would be in Cecil County in MD. Actually we now have SHOs running in the 12.4-12.5 range with just a tune now, given helpful DA of course. With methanol, they have dipped into the 11's. But an MKX that fast ... wonder what all's been done to it! Need ... more ... info!
  10. COPs have not been a point of failure on the Ecoboosts, so unless you have reason to believe the need, I would not change them. Just check them thoroughly for the normal stuff like carbon tracking, torn boots, etc. and put a nice dab of dielectric grease inside the boot before installing over the new plugs. In some cases the boots can be stubborn and get separated from the rest of the COP, so having new boots on hand, THAT I would recommend. Ford dealership is usually the best place to get them, but your local AutoZone/Advance Auto/etc may carry other brands as well. Not sure how they perform in comparison to OEM tho.
  11. A flapping type of sound? Probably much more audible with windows cracked a bit. Like Chipster said, door/window seal is a possibility. Also the mirror itself, the mounting has been an issue in past MYs. Finally, check the wheel well liner to make sure it is secured. You would be surprised how many are missing their security screws. The bumper is elastic plastic, so if not secured to the liner, it will flex & flap. As will the liner.
  12. They used to use acids in flush products to clean out the cooling system. Then put in neutralizers to wash out remaining acids. Modern flush products do not seem to need neutralizers, and Motorcraft's product specifically says no neutralizer needed. Not that there is harm in using one probably. Sodium citrate or sodium carbonate are common neutralizers.
  13. Maybe the fluid level is low? Not uncommon for service shops to make this mistake.
  14. SSI = surefire way to regret your decision. They have a POOR reputation.
  15. This was with extended life coolants like we have now? I guess the benefit would be take out "radical" elements that are difficult to remove with just draining/flushing?
  16. what about aftermarket headlights for 11-14, Nick, can they be baked open? The aftermarket tends to stick with "cheaper"/older tech sometimes.
  17. Custom work - this guy used to be on the forum https://www.facebook.com/DynamikiLLu51ons/
  18. Getting a second dealership to look at it is a good idea, tho I probably would not tell them that work had been done on the PTU already. Pick a good one Installing the PTU is pretty straightforward except maybe a couple of the seals involved, in particular the PTU-driveshaft seal. Have not heard of this particular combination of sounds though.
