LOL. The start of a symphony.

The DryFlows are good, and easy to clean. I have heard tell that the Green Filters will outflow the K&N, but probably at the cost of filtration efficiency. I have never had issues with a K&N, no experience with Green Filter. I think dingo ran the green and was impressed with it, but that's about the only anecdote I have.

Plenty of Ecoboosts in Illinois & Wisconsin etc running the 160s. Of course it is on the SHO/Flex/MKS/etc, but shouldn't work any different. Do you absolutely NEED the 160? No. Can you use it without concern. Yes. Regardless of 160 or 170, best used with a tune to maximize value, even if the tune only changes how the fans operate. thewizard has made some valid points, but remember that at speeds below 40-45 mph, the fans will be needed to cool the system down. Above that, the radiator capability is perfectly adequate. How long are your drives, what kind of traffic/speeds, that is what you should look at. Also keep tabs on your tranmission temperature if you drive a lot in traffic & heat. The TStat won't help you with that. Although you could theoretically get a lower temp bypass valve for the trans cooler system to do the same thing as for the engine cooling system.

The stock box/filter flow pretty well. The dropin filters generally are good for adding some sound. Performance improvement will happen at high/redline rpm's, so if the engine lives in that range, sure. Still fairly minor. I would add the filter mainly for sound, and for eliminating the need to replace.

160F is proven to work fine for the Ecoboost, so don't be deterred if you want to get that TStat. Does not create issues in the cold, even in the "polar winter" that the Midwest went through.

Intermediate Shaft Seal Replacement at 9000 miles
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to nittanydoug's topic in Transaxle (FWD)
I think it would be covered under powertrain warranty, but here is the 2014 warranty guide http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/brochures/14frdwa2e.pdf Your vehicle’s Powertrain components are covered for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Front-Wheel Drive: axle shafts, bearings (front and rear), center support bearing, drive shafts, final drive housing (including all internal parts), hubs-automatic front locking (four-wheel drive), locking rings (four-wheel drive), seals and gaskets, universal and constant velocity joints;- 1 reply

Having a colder TStat but no tune makes an impact ONLY in short drives from a cold start. A tune will change when the fans operate and for how long, so that makes an impact possibly on short drives as well. Emissions should not be impacted because a tune runs the engine a bit leaner, as the OEM tune is biased towards a rich fuel mixture, again meant for a wide range of driving conditions/audience/maintenance conditions. With a colder TStat/tune comes the additional responsibility of being more meticulous about maintenance and possibly the fuel/oil you use. So dropping in a colder TStat is NOT a solution to a problem, but an enhancement as part of a performance modification plan. Meaning the stock car works well, but you want it to work "better".

No separate fuel filter, per se. There is a screen directly attached to the fuel pump inside the tank. Does it crank at normal speed in the heat though? Usually some kind of vapor lock would be blamed for this in times past. Is it possible the battery has already gone bad? Check not only voltage but CCAs on the new battery. Sometimes the starter is known to die in the kind of heat you get out there in NV and AZ. May be a symptom of a failing starter.

I believe you can take a screwdriver paper clip and adjust the nozzles up and down somewhat. Maybe clean them with a soft nylon brush in case there is debris there altering the spray pattern? This might help

AC blowing hot when sitting but cold while driving?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to 4x4's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Pretty straightforward. Only thing you might have to watch out for is the possibility of a bolt at the bottom of the radiator that needs to be removed before the fans will come out. Also, flush out the Specialty Gold coolant. Replace with Motorcraft Specialty Green OR an extended life universal coolant from Peak, Prestone, Zerex, etc. Should meet the specification stated in the owner's manual for the coolant. Specialty Gold coolant has been found to cause cooling system corrosion, that is why Ford has a procedure in place to replace it with Specialty Green. Specialty Gold, RIP. 2011 Edge, but yours should be very similar -

Patience and hope will continue to be your friends. Don't stress over it, too much anyway ... -
For emissions reasons, with OEM tune & equipment. The 160F TStat is better suited for the Ecoboost's power production capabilities, I think LME said one time 145F is actually ideal. With a tune AND 160F TStat, you can maintain the emissions quality while boosting (!) the hp/tq/fun factor.

Not really clear in the diagram, but looks like it is on bank 1 somewhere USUALLY it is in the valve cover. http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=MvnFM7P7FwHAIaDwlUuarQ%3d%3d&id=420978585&m=2&search=true&year=2015&make=Ford&model=Edge

2016 Ford Edge Sport System Failure
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to aphxtwinin's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Would be a little easier to tell what is going on with a little datalogging of your own (OBD II adapter and Forscan Lite) to see how the Edge is responding to your input. More than likely an electrical issue, whether a connection, sensor, or wiring. On the Ecoboost lineup, very rare to see throttle body failure like you do on the naturally aspirated engines, but the motor on the TB has been known to die on other EB engine lines, occasionally. Could be a TSS/OSS failure or a transmission range sensor failure, but that should set codes as well. So I am thinking wiring/connections most likely. Could also need a new transmission part like a valve body, something that is not really monitored. Power in any other mode than D? Does Reverse work? Does the engine rev when you hit the accelerator, but just the Edge does not move? Does the appropriate gear indicator light up in the instrument cluster, I can't tell for sure from the video? -
