Yay! Good call on fuses, enigma!

Welcome and sorry to hear. Who did you have the PCM repaired by? Wondering if the as-built data is not matched to your Edge. The Instrument Cluster, which stores the PATS information, and the PCM are likely not talking. And the IC may need to be repaired, but that is a very low probability situation.

Battery Replacement Information

Great info, thanks for adding. First time I have heard of this happening AFTER battery replacement. I hope they trained the new battery so it charges properly. -
A bad fuel pump and a how-to on an 09 Edge Limited w/ AWD

2007-9 have access doors, but thats it. Not sure on gen 2. -
Sorry to hear! I bet tho that the fluids have never been changed and that us the root cause of the issues. How is the health of the transmission fluid? If good, the problem may lie in sensors and solenoids instead of the transmission itself. A bad MAF sensor can cause similar symtoms. Have you checked to see if there are codes in the PCM? That is where I would start. Are the fluid keaks from the PTU? Common fir the seal on either side to leak. The ptu fluid can leak out thru the vent sometimes.

Brakes are another common source of issues, along with hub bearings. Caliper, brake pad, rocks in the dust shield, bent dust shield ... Easier to discern the sound in enclosed spaces, maybe a parking garage or even driving next to a jersey barrier can help. Halfshafts were an issue on some gen 1.5 MYs. But if you are not noticing any stutter during acceleration probably not the ptu or halfshaft. Still could be a bearing in early stages. Also cannot rule out transmission. I think someone with a Gen 2 has posted on here before about a similar clicking sound ... Will see if I can find it.

Yeah well they did away with the access in 2010. Back to dropping the tank. -

Good luck! Make sure you have the trim ring removal tool handy, other than that should be straightforward. -
Pretty late in the production cycle. I was looking to see if maybe it was also in the date range with the A pillar leak problems, but apparently not. Agreed, too early to tell if the same issues plague the Gen 2 PTUs. The fact that we have already heard of a couple of failures is not comforting.

Hasta la Vista, el paso!

Does sound like the PTU is toast. Surprisingly early. Do you know when your Edge was produced? You can look up by VIN here Https://www.etis.ford.com

Not rust stains i hope. Check the windshield and headliner for leaks.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Well done, guys! -
You may be right. Tasca does list it fitting gen 1 as well.

2010 Ford Edge strut and brake replacement
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tanman_2006's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Orange is the newest coolant, maybe 2013 & up?. Specialty Gold for all practical ourposes is obsolete, and people should replace with specialty green when it comes time. If you want to avoid confusion altogether, you can use a universal extended life coolant from Prestone, Peak, Zerex, etc. It should explicitly meet the Ford or ASTM spec as stated in your owners manual. Soecialty Gold meets ASTM D 3306, for example. -

Good question. Some codes when set are erased on the next startup. This was a major issue with gen 1.5 throttle body failure. In this case, IDK if a] a code is set, and b] if it is retained. -
Nitpicking and an aside, but ecoboosts use MAP and not MAF sensors. The MAF sensors on the 3.5 and 3.7 do double duty as MAF and intake air temp sensors. Sorry for the disruption, carry on

2010 Ford Edge strut and brake replacement
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tanman_2006's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Most definitely, never too early. I am going with a 5 year/60,000 mile interval recommendation right from the start, primarily due to water pump issues. Refill with Specialty Green, or a universal extended life from Prestone, Peak or Zerex that meets the Ford spec or the industry spec ASTM D 3306. -

For wifi, probably better off with vGate iCar Veepeak or even BAFX. Obdlink brand was a disaster for me, though Nick apparently got it working. Maybe he can guide you thru the install if needed. -
