2011 Mystery Noise in Dash
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to PSUzak's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Blend door actuator? Though it shouldn't be coming out of the speakers ... How old is the battery in your Edge? Might want to consider getting it replaced if the CCAs are low. Bad batteries cause a lot of electrical issues that are seemingly unrelated. -
Maybe, but it will hard to find at that price (OEM). Apparently the Gen 2 camera from the Edge works fine in the Gen 1.5, only downside is it cannot be calibrated for Gen 1.5. But it is under $100 at online Ford dealers all day long, right now.

No start after radio install?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to SMR2818's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Group 65 battery highly recommended, these vehicles are electricity hogs. Motorcraft ToughMAX, Odyssey AGM, Sears AGM etc. should serve you well. The terminals have been tightened correctly? Checked parasitic draw? CCAs need to be tested, not just voltage to determine good/bad battery. -
Very likely the EVAP purge valve (at the firewall) needs to be replaced. Vacuum test like macbwt shows on his YT channel. That is the quickest way to tell. If the purge valve is fine, then possibly the filler neck has an issue. Thriller Trailer

Interior Disaster - 2016 Ford Edge Sport

Good luck, post pics of the new ride! -
Welcome, Jensuisun, and congrats on Black Betty! Now how about sharing some visuals on this beauty with us!

Welcome Alex, that Edge is downright purdy! Wrapping is really the best way to get the most out of the blackout, but you can try Plastidipping it first to see if you like the look.

Sorry to hear. Yes, it can get VERY expensive to replace the whole vista roof. What part broke exactly, is it the guides or the little "feet" at the end of the guides, or ...

Update on Rotora Brakes for G2 Edge Sport
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Xtra's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
There are drilled rotors and "drilled" rotors. Some rotors have the holes cast into the mold itself, so no drilling, and much stronger than the rest. The starting material also factors into the process, as well as whether the holes are chamfered, etc. -
Could be a MyKey type issue, or a loose hose somewhere in the turbo piping tract. Ford does not clamp all the turbo hoses (the small ones in particular). Even if they are clamped, they can come loose or actually split on the underside. If you reused the throttle body and sensors, might need a new throttle body/motor and/or throttle position sensor. Check exhaust for leaks, and cats for being plugged.

You can always try cleaning the electrical connector, but am pretty sure a replacement is the long-term fix. You can choose to use the Gen 2 camera, it is much less expensive right now, has the right form factor, only downside to date is it will not calibrate, so no guidelines/blocks. EDIT: Corrected per post below.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I did not know you have a wax cabana LOL. But carnauba wax does wear quickly off paint unless it is a newer hybrid wax. I don't know about months of longevity. Subscribed tho, if it really works, that'll be cool. -
Battery Replacement Information

Correct 2011 & newer only. I am glad I don't have that system in my 2007. I think I can manage just fine LOL. -

Keep an eye on codes in the PCM. And I do hope the plugs/coils/PCM are at the root. But I would not be surprised if the valve body/solenoid body assembly are involved. Just something to have at the back of the mind (Plan X). -
Ford recommends every 30K for the police units. So 10K is impressive!

Battery Replacement Information
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Accessories & Modifications
2011 and up MY vehicles get the Battery Management System, in which the PCM learns the charging characteristics of the battery installed. So as the battery weakens, the behavior changes accordingly. Basically extracting the most juice for the longest time. So when you replace the weak/dead battery, if you do not reset the BMS, the PCM assumes the same battery is in place, and thus an inappropriate charging strategy is applied. Particularly important if you change from a standard lead acid to another type of battery, since native charge characteristics and capacities are different. So a reset should be done every time a new battery is installed. Forscan may be able to do this, but IDK. It can easily be done DIY if after installing the new battery you leave the car alone (NO interactions) for 8 hours or more. This is the way it was described for 2011-14, not sure if the procedure has been updated for 2015+ (I do not have a Gen 2 manual at this time).
