  1. Absolutely did the right thing. Gotta weigh your options when looking at all that. Great deal on tge 2915, put up some pics, and enjoy! I would strongky advocate getting ford premiumcare when you can, seeing it is an ecoboost motor, particularly if you do anthing other than mostly highway driving.
  2. Welcome, nice lookin' ride, and good luck! Ya the turbo engines do like to stretch their legs and their Italian tuneups.
  3. Any idea of the location of the leaking coolant? Water pump weephole location
  4. I was thinking of greasing the skids with this, but the Law will have to do ...
  5. A VOM is not going to tell you cold cranking amps. Voltage is just the front door. The CCAs are the house you are looking at. Plus it can check your charging system as well if you so desire.
  6. A] you are sure the springs weren't installed incorrectly/in reverse, and B] is there any sag in the rear suspension? How is the behavior on bumpy roads? Please post pics of your Edge, and also measure the height from the road to the top of the fenderwell, front & rear.
  7. Recalibration sounds a viable option. If you have a Solar BA7, you can check battery condition yourself.
  8. Is the brake booster a possibility in this case?
  9. What is your strategy code, NoDTMF? Will see if I can have it added to the database. Others in the same boat, also please let me know. And which engine, of course. You really have to push SCT to add, a passive approach may/may not yield results.
  10. I have heard of instances where 5 year old tires have been heavily discounted and sold, yes, from tire rack. 5 years old! Tire life is around 7 years under optimal conditions.
  11. Really? Circuiboardmedics had an Edge hanging around for use? Too bad it wasnt the ocm tho. Life woulda been much simpler!
  12. Hey if AC is working, count your blessings LOL. Seems like you found a good AC shop
  13. Have the control arms looked at closely also. Although they were culprits in a Gen 1.5 for steering rather than vibration issues.
  14. I believe all 3 aftermarket plugs are supposed to be at 0.032, a bit outside the recommended range. Not horrible if you do not have a tuned vehicle. A feeler gauge is the recommended way to check gap, and a spark plug pliers is the best way to adjust the gap if really needed. Pliers/gapping tools can be found on summit.com and jegs.com, sometimes eBay.
  15. No one has mentioned updating the MM, but CP-E has put out some great products in the past. This SHOULD be well up their alley. Maybe you can talk them into an intercooler as well
  16. Well, just chewing on it, all parts are designed to meet a certain spec, then the parts still have to be produced. Used to be a rule of thumb that engineers would overbuild anything by at least 10%, sometimes even 30% on critical applications. Still, the life of a part is not going to be infinite. With all the marketing hoopla these days, I expect there is a good-sized gap between consumer expectation and reality. If a part fails, did it meet the spec? Then it was not a design failure or a production failure. Could be that gap I mentioned, or could be "overuse" beyond recommendations. As an aside, akirby suggests budgeting for future repairs, and I suggest looking seriously at Ford extended warranty options when looking at a car. If you are a technical DIY'r, budgeting is a great way to go. If you tend to hand it over to a mechanic, the warranty is what you need. Build it into the cost of the car, especially when buying used, because it WILL save your beehind down the road.
  17. They could be fitting in unrelated items just to get you properly taken care of. Do not know if that is the case here, but some shops do do that.
  18. Wow, expensive! Must be gold or platinum plated ... macbwt had suggested open end wrenches + vise grip at one point ... https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-37100-Timing-Tool-Ford/dp/B06Y2B6C1Z/
  19. Welcome and sorry to hear. How many miles on your Edge? It is most likely a bad VCT solenoid on Bank 1 OR the timing chains are done for. I am guessing since you are hearing rattling that the timing chains are done for. Sadly this can be an expensive fix, maybe $1600 or so, at which time it is also advisable to replace all 4 solenoids & the water pump. Still nowhere near the cost quoted for a new engine. If you can find a nice low mileage used engine, the replacement cost would be around $3,000 most likely. These prices should hold at a qualified independent shop, as dealers almost always charge significantly more. The converter may or may not be bad. Poor timing control can lead to symptoms because of poor combustion. May clear up once the timing issue is addressed.
  20. I would like to get a list of PCM strategies for your Edges so my tuner can see if they are available to tune for. If not, he will try to get SCT to add those strategies so he can then tune for them. Strategy and model year of your Edge, please. The easiest way I know to find this strategy is to use Forscan Lite, which will list details on the PCM module once it connects successfully to your vehicle. Do not need an adapter with MSCAN abilities, any adapter (wifi or bluetooth) should do. I suggest Veepeak as one of the cheapest/reliable that you can get. Forscan Lite is $5 or so from the Play/iTunes store. Thanks in advance! questions, please ask.
  21. Good luck, fingers crossed!
  22. Bearings, stick with OEM/Motorcraft. Struts/shocks, Motorcraft stll the best unless you want a firmer ride with KYB. Not many options out there for the Edge unfortunately.
