2013 Edge rear suspension creaking
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to brewman84's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
The ball joint has vaporized hence no noise. LOL. -
eBay is where I ended up getting mine because the space between the 3 discs is similar in the part from the dealer. The one I needed, the top space was about 2x the size of the bottom space. Still a tight fit, and probably not of as high quality, but it has worked so far. I believe this one https://www.ebay.com/itm/20x-Nylon-Front-Door-Panel-Clips-Rivet-Retainer-for-2005-2009-Buick-LaCrosse/401062994865

Service advance trac, collision warning not available
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Red2149's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Possibly needs a PCM software recalibration to fix. There is a TSB on it IIRC,hopefully that is all it is. TSB 13-1-15_ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)-ADVANCED TRAC WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED - DTCS P193C AND U0401 - BUILT ON OR BEFORE Jan23-2013.pdf -
2013 Ford Edge Sport Reversing Camera Failure

Not sure the orientation makes a difference in projector headlamps per a recent discussion. I know for a fact it does in REFLECTOR headlamps, and the difference can be quite annoying

What kind of fire extinguisher should I have in case of engine fire?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to neoweb's topic in Mods & Tech
macbwt carries a fire extinguisher in his work Edge, I am sure he will chime in soon! -
07 sel plus AWD rear bearing/hub replacement
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to ddb maine's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Hope you do not have to breathe fire or use Thor's hammer to get the old one off! -
The problems arise AFTER the gas leaves the refinery. Think of all the failure points in between en route to your vehicle's gas tank. In a perfect world, all tanks would be clean, there would be no water, no rust, no bacterial/algal growth, etc. That is why it is important to at least use a gas station that is BUSY, if a Top Tier station for some reason is not agreeable to you. That said, if that Top Tier station is not busy, it may not be as good over time as a no-name station that is busy. Every area will have different "best options".

2013 Edge SEL LH Quarter Panel Interior Trim Panel Removal
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to dblanton's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Are you replacing the power liftgate motor? You just have to remove the access panel not the entire trim panel to do so. To remove that trim panel, you have to remove the power liftgate motor anyway, LOL. The rest of the steps are kinda shown in this video: -
So will they service it for you anyway, or not? What is your plan going forward?

The control part comes from the factory springs and diaphragms typically having some "give", creating performance variance. So by using the TS or other BOV, you are tightening tolerances, and hopefully & concurrently, improving performance. On the Ecoboost engines, Ford uses a lot of parts that are under-spec'd from a tuner perspective, so you have hose clamps coming loose, hoses cracking, causing all kinds of boost leaks, etc. Fortunately the intercoolers have withstood the test of time LOL. But yes, for most people, it will only be a "bling" mod. For those who tune their Edges for performance, it will allow the tuner to have more control over the tune. If the mechanical parts are "loose" in their behavior, you have to dial back the tune for safety.

2013 Ford Edge Sport Reversing Camera Failure
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to Miner's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If it is an OEM camera, and it is calibrated, yes it should fix issues. Unfortunately, a well-known issue for gen 1.5, including APIM, door latch, shifter, brake booster, etc. -
Great info, Jim!

One other note I would add to the discussion: forced induction engines are very sensitive to detonation. One way to minimize the potential is to run higher octane fuel than needed. Especially if you do not use top tier fuel or fuel from a very busy gas station all the time. Having that cushion is basically insurance that you will not window your block, so you pay a little extra over time vs all at once. With top tier fuels, usually the other main difference is the amount of detergents provided. 93 or premium fuel gets the most detergents, which can come in handy if you like to run 87 all the time, with a dash of 93 now and then. Shell VPower for instance, makes a noticeable difference on Ecoboost engines, compared to 93 from other brands. That said, there is some debate right now about detergents in GTDI engines with regards to certain undesirable combustion events. Fact is though, they do keep the fuel system and combustion chamber significantly cleaner than without. Once deposits form on DI fuel injectors, they are VERY hard to get off, so prevention is key.

I was referring to the procedures listed in this thread should you have dual climate control http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/23097-2014-edge-limited-no-heat/

Hi From Over The Pond (As It Is Commonly Referred To)
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to DavesEdge's topic in Welcome Forum!
Welcome!!! -
Valve cover gaskets and plug well seals are a common culprit for this issue on Ecoboosts. I expect the same here.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Glad to hear, Prinzll. No more noise / vibration issues? -
There will be some improvement as factory tuning accommodates 87-93 fuel. Not as much as a custom aftermarket tune, but noticeable. Ethanol free fuel will meet you even more gains.

They could just as easily have offered to remove it or deactivate the occupant classification sensor upon owner request. Not a great option either, but more liveable than a mandate preventing use of the pass seat. I still do not have the recall for the driver airbag addressed. So 2 missiles in my case.

Idle Issue after Clearing adaptive tables and PCM Update
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to mazda3ride's topic in 3.5L
How long of a time are we talking about exactly from startup to the time it drops to 600 rpms? Generally, I do not idle my cars more than 30 seconds in warmer weather or more than 1 minute in colder weather. In colder weather, it does not even begin to come down till the very last second. I have also found that the best way to not have it "jerk" on you while it is idling high is to move the shifter very quickly into the desired gear. Works every time. The temperature tho ... could be a change due to calibration maybe? Worth bringing to the attention of the dealer. If you have more than 30K miles on the trans fluid, change it and see if the situation improves. -
Ecoboosts run off knock sensing. The tech is meant to run ultralean, and knock data helps determine maximum timing safely available under any given condition. There is no octane sensor as such, it is extrapolated from the knock data and the spark tables the PCM can reference. This is how you discover 93 is not always 93 LOL.
