  1. Not a clue, seems to have been operating ok thus far this winter? Then ya, can wait till you go in for the next service. There MIGHT be different strategies the PCM/AWD module employs based on the ID, like it is for the transmission, but IDK.
  2. Very likely rust/corrosion at the license plate lamp assembly. If there are 2 assemblies, replace them both, being sure to apply a light coating of dielectric grease prior to final installation. That should take care of the B1215 code ... permanently. If your Edge is an AWD, then the P164D likely means that the PCM is missing the identification info for the RDU, and it needs to be programmed in.
  3. Protective coating on hub should stay, on the rotor face will wear off shortly with use.
  4. 2007-10 wheels are plugnplay, having the same bolt pattern, hub bore, etc.
  5. These are the basic instructions for a 2013 Edge, should be the same for your 2014 Removal and Installation All vehicles NOTE: It is critical that the correct Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) be installed when installing a new IPC . The IPC differs between Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) vehicles equipped with Intelligent Access (IA) and vehicles not equipped with IA . If the incorrect IPC is installed, the vehicle may exhibit a PATS no-start condition. NOTE: If installing a new non IA IPC , all vehicle keys are erased during the parameter reset procedure. Verify at least 2 of the vehicle keys are available prior to carrying out this procedure. If installing a new Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), upload the module configuration to the scan tool. For additional information, refer to Section 418-01 .Edge Remove the instrument panel LH finish panel.Remove the floor console LH upper finish moulding.Remove the instrument panel RH finish panel. Place the steering column in the full down position. Remove the 2 two screws and remove the lower IPC finish panel. Unclip the gap hider from the upper steering column shroud. Remove the 2 screws and remove the IPC . Disconnect the electrical connector. MKX Remove the LH IPC top cover. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12 .Remove the 2 screws and remove the IPC . Disconnect the electrical connector. All vehicles To install, reverse the removal procedure. If a new IPC is installed, download the configuration from the scan tool into the new IPC . For additional information, refer to Section 418-01 . NOTE: If installing a new IPC on vehicles that are not equipped with IA , the IPC and the PCM require a parameter reset to allow the IPC and the PCM to recognize each other. Failure to carry out the parameter reset to the IPC and the PCM may result in a no start condition. If installing a new IPC on vehicles that are not equipped with IA , carry out the parameter reset procedure. For additional information, refer to Section 419-01B .
  6. Do you know if you got OEM, exact replacement glass? They probably had to take off the wiper arms also, may not have reinstalled correctly?
  7. On the mobile version of the site, I believe you have to tell the browser to retrieve the desktop version of the site to do anything more than basic posting. I don't know if this site is up on Tapatalk, which also allows you "full-ish" access to posting features.
  8. Cold weather is hard on transmissions because unless you use the transmission, it heats up pretty slowly compared to the engine. In the weather we have been having, it can take 10-15 minutes just to get the bypass valve to open! So as mentioned by 1004ron, exchanging the trans fluid would be the first step to take. If you do not use Motorcraft Mercon V, I would suggest using Valvoline MultiVehicle Full Synthetic ATF. Frequency of service is probably more important though, not to exceed 5 yrs/60,000 miles between changes.
  9. Possibly fuel pump, but check the PCM for codes first. Most codes do not set a check engine light. Also winter gas - could have water in the tank, a bottle of HEET will clean that right up. could be bad gas as well - possible if you switched to another station, or it is not very busy, or not top tier.
  10. The wear process cannot be stopped no matter the maintenance regimen. But you CAN reduce it to virtually nil by being a little OCD about it. These days, it is the electrical sensors that go out first rather than the actual mechanicals where transmissions are concerned. Putting in new parts can be expensive if you are not a DIY type person. I think with proper care, the transmissions can last a long, long, long time. But you have to be aware of the need first.
  11. Ah that's just the rich cats foolin' the rest of us so they can pick up the stock at fire sale prices. LOL.
  12. "No touching" my Edge either. But it looks WAY different from you guys'
  13. Could very well be right. Engine issues often pose as transmission issues, as the command & control of both is intricately linked. How many miles on your Edge, btw? You don't have to be a mechanic to read codes What you DO need to have, is an OBD II adapter to plug into the OBD port under the driverside dash, plus software like Forscan Lite on your smartphone/tablet. With those up and running, you can pull codes yourself and see what is going on with your Edge. Forscan Lite usually has a little blurb along with the code to explain basically what the code means. Or you can search for the code on the Internet, lotsa resources available, If it IS a misfire, hopefully it is just time for plugs, I would change them all. To be sure, verify the resistance of the coil drivers at the PCM, and the resistance values of the coil itself. Then you will know if the issue has made its way past the plug into the coil and possibly into the PCM.
  14. x2 on ^^^ Never too soon to service, can always be too late. Banish the word FLUSH, introduce the words FLUID EXCHANGE. FLUSH implies pushing fluid in the opposite direction of normal flow, and it is done after first removing the transmission filter. In these transmissions, there is no serviceable filter. There is a screen that you have to crack the trans case open to access. As with any fluids, it is time OR mileage. People get hung up on the mileage as service intervals, but fluids age just sitting there. That goes for engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, etc etc etc.
  15. If you want near plugnplay, you will need to stick with halogens. There are higher output halogen bulbs you can use, from brands like Philips and Osram. Avoid Sylvania. https://www.hidconcept.com/collections/9012/products/9012-philips-crystal-vision-ultra-4000k-9012cvb2-bulbs-pack-of-2 There are also high quality LED bulbs meant for projectors, but they do come with a price tag. http://www.vleds.com/shop-application/application-low-beam/9012-hir2/micro-9012.html HID works in the projector housing (not as well as an OEM setup, but liveable), but a bit of legwork is required. Not all that bad. Drivebright.com is one option, TheRetrofitSource.com is another. http://drivebright.com/home/shop/hid-headlight-replacement-kit-new/$89 on sale, cheapest I have seen I think! You will want between 4000K and 6000K color temp for best output. the closer to 4000K the better. OEM is usually around 4300K.
  16. How many miles on your Edge? What oil are you using? Brand, weight, etc. What filter? Any leaks from the engine oil pressure switch area (just above the A/C compressor, to the left of the oil filter)? The P0019 error code is most likely caused by failing VCT solenoid(s) or other timing components. Have you had any issues with starting the Edge? Like an extended crank for instance. May just need spark plugs and PCV valve to fix the misfires, especially if the plugs are fouled from poor fuel. Change the air filter, clean the MAF sensor (with MAF or electrical parts cleaner) and clean the throttle body. Check the PCM coil driver resistance to rule out PCM errors. The oil warning light can come on for numerous reasons. It could be the PCM software needs updating. Or the engine has stalled/is about to stall then restarts. Or you have just cold started your engine. If the warning light STAYS on, then the software update might be necessary OR there is real hardware failure.
  17. So the tuner is not unlocked then?
  18. You are right. The video is completely useless. Well, now that the truth has been outed, don't we all feel better? LOL.
  19. You do have to take the bumper cover off, but not the bumper itself. May be able to clean them without removing the cover, apparently no obstruction getting to them.
