2018 Ford Escape SE with Sport Appearance Package
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to tamugrad2013's topic in Lounge
Go warranty Can you post up a redacted copy of the invoice you get after work is done? The details can be really useful for fellow members down the road. TIA for considering. Sync3 is definitely H&S above Sync2. -
window sticker lookup for used Edge?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to bamabob's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
AFAIK, Ford has pretty much shut down access to window stickers except thru dealerships. A google search will reveal the most popular lookup sites that used to work in the past. -
Welcome, and congrats on the new ride! Please do post some pics of your Edge

I think you will be fine with a normal oil change, it's just that one cannot easily quantify if the material it breaks free is in sufficient quantity to cause a concern. I personally don't think it is a concern like an engine flush would be or even seafoam. I just like to be careful LOL.
-
do you know which bushings they were referring to? control arm bushings, shock related bushings, or ...? just trying to figure out if they know what they are talking about.
-
Have you changed out the transmission fluid? What is the color of the trans fluid? Reason I ask is that the driver side axle leak at the transmission is known to happen. Given the quantity of fluid, I believe the seal does need to be replaced. Not sure why it stopped, but surely under stress it will recur.

I would ask him anyway to look into the ability to enlarge the oil feed. See what the scope is should the need arise. Maybe Ford already put in a bigger feed than they use on the 3.5s, IDK. That would be a GOOD thing I think this is still the most significant power adder to date re turbos for the 3.5. Just something to compare Stock Turbine -Wheel Inducer: 40mm -Wheel Exducer: 34.5mm Stock Compressor -Wheel Inducer: 36.3mm -Wheel Exducer: 49mm Upgraded +2 Turbine -Wheel Inducer: 50mm -Wheel Exducer: 43.5mm -Range: New Series Garrett GT Journal Bearing Upgraded +2 Compressor -Wheel Inducer: 43.4mm -Wheel Exducer: 56mm -Range: New Series Garrett GT Journal Bearing Twin turbo upgrade, direct bolt-on stock location. +2 size Garrett flows 200-250HP more than stock turbos. Remachined stock end housings. All new Garrett CHRA (Center Housing Rotating Assembly). Core exchange required.
-
As a future project, maybe you could see if the turbos get enough oil for lubrication/cooling. The 3.5s definitely benefit from slightly larger oil feed orifices. The longterm jury is out on this product for the 3.5, but so far so good. Did need to retune after installation. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-3-5L-EcoBoost-Performance-Upgrade-Billet-Wheel-Set-Taurus-SHO-Flex-2010/122459970729

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
NOT totaled. I THINK that is good news? -
Which Techron did you use, the Concentrate Plus or the lower tier version? In any case, I would ease up on using FI cleaners for a couple of thousand miles at least. Also, change the oil as soon as you can, FI cleaners can end up dumping carbon into the oil if the engine condition is bad enough. I try to schedule use shortly prior to an oil change. Hopefully plug change is all that is required!

I do not see separate part numbers for the hub and bearing, so looks like the rears are indeed serviced as assemblies. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2011,edge,3.5l+v6,1446671,brake+&+wheel+hub,wheel+bearing+&+hub+assembly,1636 SKF, Timken or OEM highly preferred. No idea on the Centric product, but that 90 day warranty is not awe-inspiring LOL.

SKF would be the best. OEM or Timken next. -

Rear brakes won't retract after brake job
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to fordedge2's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
2011 on do not use the brake drum/shoes emergency setup. Just the plain ole rotor & caliper. I believe to compensate, the rear rotors are the same size as the fronts. EDIT: Rear is a bit LARGER than front!!! SSM 47112 – 2015-2018 Edge/2016-2018 MKX – Liftgate Ajar Message Remains On And/Or Alarm Activation Some 2015-2018 Edge and 2016-2018 MKX vehicles may exhibit a concern of the liftgate ajar message remains on with the liftgate fully closed. The customer may also complain of an intermittent alarm activation. This may be due to a broken switch inside of the liftgate latch. Replace the liftgate latch. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-14. For claiming, use causal part 7443150 with the appropriate body code for your vehicle and applicable labor operations in Section 12 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) Manual. def ripe for suspension upgrade then.
-
Probably a suspension/alignment issue. I had the same thing going on with my 07 AWD till I replaced all struts/shocks/mounts. No more RWD action for me LOL. Trailing arms should also be checked, tho I have never seen them mentioned as an issue on this forum. How many miles on your Edge?

For an experienced tech, about 4 hours of work. It's more of a pain dealing with the seals than anything else, because there are specific procedures to follow otherwise you will really muck it up. So if you are mechanically inclined and detail oriented, you could do it, and of course put new seals on, NO reuse. Can definitely get the PTU completely cleaned out this way, plus inspect gearing and bearings for wear. An option you might consider instead is to take the vent cap off completely and install a tube extension like they have for other model lines; thinking of the Taurus specifically. Basically a tube extending into the engine bay with the vent cap on top, much easier to service IF needed, but gives the lube more room to breathe. you will have to source the hose yourself as the Taurus hose diameter is different IIRC. You clamp the hose onto the vent, maybe a spring lock like you get from OEM or a regular hose clamp you get at the store.

2015 Edge Sport with P25B0 trouble code
WWWPerfA_ZN0W replied to enginjoe's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
The f150 reference. Could be a PCM calibration error. A Rousch manual says possibly "P25B0 Fuel Level Sensor “A” Stuck" Ford E-Series and F-Series ProductsDescription The SRM reads Fuel Level Sender (FLS) input and broadcasts it to the IC and PCM. If the vehicle is driven a considerable distance and the FLS value doesn't change, the fault is set. Possible Causes Fuel Level Sender fault Wire fault between FLS and SRM SRM fault Symptom The driver is unaware of a low fuel condition. tsb15-0040.pdf -
warranty availability goes back as far as the 2006 MY apparently. of course the older your vehicle, the more sparse the coverage options. being you have a low mileage 2013, you should have pretty good options. here in the U.S., we go through online ford dealerships, you will likely need to find a canadian dealership that does the same. Contact these guys and see what they can do for you. there are some U.S. dealers online that say they can issue plans for Canadian vehicles as well. https://www.lombardfordwarrantys.com/contact.cfm
