Preparing to Purchase 1st Edge (Used) - Seeking Advice
wannabang replied to JeffRow's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
It was last year, so the '08 wasn't as old, and it was an SEL that came from a dealer with a 3 yr warranty, since I knew I'd surpass the 75k mile original warranty, it seemed like a good price. -
Preparing to Purchase 1st Edge (Used) - Seeking Advice
wannabang replied to JeffRow's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Some things I noticed when test driving those years, some ACs didn't blow as hard as they should, some plastic panels looked faded. I haven't had any issues with my FWD '08 SEL. Bought it for $19k with 69k miles. Hope you find one that fits you! -
Looks real pretty, and congrats on the baby! Welcome! It's good to have another first gen'er here. Thought we were being overrun.

Steering wheel issue
wannabang replied to Tom Champagne's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I've actually noticed that, where I put my hand on the wheel (at 12 oclock) there is massive wear. My medium stone interior now has a steering wheel with a worn down and dark brown spot on the back side of the wheel. No clue if it's from where or heat or the combination. -
That a new addition? Looks good!

20" Black Wheels (from Appearance Package) Set For Sale
wannabang replied to Gcca's topic in Classifieds
Will wheels from the '13 fit an '08? -
I have cloth seats in my Edge. I'd take anything to get the stain removed from my seats. Tide-to-go Pens and fabric stain removers aren't cutting it.
-
I disagree. I choose the options on the car to limit the cost as much as possible since I know I'm going to upgrade certain parts of it right away. I would never get upgraded audio or NAV, HIDs, or any 20" chrome wheels, since I'm more inclined to get wheels that make the car unique. OP, I've never heard of/had any of the issues you mentioned. I love my HIDs (even thought they're in reflector housings, shhhh) but I've re-aimed them so no one flashes me and they still benefit a lot. You won't have that problem. I enjoy my pano roof, though. Congrats on your edge, and I hope you love it just as much as we do.
-
I may do the pads, lines, and fluid for mine, but I'm not sure my mom will want me to mod hers in anyway. I may convince her of tint and HIDs, but she'll definitely have Nav, back-up camera, HIDs, and an upgraded stereo from the factory. Unfortunately, she enjoys spending money for sub-par equipment rather than letting me work on it. She'll definitely be test driving the '13.

That looks fantastic! I have the same battery, but my wires don't match up to the terminals too well. How you get yours to look so perfect?! My bat is rotated 180 compared to yours and it seems that neither cable is able to sit entirely flat. No worries, though, they're very secure.
-
It definitely helps. When I have my roof open, I can't see anything on my dash, but the tint, when it's closed, helps so much. Mike, how did you go about tinting lighter? My windows were tinted at the factory, I assume yours were, and I want all my tint to match perfectly. Since you can't take off the factory tint, did you replace your windows?
-
Will do. It was going to happen anyway, but since my younger brother was looking at a '10 Sport she decided to try that out and judge the new ones on that.
-
I've been having the same thing happen, just ignored it and assumed I was catching the tranny between gears. Guess I should ask someone about it.
-
I'm not sure if it is worth it either. I have an '08 and the dealer showed me a history report that said the only work it's ever had done was an alignment and panel replacement after a sideswipe. No a/c fixes, starter problems, or power steering issues my last car had. On its fifth year of life now, and since I bought it used, I have an extended 3 yr / 100k mile warranty and haven't had any issues.

My mom has had a '99 Honda Odyssey since new. It's racked up about 205k miles and she's assigned me the task of finding her a replacement since my brother has 2 years left of school and I'm out of the house. She's test driven a '10 Sport and the new Escape, but she doesn't like Ford's brake pedal. She always complains that it's not as responsive as she'd like it to be. Here's her conditions: -It can be no smaller than a CRV and no bigger than a minivan (no third row). -She could care less about gas mileage, hates four cylinders, but appreciates the EcoBoost. -Total budget is about $40k with a little wiggle room. -Reliable First, is there anything that use Edge owners can do to the new Edge's brakes to make them more responsive? Second, what would you recommend? Thanks for the help, y'all.

Should i upgrade again?
wannabang replied to AllenCasaletto's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Sorry about that. The brother of the owner is a webpage developer so they're constantly making it easier to navigate. I guess last time they changed it, the link to the store changed, too. http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/ There you go, and it is up and running. Also, remembered that it wasn't Bravox, I don't think they stock those anymore. My brother told me they were Incriminator Audio... I should've known this. You can check out my build log. I already have a box, but it's for a 15" SSA Icon, so I have the whole height of the trunk, but only ten inches of depth. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone do what I described on here. I used to own JL equipment, and it is spectacular stuff, just extremely overpriced, plus I like working with my hands. LOL I'm sure you could fit a couple 8s under the floor or some slim 10s or 12s. I know JLs bottom line stuff is cheap and still well-made. I put a couple 12s of the W1s or W0s under the seats of my buddy's F150. Our trunk is much easier to work with and wire. Maybe I'll get tired of not having my whole trunk and venture into what I described, but I'm a college student. Money doesn't allow for constant experimentation.- 12 replies

Mirror housing. Sorry, Dan. I couldn't think of the word and went with module. I don't currently have puddle lights, but it'd be great to just find a totaled Edge somewhere and swap the mirror housing and run wires. I assume it can be done, but locating mirrors and running wires would be pretty tedious.- 16 replies

Should i upgrade again?

That sounds like a good combo. I've always been a fan of alpine type-r components, and I put Bravox is my brother's ride this year and he loves them. (soundsolutionsaudio.com/store) is where you can find Bravox. Doinf away with the rear speakers should be fine if you don't have riders often. I get complaints from them that there's "too much bass in the back seat." LOL. I've never take the pillars off to find out how much room there is, but they seem pretty big and empty. Just mount them in a little PVC end. ...I'd be willing to do a box like that for you this summer, but then you have shipping and it's probably not anymore cost efficient.- 12 replies

I don't suppose you know of how difficult it would be to swap the entire module out on my '08 so I can get puddle lights... They're pretty cool.- 16 replies

Should i upgrade again?
wannabang replied to AllenCasaletto's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If you're looking for a better sound, you could actually build a box to replace those things under the floor around the spare. You could even utilize the current amp. Build it so that the box is the same height as those current supports and just recess the sub with a grill on it. That way, your floor is still supported and you have better sound quality than with that stock sub. Or just replace the stock box with a wooden one. I always hated that stock sub. I might just take it out entirely.- 12 replies

I'm not sure about the other window switches, but I know my driver's window lock doesn't light up.

H-rated for the summer it is, then. Maybe that'll be enough to convince me to get some 22s...
