I'd say that's normal. I only hit 24 on super flat highways at 65-75 mph in my '08. Usually I get 19-20 mixed and 22 on long trips.

Yeah, I've been installing audio for three years. It's plug and play in terms of, you connect the equipment to the original stuff without drilling, but you will need to connect each wire to the appropriate wire of the stock harness. There's about around 30 wires back there, but it's the most time consuming part.

Yeah, it was like $60 if I remember. Easy install and instructions (which are online). When I added the deck to my cart, it came up as something they recommended I buy.

The steering wheel controls require purchase of an aftermarket unit. I believe I got it all from Sonicelectronix. I love it and haven't had any bluetooth issues and installation didn't take more than a couple hours. Mine doesn't have nav, since I use my phone for that. Just make sure to put the hands-free mic in a convenient and effective location.

Those look amazing! They do great work there at D51 and I'm really looking forward to my first full month of work so I can have enough money to do my headlights! Those DRLs are so bright and the demon eyes look insane! Showed my brother and he goes: "Whose Edge is that? It looks gooooooood."- 26 replies

Cheap doesn't exist for college students. LOL Unless it's food, of course. I'll try it out, then!

How black is the "black" plastidip, and have you ever used the gloss PD makes?

About 9 months ago, I chipped a little paint off my car around the rear passenger wheel well about the size of the tip of a q-tip. Last time I got around to washing it, I noticed some rusting and didn't know if I should just invest in some touch up paint to go over it with, or risk taking off more paint scratching it out and painting over it.

Congrats! What kind of a deal did you get!? I have your younger brother by a year.

Good luck on the tails. They're on Ebay and some jdm webstie. I would think you'd search "Ford Edge projector headlights".
-
You can buy those head lights. I, too, want to know how he did his tails. A guy on here offered to do them, but for a price, of course. I need to do my grille/bezels, but I think I'm going to go with a glossy gunmetal PD, since my Edge is Ink Blue. Didn't think black would go to well.

Sub stage redesign: thinking out loud
wannabang replied to wannabang's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If I extend the top to the top of the seats, and port it with 1 3" aeroport, 30" long (with bend), I get a box about .6 cu.ft. I'll map that out in WinISD. I checked out the SA-10 as well, but don't have enough room to port that. I'm also wondering if the SD series would be better sealed than the SA series. I'll talk to some guys on an audio forum about that. -
Holy wheel gap batman! Doesn't look too shabby! I usually don't like the so-open wheels or the five spokes on the Edges.

Sub stage redesign: thinking out loud
wannabang replied to wannabang's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I've never tried fiberglass. Always thought about it, but never wanted to sink money into something I could potentially fail at and never try again. LOL JL is a fantastic company, expensive in their higher models, but great nonetheless. I went into a buying local, organic, and from small business phase, nothing against JL. I have a pioneer deck, too, and owned a 13W3 and a 500/1 that I've since passed onto my brother. The one thing I will miss about my JL amp is its efficiency. My current Cadence doesn't live up to it. -
Sub stage redesign: thinking out loud
wannabang replied to wannabang's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I used to own all JL stuff, but decided that my systems wouldn't be made of mass-produced items, with the exception of the amp, since apparently those are expensive to have handmade.. I already have my amp, and 1 cube would be hard-pressed. I'll probably leave the stock sub, and hopefully replace it with a midbass driver. Thanks! -
I've had the car a year, along with the current sub stage, but spring break made me realize that I don't have as much room as I thought for long trips with luggage and passengers. For those familiar with my current set up, I built my own floor to allow me access to the spare tire and some storage space while keep the stock floor height. Here's a picture. So my new plan is to create two separate boxes for two Sundown SA-8s, one in each. These boxes will be on either side of the car, with the sub facing back, and fit on top of the side storage boxes only. Its inner side will be angled to allow enough room for the 8" sub to be mounted at the top and allow for the center of the floor to fold to the sides (cut into fourths), to allow me access to the spare. I'm on vacation, so I'm unable to do particular measuring, and I'll sell my current set up before I begin. These are simply preliminary thoughts. I have a rough sketch of what the box will look like. It will most likely be sealed, since it's going to be hard to keep it relatively small, below the headrests, and have enough volume for the SA-8. This box is around .62 cu.ft. What do y'all think? I haven't yet figured out where/how to mount the amp.

Just a little update after a little time of use. The camera is great, and even though it doesn't have night vision features, the reverse lights are plenty. I've backed up in utter darkness and it picks up light extremely well.

The mini and GOAT look damn good.

Just got back from a 5 hour round trip little vacation to Akron and back. Took 270 to 71, for any of you familiar with the area, the only hills I came across were the ones further north on 71. Besides the frequent reduction of speed for the littered porkers checkin' for speeders, I maintained a constant 75-85 mph the whole trek. On my return, the readout displayed 21.9, but got it back up to 23.something when finally getting home. Here's some pics to prove mileage on the way up. Keep in mind: '08 with a 3.5L. To prove that I reset it. Decided to take this in case it was the highest mpg I got, but it wasn't. 24 mpg @ 80 mpg Don't let the speedo throw ya off. Took this in a construction zone. It was a whole 10 miles long

I'll do this today! I'm making a two hour trip, and just got back from one. Got 21 mpg, so hopefully it stays up there.

I need remote start advice
wannabang replied to Jackman5000's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I had some pros install a viper system for me, but the system came with instructions on how to do so. Viper is easily top of the line.
