  1. Mikeeyd: White Vinegar. Target food section $0.89. Use it to de-scale my coffeemaker too. The spots are likely calcium chloride (CaCl) residue from a rogue sprinkler (how dare it hit your car!). Apply the vinegar using a microfiber cloth. Do not use anything abrasive. It may take some time to break down the CaCl salt, put it on rub it around some, wipe with the microfiber. Do a small section at a time. Good Luck!
  2. Shanker: Here is the excerpt from a '08 Edge service manual. for your use. I'm not sure if it is applicable to the 2010 though. Use at your own risk. Good luck! Ford Edge Bearing Front.pdf
  3. shadybiz: Is this your first set of plugs? You need to be careful that the gap isn't too big on any of the plugs otherwise you'll cook the ECM. Hopefully your ECM is still intact. At 110k it's time to replace all the plugs with new and then scan for error codes again. This website has detailed instructions on how to do that. If the plugs are newer, then my money's on the ECM. But wait! The #4 injector may be fouled too! Take a mechanic's stethoscope put it on the injector and listen for the clicking noise. Compare what you hear on #4 with cylinders #5 and #6. Bad/clogged injectors also cause misfires. Good luck!
  4. May also be a bad cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor. What does your temperature gauge read? When you remove your keys from the key switch, does the fan keep running for longer than a minute or two?
  5. Ren: Glad to hear your son is ok. Here are excerpts from the service manual that may help you out. It should be pretty straight forward. There are plastic tabs and clips or pins that hold everything together. If some of the brackets are broken you may need to visit a junk yard or two to get those items. Screws hold the assembly in place, but the pins and clips do most of the work. The assemblies lift out and drop in for the most part. The fan assembly replacement is well documented on this site and there is a youtube video for the bumper removal. BTW, this is a great father-son teaching moment. Good luck. 6. CorvZ061 My money is on the brake switch. Here are some wiring diagrams that may help you out. The brake switch has two poles, one of which is an input to the PCM. Good Luck! 2008 FLOOR CONSOLE WIRING.pdf 2008 FORD EDGE BRAKE SWITCH.pdf Ford Edge Shifter Wiring.pdf
  7. USAFEOD: There are two flavors of radiator cooling fan controllers, towing and non-towing. This post discusses the attributes of each, you'll find your answers in the thread. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12731-radiator-fan-assembly-replacement-procedure/ The modules are mildly different. The tow module has two 40A fuses and the non-tow has a single 60A fuse. The fan controller output wiring differs slightly, but the inputs to the fan controller seem the same down to their placement on the connectors and the color of the wire. Here is a wiring diagram for your use, it's from 2008 but it should be the same. The only concern would be to double up on the fuses, this way you blow both 40s, right? Good luck. 11. Oillia: What color is the wire you are connecting the hot to?
  12. Jt86m The rails can be installed on the vista roof. If you are comfortable using basic tools, you can install them. Here is the procedure in a nutshell. Get a step stool. Remove the trim with a plastic trim removal tool or cover the blade of your screw driver with some masking tape. You'll be surprised how easy the strip pops off. It's made out of aluminum and has resale value, so be careful not to bend it up. It's also good to have around in case you want to go back. The new trim uses the same clips that your existing trim is attached to. There are three clips across each side, leave the center one in place. Remove the outside (front and rear) clips, this is where the feet of your new rails will land. The Ford rails come with new clips and screws. The holes in the "feet" that attach rails to the car seemed too large for the given screw, so I put a thick washer there to keep the screw from biting into and passing through the foot (the feet are made of plastic). The screws have some goop on them to make them watertight, but there seems to be enough goop in the holes already. You'll need to press a little on the new screws to get them started into their holes. After the feet are installed, the trim snaps into place and then the covers snap over the feet to conceal the screws. Total time, about 20 minutes per side, working really slow. The rails are not that rigid without the crossbars and while the Ford crossbars fit as mentioned on this forum, they prevent the roof from opening. The Thule crossbars fit and after I put the Thule cross bars on, the platform became very rigid and stable. IMO, the Thule crossbars took longer to install than the rails did. It is a little nerve racking to tie things down over the vista roof. Resist the temptation to use a cargo bag placed directly on the glass roof without the benefit of a basket or crossbars. I brought a ladder with me the other day and used some ratcheting ties downs to secure it, the thought of dropping one of the hooks on the glass and breaking it is scary. I'm now looking for velcro straps to use as tie downs to ease my concerns. This thread was also very helpful. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8592-oem-roof-rack-install/ Good luck!
  13. Dora says: 360 degrees divided by 4 equals 90 degrees (quarter turn). 45 degrees is half of 90 degrees, so that is an eighth of a turn. 45 x 8 = 360.
  14. Seems like it. Either +30 or +40 will work. The 40's will be 0.5 cm closer to the strut. go to http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=265&aspect=45&diameter=20&wheelwidth=9&offset=30&width2=265&aspect2=50&diameter2=20&wheelwidth2=9&offset2=40#content Great site to analyze tire and wheel selections.
  15. Hurry! There seems to be one more left! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steeda-2008-Ford-Edge-Rear-Swaybar-for-2-wheel-drive-only-PN-555-1059-/181743212367
  16. Well the sway bar makes the Edge grip the corners even better! A noticeable decrease in body roll over stock. The stock diameter was 23mm, the Steeda diameter is 25mm. The Steeda bar weighs in at 14 lbs. I still need to weigh the stock bar, but it is much lighter and feels hollow or thinner compared to the Steeda. I would stay away from the spring clamps. Stick with the H&R or the Eibach spring kits. Much safer that way. Now to find the tower brace. Have fun.
  17. Just bought a discontinued Steeda rear sway bar on ebay within minutes of reading this post. Steeda discontinued this part some time ago and I've been looking for one ever since. 20"s with H&R springs is pretty sticky and significantly reduces body roll over stock. I'll report on what the fatter sway bar does. Wondering now if oversteer will become an issue. Nothing like a loose tail in the rain.
  18. Are all 268k on the same water pump? That would be a real miracle!

  21. Merry Christmas one and all!
  22. You could swap the o2 sensors side to side and see if the code moves with the sensors. Did you replace the cat on the side with the misfire? Are these stock Ford cats or aftermarket?
