  1. It is very (really, VERY) easy to swap out the halogen bulbs for HID kits. Many of have done just that (myself included). You'll find that most are using DDM kits and others are using TheRetrofitSource (morimoto) Kits. Feel free to ask away and we will gladly point you in the right direction and help you get them installed. My vote is for the 5k temp bulbs. You'll want to order 9006 or 9005 size kits (a few users have reported the 9005's are easier to get into the socket.
  2. Prinzll is looking into just that right now... http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/12373-the-ultimate-hid-upgrade/?do=findComment&comment=95767
  3. Yes, the edge has a mechanical shutter that raises to allow the full amount of light through the projectors (high beams) and then closes to cutoff the beam for the "low beams". Perfect setup for HIDs.
  4. I'll be in china in a few weeks. I'll get the knock-offs "handled" . Looking forward to your 1st production run!!
  5. Why get switchbacks if you don't care about the white lights? You could have just purchased the amber only lights.
  6. Dan, wouldn't the use if your kit (which I would recommend) require that the OPs edge had lights to begin with? I'm assuming he does not currently have oem puddles. Do non puddle light mirrors contains the spade connectors and wires?
  7. Another cool mod is the rear bumper guard. Many go with the OEM, the one for the scion xb or a clear bra type product. You can always swap the antenna for a mini/BMW one, or stubby brand makes one as well. I've got my mods listed in my sig.
  8. Go with 2 iPads and you'll save half the cost of the DVD system. I thought about having an integrated system, but the iPad attached to the headrest works great for our 4 year old (the younger one will have to wait to be forward facing).
  9. You can use your existing projectors. The hids are plug and play. Morimoto has instructions on their site, so does ddm. Both are connected identically (well, the TRS kit has one unused connector).
  10. Start with a mute button for the wife. Then, go with the LEDs and HIDs. Can't go wrong there.
  11. I do wish people would read all the posts on the sh!tty DDM harnesses. If you're going with 35W, go without a harness. If you're going to run 50/55W harnesses, build your owd or pick up a well made harness (e.g. TRS).
  12. Whew, I'm glad you explained... I just couldn't grasp the socks and sandals combo. Now I get it. Congrats in your upcoming new addition! Sub boxes look great.
  13. No, there's a date (march 15th, I think) that they are required to have them on through. After match 15th they are no longer mandatory. Yeah, I worded that poorly.
  14. Of course. Here's a photo from last night (20 hours into the storm). Hopefully no one is smart enough to triangulate my room from the photo. Would just be weird.
  15. I don't think they are mistaking the hids as high beams, passer-bys are mistaking the white switchbacks as high beams (they are a second set of white light on the front of the car after all),
  16. I assume that Nate is referring to switchbacks? I do get the occasional flash from passer-bys. I simply flip them the brights and thank them for noticing.
  17. Aren't you glad you kept the snow tires on (4 days past the legal day to remove them)?? I'm in Montreal now (at the Marriott Chateau Champlain) and admiring the 6 - 8" downfall since 4am this morning.
  18. Sorry fish, I completely ignored the fact you stated type 1s. Correct, they should be simple PnP.
  19. Fish, are you using resistors? That describes, almost exactly, the issues I was having before using the 6ohm load resistors.
  20. You check to make sure the harness isn't melted? That had been a problem with the ddm harness (more with 55w kits, but couldn't hurt to check). Others have reported they used capacitors, specifically made for hid kits that had fixed the problem you're describing. I don't recall the exact post but you can search for it.
  21. True... Well put fish. So you can buy multiple ddm kits or 1 morimoto kit.
