It is possible that one is not installed in your edge (or it's installed in a location that is not noticeable). Have you tested to verify one is installed? You can test it by rolling down the front window with the doors closed, then use your fob to lock the doors from outside. Then reach in through the window and open the door without unlocking it. If you have an alarm that will trigger it. I do know that many sites claim the VSS is included in the power liftgate versions of the edge, but, I also know that many changes were made to the MY 2013 edge concerning the remote start and vehicle security. Are you ultimately looking for key fob, long range or remote access remote start for your edge?

Climate control led backlights
candurin replied to capz65's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You can look in this thread for some ideas/suggestions: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10943-the-real-led-conversion-interior-lights-change/page-1 -
Just to channel my inner Dell Help Support line. Have you checked to make sure they are enabled in the MFT menu? Perhaps they need to be re-enabled after the replacement and sync update?

Question about DRL's
candurin replied to ALLEN007's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
DRL can be set to the parking/turn lights or headlights (voltage reduced output) via IDS. If you want the DRL's to be in the vertical lights, you're better off with aftermarket: http://drivebright.com/home/shop/ford-edge-led/ -
Aron, it is likely simple confusion. As you have a Canadian edge, your Headlights are utilized as DRLs (simply a lower voltage is supplied to the headlight bulb). Perhaps all other places assume the DRL is operated via separate filament, but this is not the case. You can always call a dealer or even try a set of dual filament bulbs to ensure that this is NOT the type you need. Also, be aware that you will need to go to a dealer (or anyone that has access to Ford's IDS tool) to have your DRLs relocated (via programming) from your headlights to your parking/turn lights. Otherwise, HID kits won't work at the reduced voltage and you will lose the DRL functionality anyway (or risk damaging your HID kit).

Last year CinnamonEdge did a really good video on the entire process and used dielectric grease as a lubricant.

4-pin the entire way. The Edge is designed for light duty towing, whereas a heavier duty truck (e.g. F-150) has a 7 pin wiring harness that includes a connection for an optional Integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC). You can have this application for your edge, but you need some aftermarket solutions. This is a good place to start: https://www.etrailer.com/question-107459.html The 2015 application should be similar to the 2015, but, I would inquire with etrailer before making any purchases.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
candurin replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
OEM. I've tried a bunch of the aftermarkets and all seem to perform identically. As I pre-paid all my oil changes and scheduled maintenance, everything is OEM from the dealership. Before the question is asked, I have a set corporate reimbursement for my vehicle and I was able to get the ESP and scheduled maintenance plan covered under that agreement. Or else, I would not endorse the pre-paid plans (you can always get a better deal when each individual maintenance is due). -

My bad! Quite jealous of the new sync system. -
Remote start and sync connect edge '16
candurin replied to mdy113's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I have the Ford remote access (remote start from android or iPhone) app on my phone and starts my '12 edge, no problem. You simply have to by the the ford remote access kit for your remote start. Unless the sync 3 has this built in? -
Can anyone explain hid conversion kits to me?
candurin replied to Beckaloo's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Nick, typically I agree with everything you say. (And appreciate the advice given), however, putting an HID into a halogen projector will not blind oncoming traffic. I have done this 4 years ago in my edge and have never had an issue nor a single flashback from another driver. If I pull to the end of my driveway and look at my light pattern on my garage door (60' away), I have a pretty good cutoff in my halogen projectors with no stray or errant light above that line. Yes, a true retrofit with high end projectors is ideal, but, it is not dangerous nor deleterious to oncoming traffic to do so in the 2011+ edge with halogen projectors. Yea, retrofits into halogen reflectors are bad. -
I did the same. A 6" length of phone cord (rj-11, if I recall) with a 1 amp in-line fuse and a blend mount. I really like the tidiness of my redline install. I am going to bite the bullet and get the direct escort live kit and I'll cleanly attach the escort live device to my mirror and make a smaller 6-pin phone cable for the escort live connection.

I have to agree and disagree with everyone. You will notice a vast improvement with your 2012 edge by retrofitting HID into your car. As you are using projectors (the older, pre-2011 edge, used reflectors) you will not blind oncoming traffic. You will have a decent cutoff of your light pattern. You can install them safely and easily (the hardest part is getting the new bulbs twisted into the sockets). You want a kit that has a wire harness (optional, but recommended), ballasts and bulbs. That's all you need. There are tons of videos and plenty of instructions on here and via Google. Just stick with 4300k-5000k bulbs to have the most "illuminating" spectrum of light (anything higher will be more blue in color and will diminish the actual lumens output). Blue headlights on a rainy road is dangerous.... -
It could have been a fleet vehicle, in which case leather would have been an available option.

Stick your fingers in the hollow and pull downwards. The entire "handle" is designed to slide towards the bottom seat.

My wife broke my mirror backing into the garage a year or so ago. Picked up a used mirror on eBay and simply took my tuxedo black cover off and swapped it with the replacement mirror. All in was $80 (heated mirror) and 10 minutes of my time.

2012 Door Removal/Speaker Install
candurin replied to davisontech's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Not sure a video is really needed. It took me less than 5 minutes to get the door panel off. The bolt locations are clearly marked. Just make sure to lift up when removing the panel (to clear the door lock). Having said that, this should help: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ODFY9TS6GsY -
Actual good LED Headlights
candurin replied to Dingo's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Interesting... Didn't realize that little "hood" was on all the LED kits (platinum LMZ, OP7, etc). That's a great projector mod for all of them, I'll have to blow the dust off my Dremel. -

Great to see you back, Dingo. I'm still enjoying my TRS 55w setup. Original everything, 4 years running... So, do you feel that LED gives a lot more useable light? I'm considering the switch, but only if it is truly beneficial. I do like that it would bring back "flash to pass" functionality during the daytime.
