I have a 2.5 year old HID conversion kit in my Edge and I just lost a lamp tonight. Just curious as to what the expected lifespan of HID lamps would be. Do the lamps dim over time before dying out like incandescent lamps do or is it full power til death? Since one lamp is out, should I replace both at the same time? thanks.

Can you post the TSB or a link to it? -
I want to get these wheels for my 13 SEL. Anyone know what model number they are? There is also a gold tinged wheel that is similar. They are from a Lincoln MKX. The one with the rectangular grill.

Pretty much every 2015 vehicle I see locally has LED DRL. Must be a Canadian thing.
-
Just saying that every other new vehicle has super bright extremely visible LED's. That's all.
-
I see Ford dropped the ball again with DRL LED. Saw my first 2015 on the road today and shook my head at what they put for lights in the bumper. Looks like they took all the extra light pipes from the 11-14 models and bent them into triangles. That in itself would make me not buy another edge.

I would cut a template out of cardboard like I did and secure that to the vehicle and see if you like the height.

Here are the ones on my 13 SEL. The bottom of the flap is 6" from the ground. I used hole T, J and B/P 2 of the holes lined up. I used the speed clips that came with the flaps to secure the 3rd screw to the wheel liner so no holes needed to be drilled in the metal.
-
I cut mine and have a template I could send you which also shows the holes. How much you cut determines the finished distance off the ground.

I want to clean under the cover. How do the 2 retaining clips on top come off? Do they just pull straight out like a door panel clip?

Had my 40k service and some of the wheels needed to be rebalanced. Where they removed the old weights there remains ugly glue residue. What works best to remove that?

2013 Edge SEL - Headlight bulb replacement
normcloutier replied to Chris Purvis's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Remove the dust cap from the rear of the headlight housing. Turn counterclockwise. Remove bulb housing from headlight assembly. Turn counterclockwise. Using gloves so you do not get oil from your hands on bulbs, replace lamp. Insert bulb housing. Install dust cap.- 1 reply

Vanity Mirror LED’s?
normcloutier replied to Craigtaz's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Keep in mind that incandescent light will be easier on your eyes when looking into the mirror. LED will be brighter and whiter but not so friendly. -
OEM Ambient lighting kit question
normcloutier replied to ravishingrocket's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I would use a step bit. I see these new instructions show light engines in the footwell instead of the tubes. Has anyone used this new kit? -
OEM Ambient lighting kit question
normcloutier replied to ravishingrocket's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I finally found the site that had the installation instructions. My question is has anyone installed this kit? I really wanted this feature from factory but it wasn't available on the 13 SEL. 2013_Truck_Ambient_Lighting_9-25-2012.pdf -
I have a 13 SEL and feel the same way. I prefer driving my F-150 4 door 4 x 4 service truck. Way more pep and more fun to drive. Down shifting on the edge is my dislike. You have to depress the accelerator way to much to get it to down shift. By the time it downshifts, your nearly 3/4 of the way to the floor and then it's over accelerating once it does shift. Not sure why they put 6 gears in it if it's always in fifth in the city. Feels like your always pulling a pup trailer.

Daytime Driving lights

What would look hokey? You would never know the turn signal LED's existing you went right up to the light and looked. -

You could use the ones from www.drivebright.com and not connect the turn signal trigger. -
Hmm. Cant seem to paste a link from the video that I used. If you search for "removing headlights and grill" it will be the first one in the list. Note that you don't have to remove the 9 screws in the bottom.. Only the 2 outer ones on each end. Leave the skirt attached to the bumper.
-
I have done this a half dozen times already. Pretty easy once you know what to do. You have to remove the front bumper in order to remove the headlight housing. There is a video on the forum that details the removal. Hardest part is removing the clips that hold the accent light pipes to the bumper. What HID kit are you using?

Trying Lysol to kill stink before the stink kills me
normcloutier replied to normcloutier's topic in Lounge
I just received the Lubegard this week but haven't tried it yet. It's been terribly cold (just above freezing) and I am not inspired to crawl under the vehicle. I will post the results once I have a chance to use it. -

I'll try turning mine off every time I drive for the next week and see if I can notice any difference.
