Mooshu, did you install the Canadian Tire ones? How did they fit? Which ones were they?

I am converting to HID and I wanted to know what voltage and current the halogen headlights operated at to ensure existing wiring was adequate for the ballasts so I ran some tests. Here are the results for my vehicle. Headlights on full 14 volts and 4.3 amps Headlights on DRL 10 volts and 3.3 amps So if you are running a kit on existing wiring without a harness, you have to make sure the ballasts will work at 10 volts.

I am going to install a HID kit over the holidays. Does anyone know if the end cap on the projector is available for purchase seperately? If the HID's don't work out, I would switch back to halogen but would need new end caps because of the holes drilled in them to run the HID harness.

Can any fellow Canadians suggest a good upholstery shampoo? I had a new pair of jeans that turned my front seat blue. The dye has come off onto the seat. The seats have fabric protector on them so the dye should come off.

Remote Start helps MPG!
normcloutier replied to cjd3's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The seats on my 13 SEL will turn on with remote start (if selected to do so in the settings menu) but only below a certain temp and yes, will shut off when you start the vehicle. If you want the seats back on, you need to activate it from MFT -

My heated seats will only come on with remote start when the outside temp is below a certian point. Not sure exactly what temp but it's pretty close to freezing (0C or 32F) -
can you see the mod?

Nice. I'll have to put mine there. -
For those of you that have TPM on your snow tires, did you use ones from Ford? How much would it cost to have a dealer program them if tires and wheels were bought elsewhere?

Is the decreased winter mpg also perhaps a function of the AC compressor running when the defrost is active? I asked the dealer if they could shut it off and they said no. On my previous non Ford SUV, the AC would come on when you set the system to front defrost only but you could turn it off afterwards. I understand the need to run the compressor occasionally during the winter but seems like a heck of a waste of fuel to run it constantly for 6 months when it below freezing.

Either I haven't been paying attention or this is something new. On the way to work this morning, I was listening to sirius and with MFT on the home screen, the entertainment tab was displaying the song name. Cool I thought. About time. My daughter is always asking me the name of songs and it's a pain to have to switch between the entertainment and home screens. Went out after lunch, and all I got was "Entertainment". WTH? Is this song specific? I can't imagine it being so. Either it will display or it won't. Anyone else notice this? I would like this to work all the time.

I have a 13 SEL that has 20" Scorpion all seasons. I'm not sure what seasons they are referring to but after sliding around all day in the first snowfall of the season, I'll label them as 3 season lol. I have never owned snow tires so I am wondering what the preference is for size? From the forum, 17's seem popular. Is it price? Performance?

I have a 2013 SEL AWD with an intermittent front end problem. It started about 2 months ago. Occasionaly while driving, the vehicle would start pulling to the right. Not drastic but enough that I know that it's not just the crown in the road. Problem comes and goes. Seems to start after hitting bump, going over train tracks, etc and then will disappear just as fast but not consistently. About a month ago, the problem keeps occuring but sometimes it a hard pull to the right. If I let go of the wheel, I would completely change lanes in about 4 vehicle lengths. Sometimes a hard pull, sometimes soft and sometimes drives straight as an arrow. I took it to dealer thinking alignment. They ran an alignment check on it. Said toe was out. Drove home and the problem still exists but now the steering wheel was off centre. Took it back again. Was told that they had a few alignments done the previous week that had some issues and they would put a different tech on it. Second alignment done. Drove away. Problem still exists and steering wheel is just about right but still off. Back a third time for the service manager to come for a ride. Right out of the dealership, vehicle is pulling to the right. He thinks tread is separating on the right front tire. Vehicle goes back in shop and has front tires interchanged (passenger to driver and driver to passenger). I was told to report back to see if anything changed. Not 2 minutes away from dealer and vehicle is intermittently pulling hard left. OK, issue with tire. Was told that belts should come back together. Two days later and pulling to left stopped but pulling to right still happens. Never hard right now but occasional slight right. Back to dealer this morning to drop off. They will have it til tomorrow at least to try to determine what the issue is. Anyone have ANY idea what this could be? Would tread separation be intermittent like that? Could both tires have been bad and it was just more extreme to the right? Not sure how to explain the come and go pulling to the side.

Anyone else who has headlights as DRL's successfully get HID's installed? My dealer wont even acknowledge they can change the DRL function to the turn signals. I would think that the relay harness would be a must otherwise the reduced voltage would not let the ballast operate properly but may be enough to fire the relay. Anyone meter the voltage on the halogen when on DRL? Curious what it is? Someone mentioned pulsating voltage when the lamp is running as DRL. Comments?

Sometimes I think people on this forum know more about the Edge than the dealers do. I stopped in at my dealer to inquire about reprogramming the DRL's. The first service person didn't even know that some edges have the amber lights as DRL's. The second of course said that kind of programming has to be done at factory.

Exact thing happened to me on Saturday. The map would update as I drove around but the red triangle and area around it were missing. I popped my update usb back in and reloaded the file. Only took a few seconds. MFT did a scheduled maintenance right after (not sure if its related or not). After the reboot, the map was fine.

Sirius XM hits 1 had the MFT female voice announce their station id yesterday. Gave me a good giggle.

A while back I was reading a post about an owner who reported better fuel economy at the 5k mark. Discussions included perhaps the computer running the engine rich during break in, etc. I am glad to report that after my first fill up after the 5k mark, my DTE has gone from an avaerage of 450km to 530km. Not sure what the exact reason is but I'll take it with a smile. Just hope there is another FORD "gift" at the 10k mark lol.

Rotating tires and Directional Tires
normcloutier replied to AmyLovesHerEdge's topic in Wheels & Tires
So what about an AWD? I only got my edge this spring so I have not experienced how the wheel power is applied in a slip situation. Do all 4 wheels receive power under normal driving conditions and then reduced power to spinning wheels in slippery conditions? -
As in Canada, your edge uses the headlights as DRL. The difference between daytime and nightime brightness is subtle. It is easiest to see the difference just before dusk when the sensor still has the lights at daytime. Park against a wall or facing some storefront glass. Switch your headlight control between auto and on and you will see a slight difference. Or if you have a garage, pull up to the open garage with the vehicle outside and the lights shining into the dark garage. Switch between auto and on and you should see the difference. Anytime the vehicle is in gear, the headlights will be on.

You have to go to settings and start the update.

No i did not have the outside temp on my 13. I do see why everyone was upset when it was removed. Its very convenient to have it on the TS. Even my children notice it right away. They like that they can see the temp from the back seat.
