Front, driver's side bumper keeps popping out
normcloutier replied to HoustonEdge's topic in Exterior & Body
Just wondering if any of you with the bumper popping out have ever removed it from the vehicle prior to the problem? -

Nice that they made the change, not nice they charged you that much. Depends what they charge per hour for programming. Also may be a one hour minimum even if it took only 15 minutes. Guess I was lucky. Mine was free and also included a free oil change. -

EDGE2 will be easier to install without turn signal as DRL.You could always go to the appt and let the dealer see what he needs to do. You could change to turn signal DRL for now and then change to DRL off once you install EDGE2. Once you change to DRL turn signal, you can not go back to headlight DRL. Not that you would but just thought I would mention that. -

Jocelyn, keep in mind that if you plan on installing EDGE2 and have your turn signals changed to DRL, you will have to connect the turn signal triggers to the rear signal lights. Dan has found those wires in the footwell of the drivers side wire harness. If you want the dealer to turn your DRL function off and use the EDGE2 as DRL. you will have to install EDGE2 first. The dealer will not turn the DRL function off unless you have aftermarket ones already working. My dealer is willing to turn DRL but only once I have EDGE2 functioning. -
Ford Edge Vertical LED DAYTIME Running Lights - IN STOCK

Yes, just don't connect the dimming trigger. But that would make them 100% brightness at night and that would blind oncoming drivers.- 31 replies

I have a SEL that has DRL function changed from headlight to turn signal. When you flash headlights during the day, the headlights will turn on for as long as you hold the lever. When you release lever, they will shut off. I believe on factory HID vehicles, they stay on for 2 seconds and then shut off no matter how long you hold lever. -

Cwatkins, I had my dealer switch my DRL function from headlights to front turn signals because I wanted to install hid and didn't want them on all day. When I bought DTBL Edge2, I went back to the dealer to see if the led light pipes could be selected as DRL. A few members said it could be done and it would make for an easy install. Just plug them in for power but the option was not available. The OEM light pipes would never be bright enough to be used as DRL so the option to use them is not available. When you have factory hid, the front turn signals are used as DRL. To use the amber turn signal portion of the DTBL DRL, you have to connect them to the front turn signal wiring which in this case is on all the time so it won't won't work. You need to connect the turn signal trigger to the rear turn signals which is a PITA. I went to the dealer to get the DRL function changed back to the headlights but it does not appear in the list after you have changed it to front turn signals. The option to change from headlight DRL to front turn signal DRL is easy. You just have to convince your dealer to do it. To convince them to turn DRL function off in order to use DTBL DRL is more difficult and dependant on local laws. I may just keep my front turn signals as DRL and tie the turn signal trigger into the rear circuits. I have ordered a wiring manual for the 13 edge and hope to find a way to use OEM wiring to power DTBL DRL and tie the turn signal trigger into the wiring in the engine compartment. -

No. Not true. I had mine changed. I have a Canadian13 SEL. It had the headlights as DRL. The setting is in the exterior lighting section of the IDS software. The options for DRL are headlights, front turn signals or off. Note that once you change from headlight to turn signal, you can not go back to headlight. Something to consider if you plan on installing DTBL EDGE2 lights in the future. You would have to connect the turn signal trigger to the rear turn signals as the front ones will be on during the day. -

You can go to your dealer and have them switch your DRL function to the front turn signals. Takes 10 minutes. They plug in with a laptop and program it with their IDS software. -

If your headlights are used as your DRL's they will operate at only 10 volts during the day. The power to the headlight will only be at full voltage when the headlights are turned on manually or it is dark enough for them to switch on. Are you using a relay or feeding the ballasts with factory wiring? My guess is the ballasts don't have enough voltage to fire the bulb. When you start your vehicle, especially if you are parked in a dark garage, the headlights will turn on full which fire the bulb. Once they are on, they stay fired. When you park, they turn off. Now that you are outside and put vehicle in drive again, DRL is activated and only supply 10 volts which won't fire the bulbs. -

Remember to use a wire harness for 55 watt ballasts. 35's are usually ok on factory wiring but 55's need more current. -
Ambiant lighting keeps coming back on
normcloutier replied to cnysport2011's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
At least you have ambient light. I test drove a 2012 SEL FWD for a weekend which had it. Dealer said the 2013 SEL AWD I was looking to buy was identical (except for AWD of course) so I didn't even think to look for it when configuring the vehicle. Quite pissed when I got home with my 2013 and went to take the family for a drive after dark and no lighting. If you take yours out, I'll buy it......... -

3 chirps when remote locking. 2011 edge base model
normcloutier replied to 2011edgese's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Does it chirp 3 times every time? Do you have a second remote and does it do the same? Possibly low battery indication? -
Is the file the only thing on the USB drive? You should be able to browse to the system menu and select update

If anyone is considering installing Daytime Brightlites LED DRL EDGE2 lights in the future, I wouldn't recommend having your DRL activated at the dealer. This would make your turn signal (bright portion) of the lamp on all the time during the day. In order to have the EDGE2 turn signal switchback work, you need to tie into the front turn signal.

For those of you who are connecting the white wire to the original light pipe connector, how are you weatherproofing that connection?

My issue is only upon starting. Once the engine is running, brakes are fine.
-
I just had the exact same thing start happening on my 13 SEL. Normally when I go to start the engine, a slight press on the brake pedal moves it down an inch or so and the vehicle starts. At least half a dozen times in the last month when I go to start the vehicle, pressing on the brake pedal is like stepping on a brick. Doesn't move at all. Vehicle still starts but concerning just the same.

Man that really bites. Sure glad I have a garage to park in. Not sure I would want the laminate on my vehicle. If you are in an accident and you can't open the doors, then what? Bleed or burn to death?

Turn signal DRL's use the bright portion of the bulb which is the same signal that the Edge2 uses to flash amber. If connected this way, the amber portion of the edge2 would be on all the time during the day. It would operate properly at night when amber DRL would shut off.

There was an option for off but that would mean I would have to use the wire harness for power (and not sure dealer would turn them off anyway). I wouldn't even care if the turn signals and light pipes were on as DRL at the same time. Not sure what I am going to do. Really don't want to start digging around on the main wiring bundle under the dash for turn signals. Hey Dan, make the EDGE3 have a sensing circuit in the amber section that turns them off if they are on for more than one second. This way, any vehicle with turn signal DRL could still connect them for amber activation. When turn signal DRL's come on, the amber on the edge2 would come on for a second then shut off. They would to still have to respond to turn signal voltage. A drop in voltage would reset the off timer and they would flash in sync with the front turns.. When signal light is shut off, edge2 would be amber for 1 second then shut off.

So I just came from an IDS session with my dealer and the news is not good. The light pipes are not available as a DRL option in the exterior lighting menu. Something odd going on though. I have a 2013 SEL. I had my DRL function changed from the headlights to the turn signals a few months ago. The option to go back to headlights ISN'T available anymore so something in the software changed when I had my lights reprogrammed. Dealer said I may have to have the entire default programming dumped back in. So now my only option for amber turn signal activation on the EDGE2 is to tie into the rear turn signals because my front ones are on as DRL. I am curious if another 2013 SEL owner with headlight DRL's would have lightpipes in their menu? Maybe it's available until you change it?????? Booooooo.

No text messaging after master reset
normcloutier posted a topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I have had an iphone 5 for a few months now. Text notifications to MFT have sort of worked to this point. Sometimes slow to display them but worked. A few weeks ago I started having issues streaming songs from my phone. Would play through the phone instead of audio system or wouldn't play at all. A couple days ago my Nav started acting up. Would freeze on a point or wouldn't track my movement at all. I performed a master reset which fixed my Nav but now MFT says that my device (iphone) is not capabale of text messaging over bluetooth. The only thing I can see affecting this is if the latest ios is not compatible. I can't remember when I last updated my phone. I am currently running ios 6.1.4 (10B350). Is anyone running this version able to receive texts on MFT?
