  1. Does this work off cell towers or satellite? Will it work if you are parked in your garage?

  3. Yes. The tech who did my programming also said that reflashing could brick the BCM. Not sure if he was correct. Seeing as it's not a normal Ford procedure, I'm not sure who would be liable. I will look at the oasis site.
  4. I have a non-HID equipped SEL which normally would have headlights as DRL in Canada. I am adding HID so I had my dealer switch my DRL function from headlights to front turn signal. Since the front turn signals are ON during the day as DRL, I can't use it as a trigger. This is why I am investigating tying into the rear turn circuits in the fuse box.
  5. My front turn signals are on during the day for DRL. If I connect the turn signal trigger to the front, the amber portion of the EGDE2 would be on all day.
  6. Just a quick note that if you have your dealer change your DRL function from headlights to turn signals, you can not change it back. I had mine changed on my 13 SEL. Once they reprogram it, the headlights do not appear in the list anymore. Only options after the change are turn signals or off. SGI won't allow off.

  8. Yes those are the relays. Wiring diagram shows pin 5 going to turn signal connector on trailer harness. Figure that would be a nice place to tie in the turn signal triggers for the EDGE2. I can't use the front turns as they are currently on as DRL. I was going to conjure up some sort of adaptor to connect to the pin of the relay but if there is that much room under the fuse box, I would rather tie it in there and conceal all the wiring.
  9. 12Edge, when you took the top off the fuse box, how much slack was there in the wiring? Would you be able to access that wiring in order to do a wire tap? The trailer turn signal lights operate through a pair of relays in the fuse box and I was hoping to tie into those wires for my EDGE2 turn signals. Is this the image from the bottom side of the fuse box?
  10. I have a 13 SEL with MFT. Mine has been very stable on latest version. My only other comment would be fuel economy. You can expect your fuel cost to double over your Mazda 3. If that's not a concern, then Edge all the way.
  11. You can't buy the OEM kit. In Canada anyway. I inquired about it when I found out ambient lighting wasn't an option on my 13 SEL.

  14. I lent my Edge to a friend and he must have ran the wipers on a dirty window without using the washer. Wipers must have scraped some grit across the window. There is about a foot long single light scratch on the drivers side near the outer portion of the wiper area. Not that noticeable until you are in the sun then it pops out like a pinstripe. There are a few polishing kits online and I was wondering if anyone used them before? Any Canadian help would be appreciated. Can't always access U.S. products.
  15. I think what Dingo meant is that if you lived in the USA, it would be easier to sell you his kit. To cross border ship to Canada would cost too much.
  16. These kits have no connection to MFT. Color selection comes from a button installed on the centre console. Be wary of the picture that is shown with the kit. Most show an OEM light kit which isn't correct. The after market kit only comes with 1 led for a cup holder and two footwell light bars.
  17. Not sure on US models but HID was NOT available on Canadian SEL nor was ambient lighting. The ebay ones should be plug n play. The ballasts mount to the outside of the assembly but the cables pass through the side into the housing. The connector should be the same with the wiring for power, high beam shutter and side marker led's all on the one connector. You would be best to speak to someone at a dealership just to be 100% certain
  18. Yes the dealer offered to turn off the front turn signal as DRL provided I had after market DRL capability (EDGE2 in this case) and yes it would be easier to connect to the front turns. I like the look of the amber DRL and the EDGE2 at the same time so I'm torn between turning off the amber and the pain of connecting to rear turns. I have tow package on my edge so there is a relay for the trailer harness in the engine fuse box with the turn signals on it. It's just finding the time to monkey around.
  19. I purchased a 7 yr/120k with my 2013 last year. In hindsight the mileage is high. At the 18 month mark I'm only at 19k. It cost me an additional $43 a month over the 72 month purchase term. I could have declined extended warranty and just put $50 a month away towards unforeseen repairs but the value of the electronics frighten me if they need to be replaced. We replaced the instrument cluster on one of our 06 freestar vans last year and that was $1200. It was just a pair of gauges with an information display. Can't imagine what a whole new Egde one would cost.
  20. Fuse box in the engine compartment. It may be difficult to find rear turn signal wires in the wiring harness in the engine bay. Dan has found them in the drivers footwell wiring. I prefer not to run cables through the grommets so I will investigate other options. It may be a while. Now that it's cold here, I have to wait until our bay at work is empty so I can park inside. Don't want to be unbundling cables in below zero temps.
  21. I ordered a wiring manual. I havent had time to look for the wires. I am investigating using the trailer turn signal circuit relay in the fuse box.
  22. What does enabling quiet start for remote start do? Manual mentions quiet start but doesn't say what it is.
  23. Nice. Makes me think of when we used to flip the lids of the air filters over on 4 bbl carbs to get that extra sound from the engine. What did the K&N cost?
