  1. well, just like you, I know that no civic comes with hids LOL, you know which cars should have them and which shouldn't. But if you're smart about it, it won't get you stopped. If I thought it was so bad, I wouldn't have them.
  2. II think if you sent some keys and the smart key thru the blower you might've heard or felt it. Surprisedyou didn't break s shear pin. Anyway, if you did it might be confetti. The metal detector otherwise sounds like your best bet.
  3. Seems simple enough a repair. order new painted parts if you need them and get to work. If you can use the piece you had and its undamaged, maybe you just need some new clips to secure it onto the vehicle?
  4. Once installed I actually had to adjust the height of the beam so that it would not hit other drivers in the eyes. I noticed that the stock setting even with the stock bulbs was very high. It actually wasn't putting light close enough in front of my vehicle. So I found a write up on the web :stats:regarding setting up lights and it helped immensely. With that said, if you stay away from blue, purple, pink lights and take the time to properly align them, then your chances of being pulled over for your headlamps greatly diminishes. Of course, if you still decide to drive crazy, anything is fair game to pull you over for:stop:. I see it all day long, so im Just giving it to you straight.
  5. Check the oil, LOL some of us were a quart low. Make sure your salesperson runs through all the MFT functionality if you got the MFT system. If you have driver entry, have them show you all the functions of the smart key, and test them. Above all, make sure you have enough time to sign your papers and ask questions. Make them spend as much time as you need to feel comfortable in your new car. And congratulations too!
  6. Three snow falls this winter for us in NJ. No problems with the stock tires. I dont think Ill be needing the extra wheels and tires. I have been keeping on top of washing the wheels down to keep them free from salt though...thats about the only reason id want a set of beater rims.
  7. I have two sets of hids that will fit your truck. Bought and used one set, kept the second as a backup or in case I wanted to install in the dogs. Pm me if your interested. They're 35w 5000 whites.

  8. I did notice that both bulb and ballast were stamped 55 w. And just like anyone else adding aftermarket stuff, if my sjb blows up, its off to the dealer with stock bulbs. Let them prove it. But I appreciate the heads up. I ran these same lights on my 2008 for three years (and worked evenings so they saw daily use) without a hiccup. I also have them in my mr2, and Polaris RZR-S. Just wasn't sure how fitment would be going from hir2 bulb, but it seems great. looks like you have a nice product too and I'm by no means knocking you guys, I just had good luck w them and thought the $ was very fair and their customer service outstanding. Here's the best I could do w my phone camera. I took a bunch driving, parked, high beam vs low beam, pm me and ill email them to you.
  9. No problems last week with 15" and i don't expect any tomorrow with the 8"- 15" we might get. Very happy with Ford.
  10. I just installed a set of DDM 9006 55W HID's with the digital slim ballast in 5000K color, $45.00 and I love them. Its like I wasnt driving with headlights on before. Install was simple and no mods were required to the bulb base. The light is super bright crystal clear white, no blue tint whatsoever. I spoke to several members regarding what they chose and why and decided that the DDM's were the best value (includes a lifetime warranty), 55W because that's the same power draw as the stocks, and 5000K because I wanted the whitest brightest clean light. That's what i've got now and I'm loving it!
  11. I had no problems in New Jersey's last snow. We had about 15", and I charged right through our unplowed street, quite fun actually. The tires seem to perform very well. Tonight we're looking at anywhere from 8"-15" again depending where the snow bands hit the hardest. Ill be out again, yay!
  12. Im interested in pictures of the burning Saab, Bring it! And congrats on your new ride.
  13. They bought it on Amazon along with a few oil filters for me. Im sure you can find it cheaper on ebay.
  14. For christmas my in laws bought me a k&n air filter. I dropped it in and ill continue to post my impressions and calculated results here for anyone who might be interested. what I have noticed so far is a slight increase in gas mileage . In New Jersey, we usually get a winter blend of gasoline starting about a week before Thanksgiving. This gas usually drops your average fuel economy by 1 - 2 Mpg. I personally went from 18.5 to 16.9 Mpg. with the new air filter I'm currently back to 18.0. So, so far so good.
  15. my only observation of the navigation so far is that it seems to be lagging a little. I've missed several turns because it told me after I pass the street but I had to turn.
  16. I love posts like these, congratulations on your new truck . don't forget to post up pictures before it gets covered in snow
  17. were looking a the new explorer as well. What specifically are you asking? They're two very different vehicles which will serve different functions for us.
  18. TTough to give a MFT lesson on the boards, so like I said, if you have specific questions fire away and well try to help.
  19. You make a very valid point about buying your truck to load up the miles on it. Glad youre enjoying it all the same though. I too would love to see some photos of your interior, so when you get a chance dont forget to take a pew pics and pst them up for us. Best of luck with the new truck.
  20. Welcome to the forums. Is there a specific question that you have regarding your Nav or MFT system? Its always easier to use the search function to see if someone has asked your question before. The great thing about the forums is that most of us have come across similar problems before and probably have the quick answer. This wont substitute what a trained SYNC sales person could teach you in a 20 minute lesson, but you can probably get as much out of sitting in your car and playing with the system yourself with your owners manual nearby.
