I got my first SUV in 2003, a Ford Escape company car. After driving that for a while I found I really liked it over small Japanese cars. After changing careers and handing in the company car ( and gas card) I bought a 2005 Escape. In 2008 I went to my dealer for a recall repair and left with a 08 Edge limited with 20" wheels loaded with everything but headrest DVD players. I so thoroughly enjoyed my edge that I planned to buy out the lease.....until I laid eyes on the Sport model! Needless to say as soon as I saw it, I knew I was buying it to keep it and now we have a fully loaded 11 Sport.

Yep, have to pay for air at many gas stations now. I think going rate is .75 for 5 minutes. Also quirky, it's illegal to pump your own gas in NJ.

On my way home last night i got a low pressure warning light. I thought it might be because of our 7* cold, but pulled over to check. Turns out I was approx. 10 psi low in my driverside rear tire. I had purchased an $8 mini compressor from harbor freight nearly a year earlier and never used it until now. It filled my tire up in under 10 minutes. Not speedy by any means 1 psi per minute, but it was also well past midnight and no gas stations were near by, or open. I thought I'd post a link to the cheapo compressor I had with me, I'll be upgrading to the better one and keeping this one for my Polaris UTV. I'd recommend carrying a compressor like this anywhere you go, especially since many gas stations make you pay for air now anyway. Totally defeats the purpose of having awd. Also sounds like a lame excuse. I wouldn't leave this issue alone, keep pushing. My 2008 was a tank in snow, ice, and foul weather. I had the stock pirellis on 20" wheels. My new Sport keeps going where my 2008 left off. We've had a snowy icy messy winter in the northeast the past two months.... My Edge hasn't missed a beat.

Painting sounds a bit high. Grill is just about right. At $80, that's fair for the 1.5 hours it'll take. Maybe save that money and do it yourself? I'd check some local shops and see what they quote you for painting the new grill. I bet the dealer would have been more negotiable on the price if you tried to throw that in at the time of signing. Let us know how you do, and of course post up some pics when your done.

I'm a chronic mpg checker myself. My dad did it and i always have too. I find it amazing that people don't know what their mpg is on their vehicles, doesn't everyone do this? Lol The filter is a drop in, open the cover and change it just as you would a paper filter. I haven't noticed any change in interior noise.

Anybody there? I'm interested in knowing if this works now, like I said, I tried it on my 2008 and it failed. Maybe new plastics are used that can be painted now? I'd like to finish the lower cladding on my wifes Explorer when it comes in so that it would match the Edge.

SWEET!!! There ya go! Since I was once a 10 year old boy, and I knew what was cool, I think that's all confirmation we need to be sure the Edge IS the coolest car! I'm psyched my 16 month old can pick out our truck in a parking lot! Waitll he can say its cool!

WOW, I'm doing better than you with an AWD 3.7L Sport. On a recent trip (A lot of highway) with winter blend fuel I managed 19.2 EDIT: After approximately 4200 miles, I'm averaging 20.3mpg. I only have a 16 mile 20 minute commute, not the best for raising fuel economy, but all things considered I don't think that's too bad.

Have someone check that the front wheels are indeed getting the power they're supposed to. Your rear end should not kick out like your driving a rear wheel drive pickup, something is wrong. If your service manager argues the point, bring him for a ride when you have snow on the ground or if you can get him to a snow covered parking lot.

I've had every cop I work with say to me at one time or another, "oh man that's your truck??? That thing is bad-ass!!!!" I'd say its plenty masculine. If that's not enough, when my wife drives it she get comments like, I didn't expect you to get out of that....LOL

We used xplan plus got coupon discount $750, returning customer cash $1000, police discount $500, plus incentive $1500, and $1000 for costco. 4750.00 off so yes we did well. But don't judge that off Msrp, no one pays straight Msrp. So I got $250 more than you. My wife did the rest by hemming and hawing about the cargo package and backlit door sills so they wiped those off the bill. The last payment on the 2008 Edge was just to speed up the deal. But hey, it's still worth $340.

I have the 22"s and don't have a problem. But, due to the aerodynamics the rear of the truck always gets wet with spray while driving, so whenever I'm around the tailgate i wipe the camera cover.

We took our Sport from dealer inventory so they worked with us. Would love to see your photos as well. I had a piece of trim from my 2008 prepped and painted in an attempt to create my own Sport version back then, the paint soon began to flake. It was prepped again and resprayed but we couldnt get paint to stick well. Maybe it was just the wrong product? Maybe the plastics have changed? Very interested in seeing everyones results with this.

We just ordered a new 2011 Explorer for my Wife, so we were looking into this today. No luck so far. Seems like the girl is the only choice for SYNC. My wife hates her!
