Decided to change the oil and searched for a replacement filter. I checked online and the parts store sold me a Motorcraft FL820. turns out that was the wrong filter, it was too thick, and wouldn't screw on without hitting the motor. My friend then had a NAPA filterr brought to his shop which fit. My question is, which is the correct Motorcraft part number? By the way, at 4K miles, the break in oil was black.

I spoke with a customer service rep from ford who said that the paint problem only affected fleet sales. Call ford customer service and inquire for yourself if you're worried.

I've noticed that the paint on the Edge and our Ex stink. It's not very smooth at all. I'm comparing to Lexus and Mercedes of which we've owned and I thought their paint looked great.

We purchased a 2011 Edge Sport, Then ordered an Explorer which we just took delivery on. We got a fabulous deal on the Edge, and a good deal on the Ex, but since both vehicles are moving so well, they wouldn't do anything else for us. With that said, it never hurts to ask and check multiple dealers. Hell, lie to them and say dealer a is offering this, dealer b is offering this, what would you offer for our two purchases....

They're Forged, Polished, AND Clear Coated. Actually I found this out, because one of my rims was NOT clear coated! I showed it to the dealer, showing him that I was able to polish it using Blue Magic Metal Polish and they replaced the wheel. All the rest are clear coated. How this escaped out from the manufacturer this way is anyones guess. Someone said it might have been grabbed for QC check before clear coat and them dumped into inventory later?

The Ex is NICE! My wife loves it! And since she works so hard with the kids all day, I'm happy to see her happy in the truck that she wanted. I guess since my last 4 purchases were Ford's we are now a Blue Oval Family.

This tip is my Wife's contribution to the board. If you prep stains from stuff like this with WD40 before sending it to the wash, most if not all should come out.

We all like SYNC, or at least think its a great idea... Saab will be using an Android based infotainment unit and has a nice presentation here. I found it interesting, take a look if you like.

My 2011 Sport has the easy entry feature on it. Of course you need to go into MFT and activate it. As far as changes for the 2012, so far looks like the mirror shape will change ever so slightly, probably to negate some wind noise.

You are correct on all the new improvements, although the unit body remains unchanged from the original. But I mean give credit where its due.... Ford did an excellent job with the original Edge and a Major refresh makes this vehicle look like a completely new model.

I use this feature at least once a day. If I'm running into the driveway to retrieve something from my car, I don't need to find my IAKey first. Also when Im at work, I can access my cars interior without carrying around my key. If my wife wants to access my vehicle, she doesnt need me or my key. I love this feature, and on my wifes new Explorer, it hides away in the rear of the front door pillar, unseen until you need it.
