2011 Ford Edge HID kit
Edgieguy replied to jsabia85's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
hids or halogens it uses the same flap system for hi and low beams. Flashing them is very bright everytime. The sound you hear is the flap activating. I've been using the 9006 ddmtuning kit for 7 months with no loose bulb issues. -
damoujd, if you needs hand I can help. It's not me in Wayne, although I'm out in the Totawa area quite a bit. I've had my edge in for various services several times and dealer has said nothing. I'd change back to stock and go back back to the dealer if I ever had a problem with lighting . but, I've never had a problem with any of their kits that I've used .the high beam on the edge uses a flap system so high beam in low beam is unaffected by the bUlb.

Damon, Congrats on the new ride. My commute is only about 20 minutes and it never felt shorter. I actually take longer routes sometimes.

2011 Edge Brake Performance Tests
Edgieguy replied to cal3thousand's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
roflmfao!!!! -
my wifes explorer works fine streaming Pandora through bt. She's got v2.7 my incredible has drop issues with bt when I'm streaming Pandora, I've got v2.4 in the Edge. I did a complete unpairing and repairing and it helped for weeks, but it seems its creeping back in now. Also send an email to HTC about features not working with Ford sync, believe it or not, they are listening. If they come up with a bt stack that supports voice to text messaging with sync, it only makes them look better.

2011 Edge Brake Performance Tests
Edgieguy replied to cal3thousand's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Let's not forget about temperature, tire pressure and friction coefficients on the road surfaces. I wonder too, like you said, are they using electronics or cones and tape measures? If I'm figuring this out correctly on my steering wheel right now 60 mph is 88 feet per second, so a fractional disparity of a second by the tester could render the distances easily changing that much. Richy, quick check my math.... -
I actually have the rigid cargo shade from my 2005 Escape and pulled it out some months ago to look at this when i saw the crappy vinyl they gave me as a cargo shade. The Edge is much wider than the Escape and therefor it did not fit well. Another issue I saw was that the automatic lift gate actuator arm gets in the way of a proper cover. I haven't given up hope yet on coming up with a better alternative.....

2011 SEL/LMTD - Painted front/back lips/side rocker panels?
Edgieguy replied to spocket's topic in Exterior & Body
Phenomenal job on this. I was just re-reading this thread. I might've gone for the Limited if I saw something like this before buying my Sport. I had a body shop try this on a piece from my 2008, and it didnt work well. Maye if my 2008 came out perfect like yours I never would have gotten a 2011 at all? Anyway, this is something I really want to consider doing to the Explorer we just got. If the wife wants it that is. -
I concur ^. I owned a 2008 Limited which I gave back for a 2011 Sport. Entirely two different vehicles. Power, braking, handling, quietness, vast improvement over the original.

High pitch tone before starting engine. Normal? 2011 MKX
Edgieguy replied to ervwalter's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
I can hear it on our Sport when I turn the motor off at night. Its a high pitch whistling. Its only noticeable to me night when its very quiet. -
Paint Protection/Sealants
Edgieguy replied to DJ Starr's topic in Appearance - Detailing, Wash & Wax
Hey Richy, Thanks for the links. I'm really curious to try that cquartz. is there anyway to mess that up ? -
I've got to say, after owning a 2008 limited I think the change to the braking system is magnificent. I had to change my 2008's. Lines to stainless steel, change the pads and rotors to get it where I thought it should've been from the factory. The Sports progressiveu pedal feel and feedback seem great to me. I may upgrade the lines again, and when the pads go ill look at upgrading to better materials as well, but overall, I'm very happy. As far as the HID's.... I put in a set of $45.00 DDMTuning HIDs and re-aimed my lights and they're probably as good if not more efficient than the OEMS.

36,000 B to B Warranty/Double Dealing Dealer
Edgieguy replied to cshort07's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
I agree It seems strange that those items should suddenly all go bad from being near perfect... but like you stated, you don't, nor will you ever know if they did their job the last time, or just lied about it. They just closed a 10 minute oil change place nearby after investigating and finding out they were only checking the oil, not actually changing it like they were charging for... so you're never too sure what's going on beyond your sight. -
Wow, and it's reconditioned. After markets are not only nicer, they're stronger and lighter for less money... But as someone stated, exclusivity comes with a price tag.
-
But.... Placing them on an edge that doesn't have the Sport suspension renders you a crappy ride as someone stated. they're awesome looking and I love em, but they do weigh a ton.
-
Love the color. I just saw one close by in that blue and it looked outstanding.
-
Awesome, congrats. They are wonderful trucks, I wouldn't trade mine for anything else on the market, I'm sure you'll be feeling the same very soon.
-
Im not really seeing the difference. is it very noticeable? Ill have to look at a picture of mine parked the same way and compare. I was never very good at those "whats different between these two pictures" games....
-
Very Nice! Watch those potholes!
-
Thank God that didn't come through the window! That sucks that you got damage, I'm glad its all you got! Here's to your white paint defending you and your family!

Ive been using a K&N filter since Christmas time and have notices that I picked up 1-2 MPG while using the winter blend fuels we get here in NJ. i keep a close eye on my fuel economy because my commute and driving style are very stable, so Im comfortable saying that at the very least it improved my fuel economy. I also like that I can clean and reuse it versus throwing paper filters in the land fill.

I was surprised to see such black oil... Had I looked earlier, I would have changed it earlier. Oh well. Clean full synthetic in there now and i see that my mileage is creeping up this tank already.
