Ultra HID Kit -- DDM Tuning
Cellbine replied to Cellbine's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
It would be a smart thing for me not to attempt to build my own. I would have no idea on how to do that lol. Even if it is simple, its best I stay away. But I have been searching ebay for a TRS harness, but nothing comes up labeled TRS. I am pretty much looking for a harness for the 9006 kit I bought, so I hope I am on the right track. I have searched the forum for links to what other people have bought, but that came up short with links that don't exist anymore or vague references to what they are using. This is one that I have found: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xenon-HID-Conversion-Relay-Wiring-Harness-H11-9005-9006-/260818338327?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb9fc0217&vxp=mtr Would this one work and would it be any better than what came with the DDM kit? If anyone who bought a replacement harness could post a link to what they are using it would really help out.- 35 replies

That is fantastic! Too bad we just left Germany. We could have definitely used that over there. I wonder if it just covers Germany or if it has navi for it's surrounding countries too. Now I need Ford to release navi for Asia... -

Thanks. We are anxiously waiting. We value our alone time together, but we are very excited for the new addition. Wife is in a lot of pain though. Docs already tried to induce her last week, twice. But no baby yet. She is having strong contractions again right now. We are waiting to see where it goes. The antici...... ....pation is killing us. First time using RP. Pretty much the only thing on base I could by. Someone told me it was a good choice. I didn't have time to do proper research on it though. -

Looks like quite the job! Something way out of my league lol Today I finally got the time to change my oil. Admittedly, something that has been neglected since we started the move to Korea. Got a lift and was a clean/quick finish. Feels good not to worry about it anymore. Additionally, a few weeks ago I bought and installed a usb hub and ran a cable up to the cluster. I run navigation from my cellphone here in Korea and the stock usb ports do not actually power/charge my phone. So the hub I bought plugs into the cigarette lighter and provides enough power to charge my devices. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L34ARD2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I just popped the trim and ran the cable through, behind, and up the center console. Be gentle about the cleanliness of my Edge. We have been rushing back and forth to the hospital. My wife is pregnant and was her due date was a few days ago. So we haven't been focused on cleaning the car. -

You should just need the heat gun and squeegee. Not sure if anyone here has used a primer to get their wrap on.
-
Man, sorry to hear this happened to y'all. I am glad you and your family weren't hurt. I hope everything works out with the insurance companies.
-
That was a few years ago, so I am unclear as to how much I ordered. I just took a measuring tape to it and bought a sheet a bit larger than the actual size of the whole grill insert area. That way if I messed up I could have a bit extra to use. You will need to remove the front bumper to access the insert tabs from behind it. You could probably get away with not taking the bumper all the way off and leaning it back, but I wouldn't personally do it that way. Be careful when removing the tabs, sometimes they can be a bit fragile and you want to avoid snapping one off. I did not have an easy time removing my inserts and I will probably just tap my inserts off when I PD then again.
-
No, I didn't pull the inserts. But I just laid it over like a newb. Be sure to have a hairdryer or a heat gun handy to meld it into the curves or you will get bugs that hit and break the material when you drive later on. That is why I took it off. If you search, I have created a thread a while back about what I ran into when I removed my 3M wrap. I found it after a quick search: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11656-3m-stickerwrap-removal/?p=88760 Beware. But if you install it correctly, you won't have to remove it right? Good luck!

Ultra HID Kit -- DDM Tuning
Cellbine replied to Cellbine's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Thanks. I have seen that around the forums. When I search eBay for a TRS HID wire harness, there are so many different options that come up. Is there any one in particular I should be looking for?- 35 replies

Ok, so here is the problem I have. Whenever I go to by some rims and I click to display them on my colored Edge, it never looks right. Am I off the mark here?
-
Nice catch! Thanks for the heads up. Now excuse me while I dig through the couch for loose change LOL

I picked up these bad boys and they finally arrived in the mail today. Below are the details of my order. DDM Tuning's 55W 5500K Ultra HID Kit: Ultra HID Kit, 55W, 9006, 5500K Bulb Color: 5500K Bulb Type: 9006 Wattage: 55W (+$10.00) Subtotal: $89.95 HID Kit Wiring Harness ($9.99) Total cost w/harness and shipping: $108.74 My order says Free shipping, but I was still charged $8 for shipping. I am emailing them to see what is up on that. http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Ultra-HID-Kit ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The HID Bulbs are based on the Osram CBI Series HID bulbs to produce up to 20% more light than a standard HID bulb and 50% more light that many HID bulbs on the market which allows you to see further than other HID kits. This is reached by changing the design of the capsule, using higher quality salts and electrodes to produce a more consistent output. Our Ultra HID bulbs warm up 20% faster than the standard HID bulbs. Available in 4500K and 5500K for maximum output. The bulbs use an optically clear quartz glass with UV protection. Our automated manufacturing process removes human error to obtain perfect alignment of the capsule for the best beam pattern available. 35W kits produce 3400 Lumens and 55W produce 5000 Lumens per bulb." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I had their regular 35W kit before. I was very happy with it but wished for a bit more light. So I bought these guys. We live in the Korean country. I have to drive through rice patty fields to get to my house. So I'm hoping this will help me not drive into the ditches. Here are some shots of the packaging and what the kit comes with: How the box looks after opening and removing cardboard paper packing. 3 boxes, 2 decals, and the wiring harness. The ballasts came with mounting brackets. I am excited about this because the original kits didn't and I don't have to rig my own up. I hope they fit. Front: Back: They also came with their 2 bolts and 2 zip ties for each ballast: The bulbs: I also ordered the wiring harness. Seems to be of decent build quality. They could step it up a notch though. Since there are already videos on how to install HID kits, I will snap some pictures while I'm in there and post them for you. Now I just have to find time to install them. More to come later.

This thread is a good idea. I know that I would at least like to swap out my front lip on my Limited to the Sport version at some point in time. I just have other goals I need to meet first.

Glad to know other people are using black boxes in the States. I didn't know if something like that has been introduced there yet. It has been used over here for quite a while now. I am still interested to know if anyone has removed the rubber cable tube and been able to fit the top part back into the hole without cutting it.
-
I am sure there are some good drivers here, just everytime I get behind the wheel I have only seen the bad ones. Yup, a large portion of the country takes public trans or walks. They actually have an amazing system setup for that.
-
Hey All, So we just purchased and had a black box installed in the Edge. I got one with a front and rear camera. Over here in Korea it is vital to have one because there are some many inexperienced drivers. While waiting for our Edge to arrive, we were in 2 accidents with our rental car (none my fault). The resolution of those accidents would have been much faster if the black box in the rental was working. So we got the following black box installed in ours: (IT is actually the V7 and not that T7 that the thread title suggests. I didn't want a bulky touch screen in my face.) http://www.navinc.co.kr/mall/m_page.php?ps_pname=en_v7 It will record for 5-8hrs with the 16GB card it comes with. The power is tapped into the fuse box by the driver's seat and is always on. It is programed to sense and turn off automatically if your car battery is low. It will turn on and start recording instantly if your car is bumped when it is parked too. You connect to it wirelessly through an app on your smart phone to view all recorded data collected by the device. Front Camera: It is installed directly behind the rear view mirror and can't be seen when driving. Rear Camera: I had the worker run the rear cable through the factory routing. He cursed a lot because he asked me if he could just tie strap it to the rubber cabling and I said no. The only problem is that I haven't been able to mash the top part back up into the hole. Can anyone give me some tips?

I just had a pair, but then I moved and they went to be stored in the States and I went to Korea. That being said, if you can't find any in 3 years. Let me know, I will have access to them again. -

I was actually surprised how small it was. Glad I got it. Turns out I never ordered the wrong LEDs for the manual spots in the rear dome. I need to order some new ones. I ordered these without physically checking. They will work in the map lights for sure. -

So I got one of my rear dome lights in. I only have one LED installed in it. Fit perfectly in the middle section: Ended up being quite a bit of output for this little guy. Outside shots: -
