The Focus coming over here was a fail because the sync system was different from the one sold in the States. Hearing that MFT is coming here is really hopeful.

News on potentially being able to use the navi in Europe! Link to original article: http://www.pcmag.com...,2409149,00.asp Article was released on August 30th BERLIN - Ford is bringing its Sync with MyFord Touch infotainment system to Europe next year with the debut of the new Ford Focus Electric, the car maker announced today at IFA. The European version of the Microsoft-powered Sync with MyFord Touch will include enhanced voice-activated functionality, mobile Wi-Fi, and an 8-inch color touch screen, Ford said. Ford released its standalone Sync product in the B-Max car this year, and it will now extend Sync with MyFord Touch to the Ford Focus Electric in 2013. PCMag's Jamie Lendino reviewed the U.S. version of Sync with MyFord Touch back in May and found it to be an "extremely capable system." The updated Sync with MyFord Touch that will debut on the Focus Electric next year includes beefed up voice options, including the addition of new language understanding. The European Focus Electric will understand nine European languages including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and Turkish. The idea is to help drivers keep their hands on the wheel while using the phone, the entertainment system, adjusting the temperature, and inputting directions into the GPS. Someone could say, "Call Chloe" without having to say "Phone," even if Sync is focused on audio, navigation, or another mode. On the navigation front, Ford said Sync with MyFord Touch will allow users to speak aloud a destination address without needing the city, postcode, and street. But as PCMag's Lendino noted in his review, there were a few kinks that need to worked out when it comes to navigation that will hopefully be addressed on the Focus Electric. "Voice-activation is a key element of our Sync systems," Jason Johnson, supervisor for infotainment and connectivity at Ford of Europe, said in a statement. "It simplifies the experience for the customer and simplifies the voice-activation experience to deliver real benefit." The Sync with MyFord Touch interface includes two USB ports, SD Card input, and Audio/Video RCA inputs. You can also hook the system up to Bluetooth, providing access to phone book contacts and incoming text messages, and allowing for pre-set text message responses to be sent to specific numbers while you are driving. A Bluetooth-tethered mobile phone, meanwhile, can serve as a hotspot for up to five devices. The touch screen can be customized with personal photos as background images or photos that accompany incoming calls or texts. Sync with MyFord Touch will also include Ford's Emergency Assistance, which directly connects the car to emergency personnel in the event of an accident.

I wouldn't be too deterred by MFT. Lots of members, like myself, have had a problem free experience with it. I wouldn't dismiss the potential for problems, but MFT has a lot to offer especially if you are in the States. We are currently stationed in Germany and we can't use our Navigation system but I am still very happy with it overall. I have had MFT reboot on me maybe 3 times in over a year. All in all, it's been great to have! Thanks for the Congrats =)

We mainly got our Edge for traveling Europe in and family expansion. Congrats on your baby-to-be! We are also expecting and I am very happy to have our Edge. With it my wife wont have to bend over when placing the baby in a carseat or put much strain on herself while getting in and out of the vehicle. We have a Limited and I am personally very happy about picking that over the Sport. I think it has a nicer ride quality. I like comfort over power. Infact, I didnt know about the MKX until after I bought our Edge. If I would have known about it, I might have purchased it. I can't speak on the rivals, but in the Edge we have hauled a lot of baby furniture and other things and I couldn't be happier with it. There is a lot of room in the back row for a child and anything else you might need to get back there. Gas milage is decent and the car has good power to get you out of a sticky situation on the road. I know my advice here is a little vague, but maybe other members will start piping in soon. Good luck with your decision and the baby!

I have the same door ajar problem with mine. I have an appointment to get it looked at later this month. I have to close my door repeatedly, sometimes up to 25 times, to get it to lock and turn off all the lights.

What Color (Colour) is your Ford Edge or MKX?
Cellbine replied to Edge Guide's topic in Exterior & Body
Metallic Earth here. We choose it because we didn't want black but still wanted a conservative color. We prefer fall colors too. -
Kc300c has a instructions on how to integrate a phone mount into the dash which routes a cable put to it. You could easily use those instructions to get your USB cable up there. Here is his thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?/topic/8622-installation-video-in-dash-cell-phone-mounting-bracket-usb-wired/page__p__69006__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=69006

Anyone else have keyless issues?
Cellbine replied to Dingo's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Yup, I have done that twice now. -
Looks good. I am thinking about redoing my grill with plastidip, but I can't get it shipped to Germany. I am flying to the states at the end of this month, so I'm going to pick up a few cans to do my grill and wheels. But I think I might coat my grill with the shiny plastidip. But I think I'm going to pull the grill off the car and do it that way. I have to take the 3M off first.

Iphone 4s suddenly won't pair
Cellbine replied to DF2161's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I was having this problem with my android phone. It finally started working again flawlesly and there is only one thing I can think of that I changed. Before I had my phone named something in the bluetooth settings. I called my phone "The Voice of KLER" (goofy, but whtevs. KLER is my car's name because thats the first 4 on the license plate). Anyways, I deleted the name so that it was set back to the default and since then I have had no more issues. -
Anyone else have keyless issues?
Cellbine replied to Dingo's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
I started a topic about my driver's side door not locking after its closed. I have to toggle the lock inside the door and reclose the door several times before the sensor clues in that its actually closed. When this happens, I can't use the keypad or the door handle sensors and the parking lights stay on like the door opens. I have tried lubricant on the door mechanism, but that hasn't helped. This is what I'm going through. I need to take it in to the dealer. I just dont like Ford dealers outside of the states...terrible service. -
Door Handle Sensors Not Responding
Cellbine replied to Cellbine's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Ok, It's been over a week and I have lubed up the door locking mechanism several times and I am still getting the same problem. It helps if I toggle the manual lock/unlock button on the car door. If I toggle it back and forth a few times it will eventually respond. I have relatives flying in to visit for the weekend, so I will be taking it to the dealer after they leave. I should not be having this issue on a car that is 1 year old. Disappointing. Still love her though.- 10 replies

Welcome Jason and congrats on your new Edge! Question. What does your username mean? It has a few korean meanings, but I'm not sure if it's one of those.
