Maybe other members can recommend what they use or like. You can search for clay bars for detailing online. Here is an example: http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-07240-California-Gold-System/dp/B0002U2V1Y

There are a few options. Last one should be last resort though. If anyone else can think of other options, feel free to post them. Option 1) Try to remove it with a clay bar. This is your best shot at getting it off. Option 2) Try a high speed buffer. Option 3) A lot of people are going to get loud about this one, but it should only be used as a last resort. I don't recommend this, but you could try cleaning it with gas. As a warning, using gas on your paint could do more damage than good. You will need to be very quick to clean the applied area. Again, this is a last resort.

Driver Side Door Alert
Cellbine replied to edge535's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Agreed. I have started a thread about this and others as well on this forum. Your lock mechanism needs to be replaced. Take it to the dealer and replacement is covered under warranty. -
I was thinking about this today and I wanted to give you guys this information I found when working on my grill recently. As most of you know, I recently Plasti-dip'd my grill. Before that, I had my grill wrapped in 3M wrap. It is a strong and sturdy product but I made some noob mistakes when installing it. I didn't depress the wrap into the grooves in the middle of each grill inserts. At the time, I didn't know to heat the wrap up a little bit (or whatever other methods are out there) to get it to lay in without breaking or giving me a hard time. So the wrap was effectively suspended over the grooves. This worked at first, until I started driving during bug season. When bugs would hit my grill, they would break the wrap letting the silver grill underneath show through. This happened enough that a lot of grill was showing through, it looked bad up close. So I decided to Plasti-dip my grill, but before doing that I had to remove the 3M wrap. So here is what I really wanted to share with you all. The wrap ended up being pretty difficult to remove. When I eventually peeled it off, it left a lot of sticky residue on the inserts that we had to scrub and clean off with a lot of effort. When cleaning the inserts, the residue didn't remove any chrome color, but I don't know if the same could be said if you applied this to the body of your car. Basically, I just want you to be aware that if you do use this product and end up taking it off in the future, this is what you could be in-store for. FYI.

Your ipod turns off after time. You can test this by keeping your ipod in sight when you turn your car off. Leave it for some time and come back to check on it. The ipod should power back on when you open your door or unlock it. One of the two.

Ok, I finally was able to look at the website from my computer and I pulled this from the Ebay link: -LED Qty: Ultra Bright LED -POWER:10w -Intensity: High Intensity 70-90LM Light Source -Color: White 6000-6700k -Package Weigh: 1.2KG 70-90L light source could me two things. 1) Total output is 90L for each side. 2) Total output is 90L for each LED. Either way its not very specific. My opinion is that the lights probably will not put out as much light as it looks like in the pictures. Cameras can do wonders these days. The final product looks like it could have used some more work. The pictures they have of the product installed in an Edge don't look that great. They had to take the pictures with the lights facing the dark and they weren't that bright. These lights will probably only look decent at night time. KC's lights look great all the time. I am totally stoked about the new lights KC is coming out with. Hope to be first in line ordering them!

New & Improved LED Puddle Lights + Free Set of License Plate LEDs
Cellbine replied to kc300c's topic in Classifieds
They are Rear Door Puddle lights. KC posted instructions on this install a long time ago, but since then his posts have mysteriously been deleted. He does have a youtube channel and I found his instructional video on the subject. Many of us have made this modification and it is my top 2 favorite mods on my Edge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bBMIkVyGVI&feature=g-user If you have more questions, I suggest you start another thread so we don't end up hijacking this one.- 5 replies

NEW EGR Matte Black Finish and Edge Products

Is it possible to order/view these online? I live in Germany and I dont know if there is a dealer over here. I think I might like the mini shield, but dont know any pricing details. -
Is there anyone else at Ramstein on this forum? I see lots of Edges and I know I have talked to a few people about this site, but I dont know if anyone made it here or not. Let me know and maybe we can meet up. I have some extra LEDs I could give ya and we can see what we have done to our cars so far. I wouldn't mind lending a hand on some mods if help was needed either. Let me know!

Im pretty sur KC has already prototyped these out but ultimately decided not to go with them. They are most likely not as bright as DTBL's version. You will be sacrificing brightness for the functionality of the "switchback" effect. Im on my phone right now, but I think it stated 70-90L (correct me if Im wrong). DTBLs put out over 400L each. You will be much more satisfied if you go with DTBLs than with these and you get service and quickly. These are also coming from China, so consider the time involved in shipping these as well.

Cool. Plus, if you spray your coats at a good distance and keep your coats even, it should come out pretty smooth. Get your technique down and you wont have a problem.
-
I'm not sure, but if you do try it, use a fine grit sand paper. I actually have no idea how gloss plasti-dip finishes. Any thoughts Cmillz? Would you even bother with sanding?
-
I expected the gloss look to be..idk, glossier. How glossy would you say it actually is? It looks somewhat similar to the matte finish.

Perf, I see, I don't think taking your grill off is necessary for dipping your inserts. If you tape it well you will do fine. Just remember that if you don't take your tape off before its dry, you might have a problem taking the tape of clean. Since the plasti-dip is sprayed on both the grill and the tape, when you take the tape off the dip might want to go with it. You will need a straight edge or blade of some sort on hand for a clean separation, if needed. Or, you can put your coats on quickly and take the tape up while its still drying, but if you are doing 5 coats, that is probably not possible. I took my inserts off, so I was able to spray them without taping a lot. I taped the tabs off that have to fit through slots on the grill when you re-install them. Take the inserts off is more work in the end, but I learned more about the car. Have you watched my video on how to dip your wheels? I just cleaned my grill the same way I cleaned my wheels in that video and it worked great.

Haven't thought about it. I like how it looks as is. Did you gloss yours? If so, post some pics so we can see how it looks.

Here is a pic of my Dip'd grill. I am very happy with the results.

They are dark pics, but I'm Dipping my grill right now. Going to let it set for the night and re-install the grill in the morning.

Just take it to the dealer and tell them the locking mechanism is malfunctioning. Try and take it there when it's not working. Better to start bugging them about it now. At least it will start a paper trail.

True, there isn't much to do to this car, but that's where we need to get creative. I have pretty much done all I can to mine, with my abilities. I need to learn/find someone who knows how to work fiberglass so I can make that 7" tablet dock that magnetizes to the face plate of MFT.
