Its true black. I haven't used the gloss PD mainly because I live in Germany atm so I don't have access to all the colors. I rely on friends from the States to send me PD. I'm not sure I would use the gloss version though. PD is so cheap that it doesn't really matter what you buy. If you don't like the way it looks, peel it off and get a different color.

DynamikiLLu51ons
Cellbine replied to Cellbine's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Yes I do. I have this controller that allows me to change the color, brightness, and mode. There is a "slideshow" mode that allows the lights to scroll through all the colors automatically. Thanks! Don't be embarrassed, I didn't know what they were either. Demon eyes is when LEDs are placed behind the projector. When turned on, it lights up the projector from behind giving the projectors the look of an eye. Traditionally, demon eyes are red. In my case, I got RGB LEDs so I can change the color to anything I wanted to.- 26 replies

DynamikiLLu51ons
Cellbine posted a topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Just received my custom headlights from DynamikiLLu51ons and I am extremely happy with the way the turned out. I ordered them with custom paint to match my Edge, Halos, LED strip above the Halos, and RGB Demon eyes. They arrived safe and sound in an ocean of packing peanuts. Whiteis33 worked hand in hand with me every step of the way and was very quick to respond to my questions. He met all of my demands, trust me, I had a lot of them, and he was great to work with. I will be posting more pictures soon, but here are a few. I am waiting until tomorrow to take some pics in good light. These DRLS are as bright or brighter than Audi/BMW LEDs. They are truly amazing. My biggest concern with them is that they would have that cheap DIY look and the LEDs would be week. Trust me when I say, they are NOT WEAK. This is exactly what my Edge was missing and I am so happy I bought them! Headlights are not on in this first picture.- 26 replies

**Disclaimer: It is ok if you don't like this mod, not everyone will. Just don't ruin the fun for those that do like it.** Here is a fast, fun way to customize your Edge. It is a cheap "mod" that will cost you less than $10 and a whole new look to your car. You are only limited to your imagination and skill with painter's tape. Here is what I did: Step 1: Tape off the what you want Dipped. Make sure you have straight lines and that you are covering what you don't want dipped with something. I used newspaper. Step 2: Spray on your base coat at about 50% coverage. Step 3: Spray remaining coats quickly and ensure you have 100% coverage. I waited about 1 minute between coats and it was probably too long. You just want to avoid PD build up and runs. Make sure you are using good technique when spraying and keep a good distance of about 8-12" from the surface you are spraying. Step 4: Peel the tape off before the PD dries. This will allow you to have clean lines after everything dries. If you wait too long to pull the tape up, the tape will also pull the PD and you will have torn edges. Torn edges are not good for your EDGE. It is recommended to let you PD dry for at least 4 hours to let it cure before you drive with it. The PD is still wet here but evened out as it dried. Step 5: Enjoy your work! Now imagine what you could do with multiple colors. You could put a base stripe of black, like mine, then put a thin stripe of white on top of that as an accent if you have a white Edge. Don't let just one can stop you. I only did my hood, but you can bring your stripe all the way across your hood and down the back of your Edge too. That would look really good. Nice thing about this mod is that you can peel it right off if you are tired of it or don't like how it looks. So far I have gone through two car washes and the stripe has held up perfectly. Edges are nice and flat and looks good overall. Have fun!

Gear selection light?
Cellbine replied to ravishingrocket's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I don't remember if my drive letters light up in the center console area, I'll check later. Are you sure that's not for your cup holder ambient lighting? -
For those that did not receive the email update, the shipment is scheduled to arrive on Friday if there aren't any delays or on Monday if they get held up in customs.

Hey Rusty, so here is the update we have right now. The EDGE-2s are in final production and Dan is Skyping with the manufacturer to settle the ship date. As Dan stated before, he is air lifting the order and is shooting to get products shipped to customers by this weekend. There should be another update tonight by myself or Dan on what came of the call. Also, Dan has received a sample of the final product and it looks great! Expect some more pictures in the near future. Hope this satisfies your question.

Cool. Let's hope they fix it this time! -
LED Switchback's Hesitating
Cellbine replied to RustyEdge's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
This is quite interesting. I have type 1s but I have a section of LEDs that are flickering off and on. It's not the same issue as yours, but I noticed it when washing the car. I think type 1 resistors are built-in because the LEDs only work if you plug them in the correct way. Not sure if just those LEDs are failing or if the built-in resistor is failing. I can't confirm the wiring for the resistor though, sorry. I'm curious to whether or not you will have to pay the difference in the bulbs. The main reason I haven't switched to the new switchbacks is because they don't operate like type 1s and they are fairly pricey...for me. I want to switch to them because of the increase light output. -
Were you towing something? It almost seems that your lower speed hurt your MPG.
-
You will need to set your trip settings to Advanced to be able to see it like mine shows. I'll post a shot of where the option is if you can't find it before I post again. ----------------------------------------------------- I'm pretty surprised at the MPG I'm seeing here though. I thought that we would be getting higher MPGs collectively. When we drove to southern Germany, our average speed was around 72mph. I was driving at around 65 but our fuel economy actually increased when when started going faster.

My jaw dropped when I saw this pic. I thought that was the best you were getting, glad you got better!

Hd joe is right, PD holds up very well. I have PD'ed everthing that is black on my Edge, wheels and grill. I have made a video tutorial on how to PD your wheels on the forum. Do a search for it and check it out. Even when I go through a car wash, the PD is not disturbed. It's also amazing protection durring winter against all the road salt and debris that might come your way.

I believe that Dr. Joe did that mod himself. I have ordered custom headlights from Whiteis33. You can check them out on FB here if you are interested in custom headlights.

Finally was able to test this today. It took a few times pushing the BT media button for it to connect, but it did. For those of you wondering, that is a 12hr mp3 of vacuum noise to keep the newborn happy
-
Good tip Omar! I didn't know that. Would have been good to know when we kept the car running at rest stops.
-
I haven't tried that yet. I have a dedicated MP3 player in the car, so I only use my phone for calls when driving. Ill try to check it out this weekend after my folks leave.

LOL Guru, no diesel. I bought my Edge from the states and had it shipped over here before I moved here 2 years ago. Nothing special about my Edge except that it's mine

Cool guys! Show us what you got!

I feel ya. The autobahn's over here have plenty of hills and we had to concur many of them on this trip. That is why this challenge is one of patience. You have to be committed to going up those hills with the cruise control off and go light on the gas even if it means you are going up 10~mph slower. Don't try to beat me, try to beat yourself! Awesome! Hope you are able to get some good numbers.

I believe you but those are the rules :happy feet: Thanks! Guaranteed not to be a focus LOL
