Right, street lights are primarily used only inside city limits. As soon as you leave a small village or city, no more lights. I really don't like construction here. The roads get really cramped for space.

So I'm pretty upset about the quality of the stubby I bought. The black paint on the top and bottom has rubbed off from going through the car wash a few times. Now I have a half-bronze colored antenna...

Constructions is always happening. A lot of the autobahn has recommended speed limits. When there is no recommendation, there is no limit. 7hrs at 110mph?? HOly cow! Ill drive that long at 87~mph or so, but 110. Dang!

Update my ford touch system ??? 2.4 to ...???

Try downloading the verification program on the site to your USB. It will detect what version you have installed on your Edge and when you log back into the site with the USB, it should update your info. -

Good decision Pasal! HID upgrade is a must for me now. I love my HIDs. -
I went with factory 18's on our Limited. We have had one really hard curb hit. So hard that we immediately stopped driving to check out if everything was ok, and it was. Very happy with the decision to go with smaller wheels. They are a nice ride, helps us with gas millage, and that tall tire has helped a lot. I do however want to lower the Edge to get rid of that gap a little bit. Good luck with your decision!

How To: Remove Front Bumper; 2011-2013 models
Cellbine replied to Cellbine's topic in Exterior & Body
Yes Russ, taping your grill off is perfectly fine. If you tape everything off properly, it would probably take the same amount of time as taking the grill and inserts off. The more prep work you put in to taping, the better the out come. Just be aware of the tape pulling the dip off after it has dried. Try to take it off right after your last coat. This is where taking your inserts off would help. You dont have to worry about the dip peeling off and leaving an uneven or torn line. Also, if you take your inserts out, you will have a better product at the end because you can dip the inserts more completely and they look better when placed back in. That's how mine was done and it looks great. Good luck with your decision. Both ways have pluses and minuses.- 32 replies

Awesome! Wish I had an impact drill LOL. I need to rotate one of my HID bulbs, it is angled up a bit an I need to change that before winter. So Ill unscrew the top and sides of the bumper, leave the bottom in place, and try to lean it back (supported) to slide the headlight out. You're right, so much easier than going in from the rear. Removing the chrome inserts does suck and you have to be careful too. You don't want to bend or break those cheap clips off. I don't think I would remove them again for dipping. I'm happy that process is over with.- 32 replies

That is much better. I would definitely go with the 4 can kit. I only bought 1 can and it didn't last that long. Hopefully the cans you get are much different from the one I had. The amount of cans depends on how many coats you want. I think 2 cans, from the States, would do about 3-4 coats. Make sure you have an extra can just in case.
-
I found it not as black as the American version and laid on a much thinner coat. Was super expensive too. Im glad I had other dip to put over it. Maybe I just needed to put more coats on, but for 20 euro a can that wasn't happening.

Yes, you will have to remove your grill. The chrome strips are held in with built in clips only accessible from behind the grill.- 32 replies

My Edge has stock 18" Chrome clad wheels too. It has received 2 curb checks, one pretty hard one, and the tires protected everything. Luckily, not a scratch on the rims. That will probably change if you get low profile tires. I think Matte black looks good. Now I plasti-dipped my chrome to matte black so the texture is a little different but the style is the same. I think they look great. I can't help you out on the rim size though. Never bought aftermarket wheels.

Loving my Edge. I have actually gotten my millage over 30mpg twice now. I love the thought of a paid off Edge sitting in the driveway. I have never really thought of selling it. I'm sure it will be in my driveway for a long time. I have never reset Trip 1 over the lifetime of the vehicle and it tells me I have gotten an average of 20.5mpg. That's mostly back city roads and stop and go traffic. I am very happy with that, considering the type of vehicle. Not bad! How fast were you going?
-
Those are excellent points. I will definitely think about that when I purchase my next vehicle. My concern is that if something happens while I'm downrange, my wife will be able to walk in and have whatever work be done, done. When I retire, after a few years, I will be more available to DIY.

Ill check out Anderson and Koch, but I think I am good with the 7y warranty. By the time it expires, the Edge wont be our main car anymore. I ordered my Edge from the states and had it shipped over here new. I won't be here in Europe for much longer though. Next we are moving to Asia and the Edge will be in storage.

Next month I will hit 2 years with my Edge. Looking at my mileage, I have crossed the 25k mile mark. It has got me thinking about my warranty. I didn't remember what option I took back when I ordered my Edge. I assume it was the 3 year/30k mile warranty. I wanted to know if it was available to extend my warranty so I don't have to worry about fixing anything after the warranty ends. So I went to my dealer and asked if I could extend it. They said that I should have only had the opportunity to do that between 1-2 weeks after purchase. After that would have been too late. So naturally my mind starts racing. I asked him if he could check to see if I could extend it now or not. He took me back to his office and looked up my account and saw that I already had opt'd for the 7y/75k mile extended warranty. I was so stoked I dropped that into my purchase. I immediately said, out loud, "I am so cool!". I had totally forgot I purchased that but my past-self made sure to take care of me My question to you guys/gals is, What warranty option did you guys get? Maybe drop the price you paid, if you want, for it. Turns out I paid $1,205 for 4y/~40k more miles of Peace-of-Mind.

Nothing better than driving a brand new Edge home. Congrats!

I think there have been a few threads on this before, or threads that can help you with your problem. Here is a link to one of them: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/6237-key-case/?hl=cover&do=findComment&comment=97443 Looks like folks are putting their keys in cases to deal with the problem. If you are looking for more info, do a few searches with key words like: key case pocket FOB Good luck.
