Tinted front windows

Installer should have a gauge that will tell him what the Factory is by placing it up to your windows.. I believe Factory is 35%. -
Shutting down rear vents...
Eatinitup replied to rapi99's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Unfortunately, there isn't a switch on the vent itself to turn them off. You would literally have to come up with something to close them. Either taping over them or actually mocking some sort of a concoction to actually stop the air flow. I don't understand why they don't have the butterfly valve like th front vents, but then again.. I am not the design engineer. I would to be able to turn them off in the daytime especially when its hot in the vehicle. More airflow to the front vent's would be better, especially when nobody is sitting in the rear! -
I have actually been playing around with my 07 Edge as well and have stated in previous posts that my left driver vent blows air like crazy but the right driver vent is very weak. The passanger right and left vents will almost blow you out of the seat. I normally am the only person driving my Edge everyday since its a daily driver to and from work. I live in Orlando, so for those who are with me on the heat, you know it GETS VERY HOT in your vehicle when it sits in a parking lot for 8hrs a day. What I did last week to start playing with air vents was, "I Turnned the left Driver vent OFF" and the "Passanger Right Vent OFF" thus only the two middle vents were blowing.. HOOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIT!!! I can now cool my vehicle down in like 5 mins.. The vents near the windows, always blow good air but none of those ever hit me.. I feel like they are vents to cool down a WINDOW that is 5,000 degrees.. Now that they are closed, the two middle vents literally BLOW ME out of my seat @ 275lbs.. TRUE STORY!! I have since even opened the two window vents to 1/2 way open and the two middle vents still blow harder than they used too.. Now I have equal air flow in the vehicle and am very pleased with it.

Ponder, you would be referring to a Turbo Timer. They actually work really well. The younger Generations use them on their fast cars that they speed around the city in. Below is a description and anyone correct me if mine is wrong. You can get them either installed by themselves or most alarm systems have them pre installed now adays. I have always had them on my regualar vehicles due to installing Viper Alarms. A turbo timer is used to let you car idle for a moment to let the oil that flowing through your tubo cool down. Without the oil flowing and cooling, you would have bubbling hot oil just stop not only in your lines but in your turbo. This is bad for two reasons. 1. the oil that stops in your lines will bubble in one spot and produce residue that will eventually clog yuor lines and restrict oil to the turbo. 2. The turbo itself is cooled by the oil, and if it is just left to bubble in the turbo, it can cause residue and does not let heat escape the turbo which can cause heat damage to the internal shaft and bearings on the turbo.

Sweet reply, thanks bud!

Yeah, it has a mobile version but if you look on the iPhone it will say at the very bottom.. "Get the free IP. Board App for iPhone Now!".. When you click on that, it takes you to the iTunes store but gives an error and never shows you an app to download.

Sweet info KC!! I too have an iPad. Its company supplied but its more or less a personal iPad. I will try it.. Thanks buddy!

If you go to www.fordedgeforum.com on a smartphone such as my iPhone4S... It will say at the bottom, that you can download an app for this forum.. When I click on that link it takes me to the iTunes store and gives me an error.. Basically stating that it didn't find such software. Does anyone know of an app that can be used when looking on a smartphone such as Android, BlackBerry or iPhone.. Well exclude Blackberry, they are always late to everything.... :hysterical2: :hysterical2: :hysterical2:

The ones you are speaking of are PLASTIC... The MGP brake caliper covers are a high grade metal that won't fail over time. The plastic brembo brake caliper covers you are speaking of, have had issues with Melting when on long road trips especially in areas were brakes are used constantly, like in the Mountains.. Just a suggestion. They are cheap, but they are PLASTIC. Just a heads up. Also in the description on eBay it shows pics of them applying these with Silicone?? seriously? Thats a mess and a hassle to take off if ever needed to change the Calipers.. The MGP calipers are clipped on or bolted on from what I remember when researching them.. http://www.ebay.com/...14693e8&vxp=mtr

Also, check the classifieds on this FORUM.. The members on here that are on daily and weekly are usually selling something after they did an upgrade. You can normally pick up some RIMS of all sizes whether it be stock 17-22 or aftermarket 18-22's.. You can find TONS of other stuff as well.. Check it out, may be beneficial to you! Good luck to you and modding out your new Edge. -
Sorry to hear that brother... I didn't really think the eCoBoost was going to be that impressive when reading about it for the Edge model to be honest. However, I am an avid fisherman and I boat quite often and I can tell you one thing.. Those eCoBoost motors in the F-150 are down out right nasty as hell.. I know guys who own them and not only are they getting 25MPG, they are getting that while towing a 23' Center Console Grady Whites with T-Tops and cruising at about 60MPH... Those F-150's are putting out some SERIOUS power with the Turbo motor... I think in this situation, the Turbo eCoBoost motors are more for power in towing and certain situations like that than they are for CUV's..
-
Possibly but at the end of the day, its still an 07 that is geared for 18' wheels without the towing package and is running 22's that are about 70lbs each and is getting considerably better gas mileage... And I drive like a dick at that, I am not scared to push my peddle.

Three years after a blitz of recalls and quality crises, Toyota has regained its image among Americans as the automaker with the highest quality vehicles, topping all others in the first Yahoo! Autos Survey. The four brands right behind it include a couple of names you might expect -- and a couple of surprises. Of the 1,000 people asked which automotive brand built the highest-quality vehicles, Toyota came on top with 13%, well ahead of any other brand. That figure's in line with its performance on the industry's traditional independent quality trackers — the annual Consumer Reports and J.D. Power surveys. Both found a downturn in the wake of the sudden acceleration recalls in 2010 and federal probe that eventually exonerated Toyota, but the automaker regained ground after vowing to focus on better quality vehicles. Toyota took five of the top 10 picks from Consumer Reports this year. Following behind Toyota among respondents was Ford, whose quality scores in other ratings had been the best among Detroit automakers until a recent spate of complaints involving its MyFordTouch entertainment systems. Outside of its electronics, Ford has managed to strengthen its image for high-quality vehicles -- but it has also struggled to train dealers and customers in how to use touchscreen controls and adapt to software updates. The last sentence, seriously made me spit up my DRINK while at work!! EPIC.....

There was somebody else on this forum who painted the black trim at the bottom of his vehicle and I am pretty sure he had priced it out for others and stated that because of the plastic material that It was a long process in getting them prepped for painting and because of that it was cost a normal person upwards of 2,000 dollars at a reputable body shop. I find that crazy so painting them is not a necessity but then again, my edge is a dark charcoal color so they somewhat blend in. As for the rims, if I was going to paint them, I would use plasti dip and if I didn't like it then i would peel it off and start over with some different angles or ideas. Just my opinion, I am not a fan of stock rims, even the sport 22's so I would never paint them, I would just buy something new that is unique. As for the grill, a lot of members have plasti dip sprayed that as well and it has come out looking really nice. At 8$ a can, you can't beat the price. If it doesn't work, just peel it off like a bandaid and start over. P.S.-- You'd be better off looking into the 3d Carbon Body kit that is roughly 800$ primed and that would probably cost you a lot less to have painted since its already primed and ready to go. Plus it looks better. Only thing.. I don't know if they offer it for the 2011 and up models yet. -
My 07 Edge SEL with after market 22's gets better than that. I average 24-25 @ 70MPH on Florida Highways and Interstates when going out of town. Thats with a Cold Air Intake and a recalibration of my speedo. I have an SCT tuner but haven't used it in a while as I have been doing numbers to see if I get better MPG while not tuned opposed to being tuned. Question: How are you using your air conditioning? Max A/C? Recirculate on or off? Windows down?
-
Another reason to learn how to do these things and "DIY" for a third of the price... Hell for 425$x2 you could of done a BIG BOY BRAKE KIT, with Cross Drilled and Slotted rotors and some beefy ass pads!

Does the EX2 only do the FRONT of the Vehicle or does it do the Rear?

This post somewhat died! Love to see the final product, finished!

I am always for "Retracting Statements" and may be wrong on this one.. But I have never had the results that you have had, and if you can refer me to the ONE you always use, I will definitely check it out and potentially buy it. Also, does yours only work on Lasers, or does it work on "Radar Guns" as well?

Nice POST! Good to see a Floridian on this forum for a change, MMCCLURE! Funny, my Wife graduated from UNF in Jax.. I grew up in Orlando and met her there. We now reside in Orlando after she graduated, but we still dock our boat there. Used to be docked downtown at River City Brewing Co.. but we are now at Beach Marina, a bit closer to the beach. It's a big city, but maybe one day we'll grab a beer! stay safe!
