  1. That thread should be a sticky. Whoever made it is a genius.
  2. I like it, but I would have left the Ford and Edge emblems stock so they look more natural. It looks too "aftermarket" if that makes sense. Kind of like bolting on those fake hood vents from Autozone. The rest looks good.
  3. I installed the Draw-Tite 75709 hitch and wiring harness this weekend. The hitch took about an hour, and the wiring harness took 2 or 3 hours. I had a hard time fishing the wire through the engine compartment, and I tried to run the wire like Ford would, hidden behind plastic and zip-tied to other wires. The hitch installation was very easy, but you might want a friend to help you hold it while you bolt it on. Here are two pics that I submitted to the etrailer website.
  4. Thanks for the replies. Draw-Tite doesn't show any of the cross bar. (Post #2 and #8) Curt hitch looks nice with a rounded cross bar. (Post #5 and #14) Valley may interfere with the exhaust and rattles. (Post #13) Hidden Hitch doesn't show any of the cross bar. (Post #12) I think this will help anyone else who is looking for a hitch.
  5. Thanks to RCHeel and rpeary for posting pics. There are so many posts talking about one hitch or another, but it is nice to be able to compare the looks of the different brands on one page. The DrawTite seems to be more low profile, but the Curt hitch looks nice also. Decisions, decisions... I'm also concerned about putting a hitch on and it hitting the curb whenever I back into a parking spot. The Edge is still somewhat new for me, and the ground clearance is much lower than what I use to have. Thanks again.
  6. Can you guys post pictures of your trailer hitches and say what trailer hitch brand, part number, and vehicle year so we all know what they look like? There are so many topics talking about the Curt hitch or others that don't have pictures of them installed. I think this would be useful for anyone who is shopping for a hitch. Here is the etrailer site that has the different brands (without pictures of it installed) http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-2011_Ford_Edge.htm Thanks!
  7. That's an interesting idea. Paint matching would probably look cool as well. I may try to photoshop a pic, but I'm not good at it.
  8. I installed mine a few weeks ago, and it is already starting to come loose on the left side. I have about 9" of it that isn't connected anymore. During installation, I added a strip of double-sided tape all the way across the front lip just to make sure it was snug. I can see that rain water was been following the weather stripping around the back hatch to the back bumper, and water is getting behind the bumper protector making it come loose. Has anyone else had it come loose or used something special to connect it to the car? It has only rained on my vehicle 2 or 3 times and I've washed it twice.
  9. I am interested in seeing how a black grill would look on a non-Sport model. Does anyone have any pics?
  10. I wouldn't put cammo on a Ford Edge. It doesn't really look like an offroad / hunting vehicle, and I think it would take away from the vehicle's appearance. The only vehicles I have ever seen cammo accents on are pick up trucks and lifted SUV's.
  11. Does anyone have pictures of them installed?
  12. If you get pulled over with your radar detector, I recommend you unplug it before the officer walks up. I don't know how many times I have talked to a speeder and the radar detector is chirping away in the background. That's a guaranteed ticket from me because you're showing intent to speed. My "moving radar" that is mounted to my dashboard will set off radar detectors while I'm driving around, but I also have a handheld radar that shuts itself off until the target is acquired. Radar detectors can't help you with the handheld. I regularly see cars speeding with an immediate drop in speed to the speed limit... too late. If you have a radar blocking device, that is a more serious charge, and it can be confisgated.
  13. This is 20% in the back and 35% in the front on a sunny day. 35% is the legal limit where I live. I may go a little bit darker someday.

    EDGE 2

    Looks good!
  15. My 2011 Edge SEL does not have MFT. I looked for a model without it due to all the negative reviews and to save money. This is what my interior looks like...
  16. I think a picture would have been better than a video that has alot of build up and wastes my time. A picture would also look better than a grainy video. I think the 26" rims make it look like a clown car, and it takes away from the vehicle's performance. I think you should make a better title for your thread next time so we know what we're clicking on. If I knew I was looking at big rims, I probably wouldn't have clicked on this thread.
  17. I put an electronic tint meter on my rear windows and it showed 21%. I had 35% installed on the front to give it a natural look (most cars have lighter front windows). If I did it again, I would probably go ahead and get 20% on the front. I'm thinking anything darker than 18-20% on the front windows will be noticeably darker than the back. Stick with 20% if you want a match.
  18. Thanks for posting this. I've been interested in seeing the new interceptor, so I will watch this later (too long for right now). I use to drive a Crown Vic before my current Dodge Charger, and there is a huge difference between the two. The Charger is alot faster and more roomy than the Crown Vic. The Crown Vic seemed to be more reliable, and I never had to take it to the shop. It also had an adjustable seat backing so I could make the seat firm or soft, which was nice, but I would take the Charger over the Crown Vic anyday. Alot of departments are moving towards the Charger. Tahoes are also becoming more and more popular. It will be interesting to see if Ford can keep the law enforcement market. We use a Dodge Magnum for the K9, and it looks awesome blacked out with black rims. I don't like normal Magnums though.
  19. The Edge looks alot better than the CRV, in my opinion. I have had a few people compliment my 2011 SEL model as being similar quality to a Lexus SUV. I'm getting 24 mpg average with every tank of gas... I don't ever take it on the highway. For me, it came down to the Edge, Toyota Highlander, or Kia Sorento. I traded in a 5.4L F150 for the Edge because I no longer needed a truck bed. Go for the Edge. You won't regret it!
  20. This is my first car under warranty. I purchased it in January. In relation to what "akirby" said about doing your own oil changes... is there a need to document your own oil changes to show that you keep up with maintenance in case there is a warranty claim later on? My dad recommended that I write down the date, mileage, and oil/filter each time to keep a record. What do you guys think?
  21. I agree about there being too many sub forums. I found the Scion XB thread last week, but I found it through a Google search that led me right back to this site. That bumper cover thread could have been created in several different sub forums. It didn't hurt to start a new thread in this sub forum. I just purchased the Scion XB part today. Now, if anyone can tell me if there is a setting to make every thread I post in a subscription instead of me clicking "watch this topic" all the time, that would be great. I use to be a member on another forum, and it would subscribe me automatically if I posted. Thanks.
  22. Brighter LED's on the front bumper so they actually act as fog lights. I would like a cigarette lighter in the middle of the dashboard in front of the gear shifter instead of next to the passenger's legs or in the middle console. Sometimes it is hard to shut the center console sitting in the driver seat. You have to reach back pretty far to grab the lid and bring it down. Maybe have it open towards the passenger side instead of the back? Either way, I love my Edge.
  23. I put a tint meter on my back windows and it showed %21. I had 35% installed on the two front windows. It looks good, and now my wife wants me to take her Jeep to get the same tint.
  24. I just ordered one of these Scion XB parts for my 2011 Edge. Thank you, OP, for finding this bumper protector. I hope it looks good on my silver Edge. I don't have any black accents anywhere, and my interior is tan. I have a German Shepherd that likes to leap in and out of the vehicle, so I was getting nervous.
  25. I talked to my local tint shop today. They want to tint the front windows at 18% to match the rear windows. I have heard the back windows are around 20%, but I don't want the front windows to end up a little bit darker. Does anyone know if 18% is accurate? They are going to charge me $99 for the front windows and guarantee the color for as long as I own the car.
