  1. Hello Wafn, Sorry if I didn't explain this completely. Let me rephrase a bit. You most certainly CAN play music on SYNC from a USB flash drive. You cannot, however, play PROTECTED content from these USB flash drive devices. You can think of protected content as a locked file that requires a key to be played from a device. Your computer and the devices I mentioned above can use these "keys", while simple devices like USB Flash Drives cannot (they can only store the locked file). Now, let's talk about how protected content is obtained. If you download songs online from sources like Wal-Mart, MSN Music, iTunes, Zune Marketplace, and so on, that content comes protected. Normally when you rip CDs to you computer, that content comes unprotected. There is a setting in Windows Media Player that determines whether the music you rip from CDs will be protected or not. By default it's unchecked but you should have a look to see if it is for you or not. You'll be looking in the "Options" menu. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like: If it's unchecked, you should be able to rip music from CDs, copy that music to your USB flash drive, and enjoy your favorite tunes in your new Ford Edge. I hope you found this information helpful.
  2. Hello Wafn, Media devices such as USB Flash Drives do not allow protected media such as the WMA files you've downloaded to be played. To play files protected by digital rights management (DRM), you'll need to use a device that supports that functionality. Devices that support DRM include iPods, Zunes, and other PlaysForSure devices. For a listing of supported phone and media devices for SYNC, please see www.SyncMyRide.com: SYNC Compatible Mobile Phones and Media Devices For a listing of PlaysForSure media devices, please see the following link: PlaysForSure Website I hope you've found this information helpful. Thanks,
  3. Hello John, Regarding capital letters, the issue is not that the contacts or media files containing capital letters did not get added to SYNC's phonebook or media index. Rather, the experience some users were having was the result of the speech systems logic around acronyms. For example, a contact named "DOG" would be accessible if the user said "dee oh gee" because SYNC interprets the captilized word as an acronym. A contact named "Dog" would be accessible if the user said "Dog". "LA" is not "la", it's "el ay", and so on. Regarding the definition of a significant change, adding or removing one or two tracks should be enough to trigger a reindex in most cases. Thanks, Marcus
  4. Hello Jaysonol, You should expect the second generation Zune device to work with your SYNC much like the first generation. You may notice some performance improvements on SYNC like shorter times between track changes, but the SYNC functionality will be quite similar. I hope you found this information helpful.
  5. Ford Sync and iPhone Topic Hello, You may want to refer to an earlier post about iPhone and Text Messaging over Bluetooth. akirby is correct. While most phones support the text messaging feature, not all support the text messaging feature over Bluetooth.
  6. Hello jamers1, Simply put, SYNC determines whether a "new" device is inserted and when to pick up things like the metadata changes when it notices that a significant change in size has occured on the device. In your case, changes to the artist name may not have been a large enough change to trigger SYNC to "reindex" and pick up the changes. If files are added or removed, or if you remove the old index by performing a Master Reset, you should notice that SYNC in synchronized with the changes you've made. Also, it may be helpful to ensure that all the metadata on your media reflects your changes. MP3/WMA files have multiple fields for Artist metadata. These are named "Artist", "Album Artist", "Contributing Artist" and so on. You may want to check these fields to make sure they reflect your expected information if the comments I made above do not help to resolve your media issue. I hope the information I've provided here is helpful.
