  1. It might be a leak, however it could also be the set pressure for the tpms. As an example say your tires are at 35 psi set in a warm garage. You then go out in the cold say a 40 degree drop in temperature, then it gets colder, this reduction in temperature could have set off the tpms alarm. On average the tpms sensor will not trigger unless you drop air pressure by 25%. So a Ford edge unless with 22" wheels calls for 35 psi, but if they were for some reason set for 40 psi, then here is a scenario. At a tpms setting of 40 psi they should not trigger until 30 psi. Now your shop sets your tire pressure to 35 psi in a warm 70 degree garage and you drive outside in the cold where you loose 4-5 psi, because the initial set up for the tpms was at 40 psi and the shop set the tires in a warm garage for 35 , you then lost 2 psi for being set while the tires were warm and 3-4 psi for outside cold temperature thus triggering the low tpms sensor. Personally I always set my tires when they are cold or add 2 psi for warm tires which will loose air when cooled down. I also always attempt to set the wire pressure when the car has been outside for at least 3-4 hours, as my garage rarely drops below 68 degrees. Just fuel for thought but really more then likely unless you keep adding air it's probably a leak somewhere such as tire bead, rusty or rusting rim, or leaking valve or seal.
  2. I am waiting on 2 kits. I called on the 12th and was informed that they had my incorrect address, they corrected it and informed they would mail it out in the mail immediately. Then on Sunday the 18th I again called and they assured me it was mail out on the week of the 5th and it takes upwards of two weeks to be completed, I was again informed that if I did not receive it by the 21-22 to call back. This now leave tomorrow for delivery and I am not holding my breath.
  3. Davisontech You know I've seen people like you before, you get a joy of breathing conflict, just to get a reaction, I will, and ask others, to end this post which will bring an end to this posting.
  4. SCORPIO I appreciate your assistance and your comments. I understand that you were attempting to give "constructive criticism". I see absolutely no reason for "davisontech" comments. As far as "davisontech comment of The psi has been checked and verified by 3 separate people including tirerack.com, another big online wheel dealer, and the tire manufacturer itself. I also personally know a number of people at my local rim shop that run in the 40-45 range without any issues. I do not know of any tire manufacturer who recommends a tire pressure, this is always left to the maker of the vehicle as each tire has different characteristics for a specific vehicle. Another reason is also liability in the event of a tire blow out from excessive pressure. An example of this is the 2012 focus sport and the 2010 mercedes amy all come with the Michelin PS3 tire size 235/40/18. In the Focus the recommended tire pressure is 32 psi where as the Mercedes is specified as 41 psi and the maximum psi on the sidewall which is a requirement of law is 51 psi. As you can see on the 2012 Focus the tire is inflated at 62.7% of maximum pressure and the Mercedes is inflated at 80.3%. "Scorpio" I am impressed at your restraint in your comment No pissing contest, just concerned for your safety...but since you don't seem to be, well happy motoring but I failed to see where you accused "Davisontech" of Since you want to accuse me of not caring for the safety of myself and my family.... "Dingo" your comment although might appear insulting to "Davisontech", it fits the mood of the thread as "Davisontech" is using a speaker magnet to activate his TPMS sensors when any forum would have told him to use the $20 ford resetting tool, and suddenly he is an expert on tire pressure and when simple constructive criticism was offered got extremely defensive and insulting. Go to the tire authorities that you mentioned with your problem. Since they're all tire ninjas, they'll have the solution. I have to agree with both Scorpio and Dingo people come to "Forums" demanding information and making insane comments then think they are entitled to insult anyone who does not agree with them, I'm sorry "Davisontech" given your attitude I would have been tempted to have made the same comments. Now as for the facts of this posting which originally deals with the proper way to re-set TPMS sensors. You do in fact need the specific magnet which is in the tool you mentioned, and as you found out you need the correct procedure for your specific type of ignition, for which you found posted at the "Tirerack" site. I have copied this information and leave it in the vehicle with my reset tool. Now as for specifics, the TPMS sensor will not trigger low pressure until less then 25% loss of air and thus your sensors will not trigger until your 45 PSI tires drop to approximately 33 PSI. If you do not like this 11.25 psi differential you could always inflate your tires to say 52 psi reset your system at this reading and then lower your tires to 45 psi and then the low pressure will now trigger when your tires drop below 39 psi. As for the actual pressure you choose, I was unable to find the actual recommended tire pressure by Ford for your vehicle. If you had 18" or 20" then the pressure is 35 psi for both front and rear. 45 psi is in my opinion way to high as mentioned by "Scorpio" Running to high can cause numerous problems as we must consider the following items, profile of tire and use of tire. If this tire is run on highway conditions for any longer then 10 minutes we then add 2-4 psi for hot tire inflation, thus the 45 psi then becomes 49 psi and places the tire in an over inflated position where the center tread protrude outwards, thus defeating any purpose in having wide low profile tires to begin with. I have done extensive testing of tires in over 3 decades of investigation both for company research and personal use. If you really want the correct tire pressure for your vehicle with your exact tires on the rims you are using then you need a laser thermometer. You start with a given psi as specified on your door decal and run down the highway say for 15 minutes. Then using the laser take 3 measurements from both the front and rear tires, being the center, inner and outer. Now if the center is hotter then the inner or outer, this means your psi is to high and you are driving on the center of the tread. If the inner or outer temperature is higher then the center then you are riding on the edges and thus you need more air in the tire. After doing this a couple of times you will get the perfect pressure for your exact car set up based on your vehicle with passengers and amount of vehicle you normally carry. I generally then average the left and right tire per axle, and use this as my guide for adjusting both front and rear tire pressure for optima effect. By doing this you will not only get the perfect psi for performance but will also get the optimal pressure for maximum tread life. You should do this initially upon installing new tires then after 500 miles of use as tire conditions change once they have been broken in. As I mentioned previously being a recently retired Police officer I have 32 years 2 months and 9 days of investigative experience. I spent over a Decade in Accident investigation and I am qualified as an accident analysis, and re-constructionist. In my opinion the two most important items are tires and brakes and tire pressure is the single most important issue that can affect a tire. The comments made by both Scorpio and Dingo are of concern for you, and I'm my opinion they are not trying to ridicule you in any way.
  5. I called Ford again this afternoon. After quite a lengthly delay I was advised it was in the scheduled package of units to be shipped on the 5th of March and was told that it can take several weeks to be shipped. I asked for clarification of her wording and was informed that it was shipped in the week of March 5th. after further clarification I was advised it was shipped in the week of March 5th which meant anywhere from the 5-12th of March. She then informed me that it can be up to 2 weeks to get shipped out in the week of march 5th. After learning a new political language being the week of ?, and it being defined that it can take 2 weeks to be shipped out in the week of ?, I have determined that more then likely it will be posted around 21 days after the 5th of March. Never have I seen such a run around with the exception of "Apple" who starts your warranty on the day you place your order and not the day you receive your product. As Apple informed me with the delivery of my product which will be in 3-4 weeks hypothetically this product is being built for me on the assembly line, just for me and no one else, and thus the reason for starting my warranty on this date. Funny thing was as it was now 7 days into my warranty which is on an item that will arrive in 16-23 days I informed the customer service manager that it no longer works and requested an immediate replacement. No sense of humor since Steve Jobs passed away. The long and short of this Post is that in fact the packages are shipping but for Canadians I would not expect to see your package until after the 26th of March.
  6. It appears that "Ford" does not care about us Canadians. Even if it were a language problem it getting out the map updates they could simply provide excessive map SD cards to the dealers.
  7. nothing in the West Coast, even the Dealers claim they have not received anything yet.
  8. I do not know about the level 3 headlights, but I think the differences are as follows. 1. US model Halogen with no DRL mode. (no extra bulb) 2. Canadian Halogen with DRL as reduced low beam voltage. (no extra bulb) 3. US HID with no DRL (no extra bulb as DRL are not required in US) 4. Canadian HID with DRL which has extra yellow bulb and is used to operate as DRL function as you cannot reduce voltage to HID's as you can with Halogen type bulbs. I think what you are probably looking for is the Canadian HID model as it has the extra yellow bulb which operates as the DRL function in Canada.
  9. Under my link the specs for this True Dual exhaust with chrome oval rolled-edge tips with two catalytic converters (Increased separated length tuned exhaust for low-end torque enhancement) is listed under "specs." for 2013 and not 2012
  10. I got this Quasi-Dual exhaust with polished round beveled-edge rolled tips and two catalytic converters
  11. let me know if you want to sell it when you are finished with it
  12. I also received a postcard (monday Jan-31)stating that I will "soon" receive a usb drive. I presume that they will also ship the SD card for the updated navigation at the same time. I have done updates with the usb drives before and it is quite simple, follow the instructions and remember never, never, turn the car off until the upgrade is complete. All in all about an hour start to finish, which would probable explain the $115 dealer charge for about an hour labour.
  13. they might be easier to sell if you included the following information total weight with tires center bore size offset bolt pattern just my .02 cents worth as they look very nice.
  14. I have it, and I am happy. I get 43-44 mpg on canadian gallon which would be about 37 us mpg. You would be using about 1.3 gallons of gas per day if you drive about 50 miles. In comparison you would be using about 2 gallons of gas on a V-6. So a savings of .7 at about $3.40 per gallon or a savings of $2.38 per day/$11.90 per week/$618.80 per year based on 5 days per week and 52 weeks per year. So based on this it would take you 1 year 8 months to break even. As far as extra costs, I don't see any, I have owned about 5-6 turbo vehicles in my life and never had to do anything extra. One thing every one seems to miss, is the added value you will get on trade in compared to a V-6 engine.
  15. I used to use these when I was modifying 2009 camry's that did not come with reverse camera's They have excellent quality and everything you need including under lip license plate mounts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/eclipse-bec-108-back-up-camera-/280785413340?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41601d64dc#ht_2649wt_1025
  16. You get what you pay for. Our screens are capable of 800x378 and if you use a low resolution camera, you will get a terrible picture. I ordered a couple of camera's off of ebay that replace the license plate light and I was severely disappointed even when hooking up to the built in picture on the reverse mirror. 2 things you should look for are resolution in the right format and lux. for resolution a min of 640x480 and in NTSC format not the european PAL format. for lux I used camera's down to .1 of a lux .5 should be ok this is what the camera see's in the low light or dark. I used to buy kits on ebay that average around 140-210 each just for the camera. In the lens you really do get what you pay for. I have a 2012 edge and a 2010 mercedes and I can tell you the camera lens in the mercedes far exceeds the quality in the edge. The edge is good with it's night quality and 8" screen however the mercedes far exceeds the edge in sharpness and night quality.
  17. I would trade your grille with someone who has a limited and you would both be better off
  18. I am curious why met re-programmed for different size wheels. As long as overall Dia. is the same there should be no need to change the met settings. Are you able to make these changes yourself or do you have to go to dealer? I have 20" summer which are 245/50/20 and I am installing winter tires which are 245/60/18 both overall Dia. is 29.6". As for gas mileage I have the ecoboost on my 2012 I am averaging 25-29 us mpg in the city according to the onboard computer. On the highway around 58 mph I can get upwards of 37 us mpg but it does drop rapidly even for 60 mph.
  19. only voted green because this is the easiest at returning vision at night. this is why most modern night vision is now green.
  20. were you able to find a box or cardboard cylinder to ship if possible
  21. Being you are in Canada you should have DRL's. I believe that if you do not have factory HID's then Ford uses your low beam at a reduced voltage to operate the low beams and this is your DRL's, thus when you converted to HID's your low beams are getting reduced voltage in the day time but full voltage at night as they are no longer in the DRL mode. You can resolve this by adding a relay and dedicated power harness to alleviate this problem but you might run into another problem whereby the computer does not sense enough draw going to the relay and throws a code or turns off power to the relay thinking there is a possible short in the system.
  22. unfortunately for the ecoboost it is only 1500 pounds.
  23. I am using the premium gas from Costco, and here in the WestCoast I am averaging about 35-36 mpg per US gallon at a speed of 55 mph. Previously I had the 2012 Focus and I did extensive testing in the summer and the premium more then accounted for the minimal increase in fuel cost. From research that I have done I noted that the rated hp and torque figures put out by Ford always referred to premium or 91 octane fuel. I know it runs well on regular but far better on premium and better gas mileage to boot.
  24. thanks for the help everyone, now an even bigger problem, I cannot find an adapter ring anywhere, I tried ebay, jets, summit, even some sites where you enter the dimensions, however they reply with not available. I know the difference is 7mm between inside and outside so I was thinking of getting a ring for a 2000 altima which is 66.1 to 73.1 and cutting away 2.5 mm and using this. What do you guys thinks of doing this thanks again tim
  25. I need some help I have a 2012 Edge Limited FWD with 20" wheels I Purchased a new set of 2009 Ford Edge OEM wheels on ebay for $350 to be used as my snows. I will be using 245/60/18 instead of 245/50/20 tires to keep the overall Dia. at 29.6" The lug spacing on both is 5 on 114.3mm My problem is that these wheels are hub centric meaning they are supported by the hub and not the lugs, which would cause them to go off center and give you an unbalanced driving experience. I believe the 2009 wheels are a hub size of 70.5mm I DO NOT KNOW THE HUB SIZE FOR THE 2012 HUB ON MY LIMITED. I am looking for the hub size of the 2012 and also where I can get the correct hub centric ring adapters. Hoping for a quick reply before the snow starts this afternoon Tim from WhiteRock(s/w corner of Canada)
