We have our third Edge, a 2019 Titanium Elite AWD. We have had a 2012, 2015 and now a 2019. Great cars and I can see the improvements in each model. Least favorite was the 2012. It had the 4 cyl Ecoboost and I noticed the tailpipes were very sooty after a while, plus once in a while when we started it, we would get a huge cloud of blue smoke. Traded it on a 2015 6 cyl which was a great car. When the 2019 came out with all the "assist" features coinciding with me getting old, we traded our 2015 and a 98 Mustang on it. We love it. I'm still getting used to all the features, but like the adaptive cruise and lane assist. Only have 1200 miles on it but like it. This Ecoboost 4 cyl is much peppier than the 6 was and quieter. Lots of improvements.

2015 Ford Edge Engines: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know
Frisco1522 replied to Chipster's topic in EcoBoost
I traded in a 2012 Edge Ltd with a 2.0EB engine. It ran nice, peppy but as others have mentioned it shifted kind of weird at times. What I didn't like about it was my tailpipes were heavily sooted and several times over the time I had it when I would start it in the morning I would get a huge cloud of blue smoke out of it which filled the garage. Dealer couldn't explain it and of course it wouldn't do it for them. I traded for a 2015 Titanium with the normally aspirated V6. Rides better than the '12, is quieter and has a little extra room. Mileage isn't anything to brag about, avg around 22 so far, more hwy, but quite a bit of in town. It only has 2200 miles on it, so I'm not sweating the mileage yet. I'm sure the ride and noise factor is due mostly to it being built on a fusion platform. Nice cars. -
I just bought a 2015 Titanium with Platinum Tri Coat Metallic three weeks ago. Last weekend I hand washed and Mequiar clay barred it, then used Menzerna Power Lock Polymer Sealant on it. Very happy with how it looks. Even new, the claybar smoothed it like glass. Looked so good, I did my '09 blue Ranger. It looks super now. Wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Are products like Mequiars detailing spray worth the trouble?

Did my second fillup today with 2015 FWD V6. Miles divided by gallons=22.9. About 80 percent highway, rest city and idling. Only has 800 miles on it.

Adaptive cruise control
Frisco1522 replied to northernone's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm disappointed that I couldn't find a '15 Titanium that had the Driver Assist package. My 2012 Edge Limited had a couple of features that they have put into the new package that I liked, the rain sensative wipers and the hill assist. I would have liked the adaptive cruise. I don't need the parking assist, but one of my pet peeves is being in cruise in back of someone who is up and down on speed. At my age, I probabaly won't be buying another new car, so I'll be happy with my Edge. Great car so far. -
Just discovered my new Titanium that I got on 7-29 with Package 301A doesn't have rain sensing wipers! I took it for granted that it did. Doing some snooping, I see that I would have had to have 302A with all the driver assist options. I couldn't find anything in the whole area with that package when I was shopping. Disappointed, since my 2012 Limited had them. Live and learn. Other than that, I'm tickled with the car. The '12 had the Ecoboost 4 and this has the non Ecoboost 6.

Post 15B21 leak repair follow up report
Frisco1522 replied to Chipster's topic in Recalls, TSBs & Warranty
Bought a Titanium on 7-29 with a Feb build date, last 5 09016. Dealer delivered it that day, I had to ask the salesman about it and he mumbled something. Checked online and found the TSB still outstanding, so took it back a few days later and sat around for 4 hours while they did the inspection and put some dinosaur snot on the a pillar joints. The car showed no signs of ever leaking, and has sat around through Spring with tons of rain, so I felt safe but wanted that TSB off the records. I'm VERY disappointed that the dealer didn't do this before selling the car. This is an old, old dealership and should have known better. Service folks were very nice. -
Had the car inspected/repaired per SB this morning. There were no signs of leakage and they put some of the dinosaur snot on the joints, so looks like I'm OK. Whew!
-
Hasn't rained since I took delivery, but the dealer washed it prior to me taking delivery. I have a 10 AM appointment with the dealer in the morning to inspect/repair. Hopefully they'll put some silicone snot on the joint just for insurance. Suspenders and a belt. Also, storms predicted for the morning.

I bought a new 2015 Titanium last week and have been going nuts trying to get the inside of the windshield streak free. Who makes the best glass cleaner?
-
I've done that and it says the item is still open. I'm going to grill my service manager and dealer tomorrow. I like the car too much to have that issue with it. I was told it was done, but I can't find proof.

OK, here we go. I bought a new 2015 Titanium last Wed. I noticed it had the TSB, but was told it had been addressed. Is there a place I can look on line to see if the TSB has been completed on my vehicle? I'm also thinking this. The build date was either 2-3-2015 or 3-2-2015. I bought it Wed, so that means it has been outside since Feb. We have had buttloads of rain this spring and early summer. Wouldn't you think it would be obvious if there had been a water leak? No smell, no dampness or appearance of anything inside. I looked at the area and there is no sealer visible. So do you think I've dodged the bullet or should I keep pressing the dealer for proof of inspection/repair? I'm going to do that anyway, but wonder if there is anywhere I can look to see confirmation? Dealer is reputable and has been a local landmark since 1912, so I don't think there's any shadiness here. Whattaya think?

I have a 2012 Ford Edge Ltd with the Ecoboost engine. Occasionally when I start it in the morning, I get a large cloud of light blue smoke out of the exhaust. I have mentioned it to the dealer and they would look at it, but it just does it occasionally. It smelled like transmision fluid smoke. My tailpipes are very sooty also. Car runs good, etc. In "The Old Days" I would accuse the engine of having bad valve stem seals, but I would think it would do it every time it sat overnight, not just occasionally. I don't like all the soot inside the tailpipes. A great part of my driving is on the highway and it gets warmed up completely. My 2009 Ranger has a nice clean tailpipe.

Problem with door ajar sensor
Frisco1522 replied to TORQUERULES's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I'm also getting the Driver's door ajar message. In addition, the chime will ring when I'm driving and tell me to shift into Park??? Dome lights stayed on, the little red icon on the dash stayed on. Plus, I had filled the car two days before and all of a sudden, the low fuel light came on. The level showed low. I shut it off and restarted it and it said 0 miles to empty. If I take it to the dealer, I guarantee it won't do this for them to see. My 3 years are up this month. Also have had the phantom wiper issue from time to time. I think my computer is manic depressive. -
All I've ever put in mine is 87 octane. Maybe I should try a tank of 93.
-
Hasn't done it again so I don't have a clue. Cancelled the dealer visit because had nothing for them to see. I have been videotaping every time we start it, but naturally it won't do anything.
-
Three times in the last 2 or 3 months and after sitting a day in the garage, when I started my Edge it put out a pretty sizable blue cloud from the tailpipes. It only does it on rare occasions. I have an appointment tomorrow to leave it at the dealer, but will probably cancel since it's not doing it now. I've even gone as far as to video the starts in case it does it again so I can show the service manager. Nothing. I have a little over 24K on it, doesn't burn oil, no check engine, runs fine and gets decent mileage. Inside tail pipes are black. Anybody else had this problem?

This is the reason I don't like the low profile tires. I have some curb rash on three wheels.

Edge did wierd thing last night
Frisco1522 replied to Frisco1522's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Went by the dealer today and the Service Manager was as baffled as I was over what caused it to go into the anti-theft mode. We wondered if someone had come by and pulled the door handle and set something into motion. We also wondered if someone close by may have had a similar key fob and there was interference. I'm still wondering how I could walk up and the door unlocked when I touched the handle but it said No Key Detected when I tried to start it. Service Manager is going to get with Ford and see if they can figure it out and get back to me. At least they are trying. To add insult to injury, I got heartburn from the Mexican restaurant. -
Went out to eat last night. When we came out and got in the car I hit the start button and nothing happened. Hit it again and got a message that the key was not detected. Then the notice started flashing and then the alarm started sounding. It would start remotely, but when I put my foot on the brake and hit the start button, got the same message about key not detected. My wife and I both had our keys with us. I kept trying to start it and it kept doing the same thing and also annoying the hell out of people eating on the patio next to us. After several tries and getting this result, I opened the rear gate with the remote and closed it. Got the card out to call roadside assistance tried it once more and it started like it always does. This morning, went out and hit the garage door opener and as the door started going up, I saw my lift gate was open. Got a little tense between me, the door and the liftgate and scratched it where the door hit it. Started OK and everything, but now I'm gun shy. What the heck is going on? Naturally this happened on a Friday night when no dealers are open.

I have a 2012 Edge Ltd with the 2.0 Ecoboost and am impressed at how well the little 4 moves the car aound. It's comfortable for me (6'3" 265 lbs). I had a 2011 Terrain for 8 months and traded it on the Edge because after driving 50 miles or so, I had the figits from being uncomfortable. The Terrain was a great little vehicle, but was just a tad small. I should have rented one for a weekend before buying. It never got decent mileage and had sooty tailpipes. I have nearly 6000 miles on the Edge and it is getting crappy mileage and has sooty tailpipes. 90% of my driving is running on the Interstate at 65MPH, I baby it away from stop signs, etc, and hardly ever get on it enough to cause the turbo kick in. I get around 22-23 MPH at best. I've thought about taking it to the dealer and don't reallly think they will find anything. I used to have a 2007 Rendezvous, which also got crappy mileage, but wasn't rated that high. When I got rid of it after 4 years, the inside of the tailpipes was clean enough to eat off of. I'm not sure how I could drive this Edge any easier, I use cruise most of the time on the highway and ease away from stops. What am I doing wrong? Or is there something wrong with the car? We love it otherwise.

I have the same deal with my 2012. I have to finesse it to fill it up completely, Had something happen the other day that hasn't happen to me in years. I was topping it off on a slow setting and it actually ran over.
