  1. Oh man, that sucks! But at least you can still use the speakers in the back. P.s. we are all nuts!
  2. Prinzll, I did not change any of the stock wiring from the head unit to the Sony amp because that would pretty much be a worthless task in my opinion. The moster cable goes from the Sony amp to the audio control LC6i and then of course quality RCA cables from that unit to the amps then monster cable to the speakers from there. Hope that makes sense.
  3. I figured you had some electronics background or something in the IT area. It appeared to me you know your stuff. I used the Audio Source LC6i rather than the LCQ-1 in order to save a bit of money. The LCQ-1 adds equalization over the LC6i otherwise they do the same thing as far as integration of high level signals to low level inputs for the highly involved systems like our Sony systems. All the RF amps I am using have the punch EQ knobs and I had them installed in the center stack just in front of the center console hatch so I can adjust things on the fly since you tend to get different output between CDs, FM, Satellite, and MP3 players. They all do different things because of varying signals and compression. About the BA speakers. My friend on here, Dingo, uses all Boston Acoustic speakers and he loves the sound of all his. He gives all their stuff a glowing recommendation. Keep me posted on your progress and take pics along the way! Good luck! Chris
  4. It's hard to tell from the pic. Is that cut for a 10 or 12" That box is very similar to what my audio shop did for me in that location. It certainly doesn't lave any room for amps back there does it?
  5. My spare tire is now a can of Slime, aka fix-a-flat! My wife is in the insurance business and I added roadside assistance and flatbed towing to my policy. Believe it or not you can get that specific! If there is a way to do what I did and put the larger sub in the spare area and still carry a spare I sure don't know of it. As for keeping the brands the same throughout, in my opinion it has everything to do with timbre. I see a good car audio system the same as a rolling home theater. I feel like sticking with one brand gets you as close as possible to the manufacturers desired effect. In other words, Boston Acoustics engineered their stuff to work well all together rather than to mesh in with say Rockford Fosgate or some other brand. I hope I'm making sense here. On a side note, it's kind of funny but my profession is actually in the home theater business. I design and install systems for both builders and home owners. I thought it amusing that you used that as an example! Coincidence? I think not!
  6. It sounds great. I have them crossed over at different points so they work well together. The 10" sub plays the higher and mid bass from about 60 to 150Hz and I have the 12" cutoff to play 60hz and below. They seem to mesh well. The good thing is that with the crossovers done correctly the subs do not cancel each other out at all. I see yo u have a couple of 12s in your Edge. How did you amp them up and where did you put them?

Did I mention that I love those wheels?
  9. When I do audio upgrades I try to stick with as few brands as possible. My opinion is that you should go with the Boston Acoustics for everything but the sub. For the sub you can't go wrong with the R|2 Fosgate. Keep in mind that the rear subwoofer box can easily be modified to hold a 10" sub and mine (which was done up with a 10" pioneer low profile sub) really kicks some ass and it keeps things looking just like they did when the car rolled off the assembly line. That's my 2 cents. When are you planning on starting this project or have you already started it?
  10. My new subwoofer setup. I just added this 12" low profile pioneer and its running on a Rockford Fosgate p500.1bd amp. The original subwoofer location still has the 10" pioneer low profile sub running a RF 400.1 amp. I'm still working out the crossover points between the two subs. Anyway, if you feel like it then please let me know what you guys think. Sorry about the lighting in the pics. We took them at night without much light in the garage. Thanks. The first pic is the rear escort ZR4 laser shifter. I think the tech took the easy way out on the install by not putting the rear shifter on the license plate. That would have required running the wire through the rubber tube that protects all the wire going into the hatch. I hear folks with the laser shifters rarely if ever get hit by laser from the rear. Il add some pics of the front install soon.

love it! What brand are those wheels? I promise I won't copy you!
  13. Thanks! I looked it up and found some of the polycharger on autogeeks.com. That's usually where I buy my waxes and pads, et al. I think I will try some of the polycharger when I place my next order. Thanks again for the suggestion.
  14. What is a polycharger? Scuse my ignorance on the subject. I just want to be protecting my paint in the best way I know how.
  15. Prinzil, Good info...thanks for the reply!
  16. You dropped down in size from the stock 22" right? It's kind of hard to tell.
  17. Very nice. Good looking Edge all around and ESP since it 5 yrs old. Great job!
  18. you will need some resistors for the turn signals, not for the reverse lights, and maybe for the brake lights. IT just depends.
  19. I used these.. http://superlumination.com/3157_3156.htm I used the bulbs at the bottom of the page described as such ....60 Red 3157 High Powered Leds $29.99 EA.... They are the last bulbs right before the LED control modules. I dunno how they compare in price to the third brake light flasher module that Dingo uses. I just have the top set of my brake bulbs flashing and on the bottom set I used the same bulb but without the flashing capability. They are about half the price and match in color and brightness. Chris
  20. That's how I roll (professionally installed) because I don't want to be the one to damage my vehicle's electrics or something else of the like. I'd rather pay someone else to do it and let them worry about that liability. Plus I'm not 25 years old anymore and I'll admit that I've gotten a bit lazy on some things!
