Within the last couple of months, I have experienced a dead battery. No lights left on, no doors left open, no true cause for this. After a jump the edge cranks fine and operates fine. Another couple of weeks go by with no further, issue. Then it happens again. Jump it again and I have my shop check the battery. Test shows the battery is charging fine. Personally I call B*******. So I just get a new battery. Since the new battery I haven't had another issue with starting. However, there is something odd. This is a 2010 limited. The backlit screens that show the radio frequencies and the area where the trip recorder and other data is shown, it fades out to a dull light. At times they are as bright as the backlit light of the AC/Heater system light, and then they fade to a dull light and at one time faded out to nothing at all. Couldn't tell what frequecy or mileage or anything read. Has anyone ever experienced this? Naturally it behaves this way just after the warranty expires. This happened prior to the battery change and they are still dim now afte the new battery. But my real thoughts are maybe since the battery has now been changed, that there is some method of syncing all the electrical system and such with a series of key twists, pedal pumps, on/off's, and maybe a dance move or two while sticking out my tongue will correct the issues without me having to go to a local dealer. Thoughts?

Congrats on the purchase. It's a great ride and I hope you guys enjoy it. you'll love this forum. I replaced my filter with a K&N too. Still waiting to get the windows tinted

Personally, I like your ride. The paint finish looks more like a satin finish than a flat finish. There still seems to be a sheen to it and I think you did a great job. My husband has black rims on his truck and allot of people gave him crap about it because it wasn't the thing to do when he got it. Funny how so many are going to the black wheels now. He just sits back and grins. Nice job on your Edge. It looks cool. I prefer my shine for mine but still like yours too.

Right there with you Igcitng. I don't fit the old, young, taxi, grocery ride thing either. I wanted to ride in style, haul the things I need a play! I would like to make some modifications but not that many as I like the edge as it is. I saw some guy trick out his exhaust and to each his own but I can't imagine taking my ride and trying to make it sound like a weak A** 4 banger! A few cosmetic or lighting modification parts would be sweet though. My husband basically sold me on this ride while I was searching. We have access to parts for just about anything at deep discounts, so all I have to do is say, Hey babe, I was thinking this would be cool on our Edge and he handles the rest. Turns out sweet everytime! He loves this ride just as much as I do and we both have a blast driving it. He does put it to some harder tests than I do, but it's all good. Still looks like allot of madificaitons for the edge will be fabrications though. Looking forward to seeing more input on this thread.

OMG! I know what you mean on the color. I have a cinnamon colored edge. Like a dark brown that reflects a little red and it's just dark enough to make me a tad OCD on the cleaning! LOL Love the picks. You are so going to love that ride.

How to detail the interior
ladybell replied to ladybell's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Her used SUV was a rental so there are several scuff marks on the plastic surfaces in the rear. The interior is the light tan/beige. So is mine and I have some interior cleaner products but even on one of the scuff marks in mine, it doesn't help to remove it. Thoughts? -
I dig that tent option too. Not sure how often I would use it but it would remove the need to close the hatch and then I could hang my feet off the end of the mattress if I am too long. Been to a couple of all nighter parties that having that tent or mattress option in a vehicle like this would have saved me from sleeping upright on someones couch or on a hard floor. I wonder about the rear lights when the hatchis open though. Might need a quick disconnect r something programmed to shut out or I could face battery drain.

I have read allot of information on how to detail the exterior and take car of leather but I would like to get some feedback on cleaning and detailing the interior. My best friend just got a used Ford and it has cloth seats. The dealer "shampooed" the seats and carpet so they claim but they did a subpar job n my opinion. The vehicle smells like smoke and has some stains on the seats and carpet. Does anyone here have any recommendations for cleaning these materials or how to get the smoke smell out of or off of the surfaces without damaging it any further?

Edgieguy - I also thought about creating the template and cutting me some memory foam to use but I guess where I have issue it storing it while driving to and fro. Good ideas so far. My husband and I are both tall so I don't expect this to be something chosen more than not but I would like to prepare for the option if needed. Keep any thoughts and suggestions coming! Thanks guys

Well the "deflated" measurement of the coleman suv air bed is 77"x44"x6". But it has a second chamber kind of like a head pillow portion. I feel like it will be too long but just might be just right width wise (inflated of course). I measured the narrowest section of the cargo area and I think there will be no issue. But may have to roll the head section up to close the deck lid if weather is bad. I understand about the young ones. I just don't want to deal with bulky memory foam or pads and thing when this air matress rolls up it is 18" x 12" and that is a perfect storing size.

OK so, now that I have the Edge, I wonder .... How many of you have camped overnight in your edge? My husband went on a bird hunting trip and took the edge. When he got to where his buddies were staying he realized he was slightly ill-equipped for sleeping arrangements. But HEY, he could sleep in the edge. There was room. Well .. the poor guy ached all over the next day as he had no blanket, pillow or overall comfortable place to lay. The floor is just not ideal obviously. So I been checking out the idea of an air mattress we can use. I found Coleman has a specific SUV air mattress that just might fit perfectly. It's rather inexspensive too. They offer a 12v DC power pump you hook up to your powerport (just so happen to have that in the back cargo area! Nice!). So I am wondering, have any of you guys used an air mattress or anything of the sort for this purpose? They have those SUV tents. Have any of you ever used those? I like the fact that the Coleman air mattress rolls up to a very storable size that can be kept in the car. Just figure it might be a nice addition for those "just in case" moments. Any feedback is appreciated.

Got my ride back today!!! Looks great. A little body work to get it back in shape, little refinishing and some clear coat and my wonderful ride looks great! They handled my rental car, repair and all is well. I feel better and do appreciate the input from you guys! After my rental ..... I am certain the Edge has spoiled me rotten!!!!
