Thanks again for the excellent discussion about our EDGE-2 LED DRL kit. We recently made several improvements to the electronic controller, upgraded amber LEDs and DRL housing of our original EDGE-2 DRL kit (EDGE-2v1). The new EDGE-2v2 kit is very similar to the original in function and installation. Here are my responses to some of your questions: If you want the EDGE-2 DRL's to work as the factory DRL's did you'll need to hook it up this way: (this will allow your DRL's to be on ONLY if parking and/or headlights are on) 1) Long yellow wire from control box connects to passenger side YELLOW/PURPLE parking light wire 2) Shorter yellow wire from control box connects to drivers side BLUE/GREEN parking light wire 3) Red wire from control box connects to battery +, Black to battery - 3) White wire from control box can do 1 or 2 things.... a) keep unhooked and DRL white lights will always be 100% brightness.. or what ever you splice it to it'll be 70% brightness when that function is on. ie. hook it to high beam, they'll dim on high beam, hook to low beam like the kit suggests, the lights will dim when low beam is on, hook to parking lights, they'll be 70% when parking lights are on, etc.. 4) Red Wire with FUSE from control box hooks to the middle parking light wire on the drivers side. Hooking the fuse red wire to the middle of the 3 parking light wires will make the DRL's turn on if your parking lights or headlights are on.. Basically this fuse wire is the main power source wire. So whatever function you hook this wire too, the lights will turn on. (This is exactly right. Automatic on/off DRL function will no longer work. DRLs will now have to be manually switched on with the headlight switch and the parking lights will be on when the DRLs are on. The DRL turn signals will not function if the parking lights / DRLs are not on) Hope this makes things a bit clearer. Your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm currently traveling and not able to post a detailed reply right now, but I will by tomorrow. Great discussion by the way. Lot's of good information and very helpful feedback on possible improvements to instructions and wiring methods to provide additional function variations. Check back tomorrow for my reply. Edit: May 8, 2014: We now offer a Courtesy Light adapter wire for the EDGE-2 DRLs. This allows our DRL kits to perform the same way as the stock accent lights did. Click on the picture of our webpage below to go right to it. Instructions are just below that. We recommend only using our harness. Damage to the kit due to improper wiring will void the warranty.

Never use a heat gun! Only the oven method. No more than 260 degrees for 8-10. Then slowly work open the lens. When the lamp cools, stick it back into the one for 5 minutes and continue prying. Key is to keep the lamp warm and taking your time. We are actually developing a blacked out reflector version of our EDGE LED taillight. I'm hoping to have a prototype finished in a couple of weeks. I'll post a picture here when it's finished.

Hi guys, My LED taillights do have reflector strips. See photo below. The lights also have a chrome reflector under the red lens that reflects light well when the taillights are off. Not that it would matter with my LED taillight, but wannabang is right, no officer would pull you over for having an undamaged taillight not having a reflector designed into into it. My LED Taillights also do not look as if they are a non-OEM aftermarket light. Their desgin and quality of the manufacturing is as good as any factory stock light out there. I have never seen or heard of an Edge with a stock third brake light having your pulsing effect. You may want to check into whether or not you are having a problem with the electrical system.

Hi guys, the Ford EDGE has a very flaky electrical system, as many of you are well aware of (especially HID kit users). I have found that about 10% of the Edges that have had my LED kits installed into experience a hyperflash issue. The other 90% don't have any problems at all, including me. (I have them installed in my EDGE). Some customers have been able to eliminate the hyperflash by performing these steps: 1) Flip the LEDs 180 degrees, 2) switch the LEDs from one side to the other, and 3) Move the front LEDs to the rear and the rear LEDs to the front. If none of these cure the hyperflash, I am sending customers a set of resistors at no charge to attach to the turn signal wires (very simple to do with no wire cutting or splicing). The resistors will definitely eliminate the hyperflash. Vortechtrol, try these steps and if they still hyperflash, shoot me an email at info@DAYTIMEBrightLites and I will send you a set of resistors.

Hi toast1850. Not sure if you have already purchased the OEM lights, but you may be interested in my EDGE-2 LED daytime running light kit. It is a perfect solution for EDGE SE owners who want to upgrade their blank plastic covers to a super bright true DRL. Unlike having to splice into the factory wiring that you have to do to get the OEMs to work, my EDGE-2 DRL kit comes with an included wire harness and controller that connects to the battery terminals. No wire cutting or splicing. Edge-ethusiast, the plug configuration I show in the video is a bit unclear. let me see if I can clarify it a bit better for you. My LED tail lights are polarity sensitive. Meaning, that if you plug the taillight wire harness into the stock bulb socket in the wrong way the LED tail lights will not work. I'm trying to describe that the black wire from the LED tail lights plug in the black wire from the OEM wire harness Bulb socket needs to be on the same side of the connection.

I am so glad you like your new LED taillights and thanks for the nice write up. I'm sure you'll agree that photos don't do lights justice. I remember seeing the first preproduction sample on my EDGE for the first time, just blew me away. There is just no way to capture it with a camera. With the 3D floating LED ribbon parking light having a totally uniform amount of light running along its length, it is difficult to see it. It doesn't have the bright "hot spots" that most other LED taillights have. But as you found, when it gets a lite dark outside, the ribbon is incredibly noticeable. Don't you agree? I have actually been shipping 50W reverse lamp LED with my LED packs. My supplier had run out of 25W bulbs, so he sent me this 50s at no extra charge. The 25W LED are still significantly brighter than the stock bulbs. Thanks again for the business. By the way, the Holiday Sale ends January 2nd, so everyone that has been thinking about getting a set, may want to do it son to take advantage of the savings. Dan

I can't thank you enough for helping me work through adapting our LED tail to the 2008-2010 Edge. I knew you would really like the performance of the new LED tail. The look is so different and unique from anything Ford has made and brings the style up to the level of the more upscale car brands. Hey Subzero, I know this thread is almost a year old, but wanted to post about our new Ford Edge specific LED tail light replacement assembly and optional LED packs. The new LED tail lights are a plug and play direct replacement unit. Simply pull out your stock tail light, unplug stock tail light wire harnes & sockets and plug them into my new LED tails.
