The Amazon LEDs you guys are using Are not the configuration to use in a ceiling mounted lamp that must bounce 50% of the light output off of a brushed aluminum reflector. There's a lot of light being lost. Use a a single faced LED array that only sends light in one direction. I'm going to be starting a map light custom retrofit soon. Have already talked to Prinz about evaluating my first prototype. I'm looking at possibly using a 1.5" X 2" LED panel custom mounted in each lamp. I will also be frosting the lenses to both diffuse the light evenly across the interior and also to help conceal the LED light source.

Hey SoCal, I enjoy reading about new owner's buying experiences and when they first take delivery of their 1st Edge. Brings me back to when I got mine a year ago. I had a great time shopping for it and the anticipation before taking delivery. Kind of like a first kiss. (OK, maybe not to that degree). I keep it new by adding mods I've learned about here on the forum.

That looks great. Love the black and white cotrast. I already have a can of plasti. Just need to get the time to do it. Good work SoCal.

There can be a lot of color variation from one LED bulb to the next. Even if the bulbs came from the same production lot. For this reson, I test each bulb and pair up matching bulbs before sending them out.

Just to clarify, I don't sell the license plate LEDs. I include a free pair when you by a set of my LED Puddle Lights. Can't get less "pricey" then that. :P

Help with 2012 Edge Sport HID's...
kc300c replied to KingMike's topic in Accessories & Modifications
KingMike, If you're looking for a replacement of the entire headlight assembly, then I would hold off buying HIDs until you know which bulb type it comes with. -
I'd like to see some too. I've been wanting to do this to my rear emblems for a while? I'm not going to cover the blue oval though, just the chrome. Some don't care for the blue, which is cool, but I c Kind of like having. A bit of color back there.

Custom Halo Headlights
kc300c replied to mikeblake710's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Hey Mike, What's the color temperature of your switchbacks and AE's? They look to have quite a bit of blue in them. I think the bluish color looks really good on your Edge.- 26 replies

I don't use the phone phone button on the stealing wheel very often, but if I remember the last time I used it, I just held the button down for a second or two and it ended the call. Could be mistaken though. Have you tried holding the button down? (Off topic here, but just last week I shipped a set of my SE version vertical LED daytime running ights to a gentleman in Ecuador.)

Help with 2012 Edge Sport HID's...
kc300c replied to KingMike's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I have a set of DDM Tuning HIDs in my 12 Sport. A lot of other forum members use them as well. Here's the link taking you directly to the lights. http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W . Bulb type is the 9006/HB4. I originally bought the 55W, 6000K's, but found they were too bright and a bit too much blue in them. I was lucky enough to have a fellow forum member and a customer of mine, give me his 35W ballasts and bought a set of $15.00 35W DDM bulbs. I just ordered a set of 35W, 5000K's to give my 18 year old son for Christmas. They are a hell of a deal right now at $35.00 a kit. Be sure to also order the wire harness if you go withe 55W. They seem to have problems in the Edge if you don't use one. 35W's shouldn't need it. I used to have a thread here on the forum with a video showing my complete install, but disaster struck when the forum administrators accidentally and perminently deleted every post and thread I had when my account was being changed over to an authorized advertiser account. I'll be creating a new thread of it again, but for now, I'll post it here: -

Really liking the matte black trim wrap. It's amazing, you think you have read or heard of all the mods that can be done on the Edge and mods like this pop up. Great imaginations out there. -
Oh, I thought she might have been a leap year baby. I won't tell you the other thing I thoght. Let's just say that it involved me calling the cops!

Have you priced out what the cost is for the entire panel assemblies? You could do what I am doing withj my LED lighting products and buy the whole cluster assemb ly and charge the customer a refundable core charge, convert the panels and ship the complted units to the customer. The customer then sends their original OEM panels back to you after they install your new LED cluster. If the returned clusters pass inspection, refund the /cluster core charge and use the returned OEM panel for the next job. There is an initial investment that you will need to make that you need to add into the cost of the product, but for the convenience and the increased pool of customers you are now able to service, you would soon recover these costs. Good luck with it. Shoot me an email if you want to discuss it in more detail. Dan@DAYTIMEBrightLites.com

Edited by kc300c, Today, 11:11 PM "right after a posted this reply" - crap, I can't believe I wrote so much. Sorry for the novel. M.B., thanks for the nice review of our vertical LED DRLs and the level of service we gave you. M.B. was one of our first 30 customers and ordered a set of our Vertical LED Running Lights with the OFFSET light pipe. As we began building more and more vertical DRLs, we looked for ways to help improve the manufacturing process both from a quality standpoint as well as developing manufacturing methods that would reduce labor, materials and component costs. As anyone who has been in the manufacturing business, sometimes these two objectives conflict with each other. That's what happened to M.B. regarding the interior surface of the lens fogging up. I traced the failure back to the reflector paint. I tried using a more durable black paint coating to cover the chrome reflector to reduce the chances of the paint failing years down the road. It was (and still is) the best coating for the job, but I failed to read that it has a longer curing/drying time than the paint I had previously used. Another strike against me was the fact that it had rained and the humidity was very high, further increasing the dry time. So before the coating was completely cured the lenses were attached and sealed to the housing. This trapped in the still uncured paint not allowing the the chemical vapors to out-gas into the atmosphere. Over time, with summer days becoming hotter and hotter, the chemical vapor began to boil off of the reflector paint and attached to the poly-carbonate lens. The corrosive chemicals from the vapor permanently etched the crystal clear lens (in the trash they went). I not only allow more curing time but have implemented procedures to further reduce the chances of this happening again. I'll save the explaination of the Philips controller issue for a later post, but in short, the first versions of the Philips controllers had difficulties with the erratic voltage levels that is unique to the electrical system of the Edge. Philips developed and is now supplying me with a new controller version that absolutely solves the problem. I'm glad M.B. chose to include the hiccups he and I shared with his lights in his review. Starting a new business and developing a new product does not take place in a bubble. I felt terribly at first about the issues a few of my first customers experienced. But soon I discovered the coolest thing, my customers, including M.B., did not get upset or ask for a refund as i thought some might do. But no, they rolled up their sleeves, popped their hoods and helped me to find the root cause of the issue. I was amazed by this at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that we all are Edge enthusiasts and we want our Edge to be the best we can make it. If the rolls were reversed, I would have rolled up my sleeves as well. Thanks again M.B. and all of the other forum members who have bought my lights and those who helped me work through some of the early kinks (you know who you are). And thanks for the kind words about my service. Yeah, the money is nice, but I think I get more from the business by the friends I'm making along the way.

I'm planning to black vinyl the roof of my platinum white Sport. I didn't go with the sunroof option, but I sure like how the Edge looks with the blacked out roof.

YNOT, I like your work. Would you be interested in helping me come up with a logo for my company DAYTIME BrightLites? We're an aftermarket LED lighting company which makes vehicle specific custom LED daytime running lights and LED puddle lights. My website is www.DAYTIMEBrightLites.com. I found these images I like on the web. Let me know if you'd like to talk more about it.

Hey iBraeson, I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I have been swamped and had to drop off the grid for a while. I just became an authorized advertiser here on the forum and have a rotating banner ad at the top of the page. The company name is DAYTIME BrightLites and the website is www.DAYTIMEBrightLites.com. My company makes aftermarket exterior and interior LED lighting products. I'm thinking of a logo with a pencil sketch technical drawing of a vehicle with a few watercolor highlights. I need to incorporate and highlight LED daytime running lights into the front end of the vehicle. Here are some images I pulled off the internet. Feel free to send me an email if you'd like to get into a little more detail. kc300c@DAYTIMEBrightLites.com

Welcome to the Edge family. You're right about the Edge standing out in the crowd. It's definitely unique looking and turns a lot of heads. Be sure to ask a bunch of questions here. A lot of knowledge floating around. Would love to see some pics of your new ride.

Finally completed my Audio upgrade project.
kc300c replied to Cdpratt69's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Boy Mr. Pratt, you've been busy with the mods. Love what yoU did with the sound system. I lease my Edge and don't want to pump a lot of money into a complete sound system. Would swapping out just the speakers make any difference? I figure it will be easy to pull them out when the lease is up. Any suggestions on specific speakers to buy. (Hope your still enjoying your new LED DRLs)- 8 replies

EGR, Would you be interested in a set of my Vertical LED Running Lights to use on your SEMA Edge? I have all three versions in stock and could get them to you quickly. Shoot me a PM and maybe we can work something out. Could be some nice exposure for my LED lighting products for the Edge.
