HID questions
kc300c replied to MikeyDubs's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
No problem wannabang. Candurin's right, 6Ks were too blue so switched to 5K. I'm actually going to be switching out the 5Ks for 4300Ks in the near future. The DDM 5Ks still have a very slight blue at the outside edges of the light beam. I'm certain the 4300Ks won't have anything. For $40.00, my DDMs work just fine for me. Had to get the harness / relay to get the lights to stop flickering and the RH bulb won't come on when I am using the auto-on headlights. I never use the auto-on anyway because I want to keep my Vertical LED Running Lights alone and on full brightness later into dusk. -
Do your mirrors have the 1-5/8" opening under the mirror with a plastic cover filling the hole? If so, pop the cover off to see if there are two wire leads inside. If not, then you will need to run a two conductor wire through the mirror into the rubber conduit between the door and body. You can either tap into the dome light wire (easiest) or track down the location of the door switch. (Not sure where the switch is). Be sure to put a 2 or 3 amp in-line fuse on each of the two puddle light's positive conductor. (note: if you connect it to the dome light wire, the puddle lights will turn on when you use the manual dome light switch on the dash. You don't want to drive with the puddle lights on or you will get a ticket). Shoot me a PM if you're interested in a set of my plug and play LED Puddle Lights.

HID questions
kc300c replied to MikeyDubs's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
The stock fog lights are halogen. Halogens are typically 3200K in color having quite a bit of yellow in the light. 4000K - 4300K is the color of most factory OEM HID headlights. In order for the headlights to match the fogs you will need to change the bulbs in the fogs. There are three options. A Sylvania Silverstar type bulb, LED replacement bulb or an HID kit. Just be sure to get the same color temp as the headlights. -
Trouble installing HIDs, Help
kc300c replied to Sparkles's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Glad your hubby got them to work. It's worth a little skin off the knuckles to have a set of HIDs. It makes a huge difference in the look and performance of the headlights. -
The diagram is of a 9006 bulb. Swapping sides should do it. I thought I was the only one that hit my fob from afar so I can check out my LEDs. Very cool.

Hey Norm, Concerning your wire shadow, it sounds to me like you somehow were able to fit a square peg through a round hole ;-). When you inserted the bulb, the tabs did not match up, so the return wire is not positioned correctly. Here's a diagram I made of the proper tab orientation: (How are my LED puddle lights working out for you?)

Welcome to the Edge family. You are going to love your new Sport! Lowery is right, go to www.syncmyride.com and get the latest version of SYNC. If you still have problems with your iphone pairing, I would take it into the dealer to see what they can do.

My first mod.. Daytime Brightlites
kc300c replied to Cruiser64's topic in Accessories & Modifications
The stock Ford lights have a chrome interior while my lights are completely black except for the eight LED openings. So when the LEDs are off, you will have a nice black look. -

Thanks for pointing out the problem with my YouTube link. I think I fixed it. I edited my earlier reply, but here is as well. BE SURE TO CLICK ON THE VIDEO TO OPEN IT UP TO FULL SCREEN. As for the turn indicator version, we are ironing out the final details on the controller circuitry and wiring. Hoping to have it ready for production in the next few weeks. -
My first mod.. Daytime Brightlites

Wow Cruiser, your Edge looks great and the photos really captured the look of my lights, even better than most of the photos I have taken. Looks like I will be adding some new pics to my customer reviews page on my website. I don't have the time to comment on eveything, but will in the near future. I just have to say thank you for the kind words cruiser & cellbine. You guys were great working with too. Two things before I go. First, click on my signiture banner to go to my website and second, here's a new video I took of a side-by-side comparison of two Edges. The one on the left has the stock accent lights and the one on the right has my Ption 3 DRLs with the OFFSET light pipe, like Cruisers. -
I'm with JOEHIO, Platinum White ROCKS! . By the way JOEHIO, My buddy just picked up his new silver Sport and it looks awesome. I immediately installed a set of my Vertical LED Running Lights and LED Puddle Lights on it. I will be posting a video of mine and his side by side. His with my DRLs and mine with the factory stock accent lights. The difference is amazing. Good luck to you and your wife with the new ride Road Dog.

I almost through one of mine away with my soda can when the pad stuck to the bottom of the sticky can. I took mine out a while back. Some of the cans and cups I wouldn't sit right and wobbled. Really annoying. They are either buried in a box or on a shelf somewhere or I threw them out. OK all you do-it-yourselfers, time to come up with a cheap and easy replacement. Not a sexy mod, but a mod none the less :-)

Wow! great photos of a really cool looking Edge!

Thanks for the plug Candurin. I do have LED bulbs for the interior lamps on the Edge, but other than my LED Puddle Lights (with license plate LEDs) and Vertical LED Daytime Running Lights, I don't offer any other exterior LEDs. Interior LEDs are easy to manage, but selling HID kits, LEDs for reverse, tail and turn indicators is very time consuming from a customer support standpoint. My business plan is not to be a re-seller of LED commodity products, but a manufacturer of unique high value lighting products and marketing them to wholesalers, distributors and retailers (online & brick & mortar). Sparkles, if you want the best forward visibility, go HIDs. You don't need to go to 55W. 35W kits are plenty bright and significantly better than the stocks. The install is so easy. Do a forum search for info on the reverse, tails and turn indicator LEDs. And don't be afraid to spend the money on the best LEDs for the brake lights and turn indicator bulbs. They will be the only ones that will be as bright as the OEMs. Anything less bright only invites an accident and lawsuit.

I think the only way to get the Pro Zen to work properly is to intsall a custom tune along with it. It has been a long time since I looked at CAI threads, but I believe some have had luck with other brands.

You know it!

Glad you joined Renz. Lots of good info and a lot of great people.

That's plenty of clearance. If you ever take up a pen's width in wheel deflection while you're driving, my bet is that you just hit a curb. :D

JUst finished installing my in dash Pro Clip active cradle with hardwired USB connection for my new Galaxy 3s. Now it's time to fire up some Android apps)

LOVE IT!!!!!! amazed at what just a little chrome or the lack of it can do to the look of a car. I wouldn't mess with the tint now.

Help with TRS HID wire harness
kc300c replied to c_bova's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Perfect c. I forgot you were a fellow 300c owner. I'm still using the username I created when I first registered on that forum. -
I really like it. Keep the front end as is. I love the contrast of the chrome lights and emblem. A couple of items I would have done (just my personal taste): - kept the emblem chrome on the rear door - very light tint on rear lights and reflector strip. - I like black wheels, but with some accent chrome of some kind like the inner walls of the spokes.. your wheel style doesn't lend themselves to that though. These are just things I thought of after spending time examining the photos. If I saw your ride on the street, I would have never noticed or thought about any of this and just that it looked SICK! :-)

Help with TRS HID wire harness
kc300c replied to c_bova's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Dingo, good idea. Any details on the size and a source to get them (Radio Shack, auto parts store)? Bova, I didn't think about the long lead-time. Not going to wait a month for one. May just buy another brand ballast off ebay if Dingo's capacitor doesnt work.
