Haz, thanks for the detailed response. I had ordered the manuals, they are on the way. It appears that the seal is only deteriorating at the front, so just replacing the front part might be possible. Hope that will work.

Just ordered those manuals, thanks for the tip. Thanks again for helping me, looking forward to watching that video.

enigma-2 Thanks for the detailed info. Actually, I'm talking about the rubber seal between the front and the rear glass. I'm not sure which it is on that diagram. And no, that rejuvenator likely won't work, there are large pieces of rubber that can be pulled off.

Perhaps some people have been thrown off by my erroneously calling the sunroof the wrong name (skylights), my bad, sorry. I found a diagram of all the pieces that go into the sunroof but there are so many that I am sort of confused which ones I need to order. I'll attach that image, maybe someone can point me into the right direction? Thanks a lot. Ed

Looks like nobody knows anything about my problem, pity!

Hi, I'm just doing some spring cleaning/detailing on my 2009 Edge LTD and I noticed that the gasket(s) around and between the 2 skylights seems to be disintegrating. Are those 2 separate gaskets or is it one gasket for both? Is there a post somewhere that would describe where to order and how to replace those gaskets? I need to replace them before the Texas Spring storms pop up but have never done it before but and I've no idea how to go at it. Can anyone post some advice/ideas? Thanks, Ed

Power lift gate does not open all the way
edgemaster replied to edgemaster's topic in Exterior & Body
Well, the problem has been solved a while ago by installing new struts. However, those new struts started another annoyance, when the liftgate goes down it rattles to the point that the entire car shakes. -
Wow, everybody on vacation, or what?
-
Hi, I recently replaced the automatic liftgate struts on my 2009 LTD and now the liftgate rattles every time it goes down, to the extend that the whole car shakes. Is there something to adjust or to lubricate?
-
Thanks, found it at the local ACE hardware store.

Guys, the rear bumper protector (stainless steel) comes loose. Can anyone recommend decent glue or some sticky stuff that will last a while? Thanks, Ed

One more piece of information: when I back up and the squealing starts I slightly hit the parking brake until I feel some breaking but the squealing doesn't change. So, seems the parking brake is not the cause, right?
-
Didn't take photos cause everything looked normal to me. No separate pads, just the same c-shaped thingies as in the video. I don't know what exactly is squealing, hence my posting this in the first place. Sorry to be a nuisance.
-
OK guys, current status: I checked the parking brake pads and the piston movements. The pads look almost like new, no difference in thickness to new ones. The pistons in the calipers move nicely, everything seems to be in ship-shape. So I closed everything again. The squeal is still there, louder than ever!

Thanks, nice video but it does not address a 2009 Edge parking brake removal!
-
Guys, I've just removed the rear disc/drum to replace the parking brake shoes but I don't have the foggiest idea how. I've searched the internet but can't find a youtube which explains the details. Can't figure out how that C-shaped one-piece is attached to the back plate. Can someone point me to a video that shows that? Thanks!
-
I think you're right, I'll have to open everything up.
-
No, the rotors and anything inside the parking brake drums were never removed. I'll have to check what's going inside those drums.
-
But is it at all necessary to replace the parking brake shoes? They can't be worn thin from parking, right? Those pistons, there's no brake fluid involved, right?
-
I don't understand what the thickness of the discs has to do with the parking brakes.
-
No e brake, just old-fashioned wires!

Looks like nobody seems to have an opinion! Pity!

Guys, just replaced my rear brake pads on my 2009 Edge. Everything works fine except when I back up the left rear wheel squeals awfully. I jacked both rear wheels up and checked the parking brake. Seems to work fine, relaxed or fully engaged. However, when the parking brake is only about half engaged, I can turn the right wheel forward and backward with some drag. The left wheel can only be rotated forward with some drag but not at all backwards. Time to replace the parking brake hardware?

Yes, the paint is damaged.

Bad choice of words, you are right, of course. Thanks for the tip.
