Battery Saver, Check Charging System
fishx65 replied to Shane Bogart's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I just started getting these messages today but it's been really cold and my 2011 Edge doesn't get driven much right now. Just got a new battery last month but haven't taken the time to give it a full charge yet. I'm pretty sure I've had a parasitic drain problem for a long time but have been able to live with it so far. -
I undercoat and rustproof all my vehicles. I only rustproof once but do touch up the undercoating every fall. 3M is the rustproofing spray I use and pretty much any rubberized undercoating will work if ya put it on thin.

If ya have a 58/59 series battery in yours, try to get them to upgrade it to a 65 series. The 65 is quite a bit bigger and will fit in the battery tray just fine.
-
It really looks like you purchased a bad battery which can happen. I'd run back and have them replace it. Not saying you don't have a parasitic battery drain problem just a bad battery. My 2011 SEL definitely has a parasitic drain issue but it usually never sits long enough to be a problem.

10.6 volts is way to low!!! Your new battery is toast or it's not getting charged. Resting voltage is 12.5 to 12.7 volts on a good battery.

Gonna be interesting to see what they did with the body. I prefer the front end of the 2011-2014 and the back end of the 2015-present.

Fake (synthetic) in-cabin engine noise in G2 Edge Sport
fishx65 replied to Xtra's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Is this actually true??? Maybe all those guys who like super loud exhaust systems on their vehicles can now keep it to themselves in the cabin!!!:) -
The money you spend on all that 303 probably offsets any savings in tire longevity!!!!:) I no longer use 303 on my tires but still use it for interior detailing. Another fantastic product from 303 is their Fabric Guard. It's a great product that lasts well over a year on seating surfaces and puts Scotch Guard to shame.

2011-2014 Parasitic battery drain
fishx65 replied to fishx65's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Battery was a group 59 Advance Auto Autocraft and was actually coming up on it's 3rd birthday. Took it in this morning and they swapped it out under warranty. Nice thing is they upgraded me to a group 65 850 CCA. Gotta like 3 year free replacement!!:) The positive battery clamp did fit nice and snug on this new battery. -
Better bulbs for Edge 2007?
fishx65 replied to edgemaster's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Funny, I just inherited a 2008 Taurus with 55,000 miles and did the H11 to H9 mod less then a month ago. Not a bad winter beater but it always feels good to get in my 11 Edge after driving the Taurus for a few days. One nice thing about the Bull is you could run over a dead body and wouldn't even know it (Very smooth!). -
Better bulbs for Edge 2007?
fishx65 replied to edgemaster's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Can't remember if my 2010's low beams were H11's or 9006's but ya get a significant bump in lumens by easily converting to H9's or 9005's. Wiring can handle the extra power with no problems. Conversion is just a little plastic tab trimming. -
Might be showing my age but I've always liked the way bug deflectors look. Never put one on my 2011 and the front part of the hood has stayed chip free. The grill is another story along with a few cracks on the lower windshield which may have been prevented with a bug deflector.

I just inherited a 2008 Taurus with 55,000 miles that needs these sensors replaced. Doesn't sound like a fun job at all!!!! It's only gone into limp mode once but has a pretty regular stutter under load when cruising down the highway. Kinda feels like I run over a Possum once in a while:). I'm assuming it's gonna get worse???

2011-2014 Parasitic battery drain
fishx65 replied to fishx65's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Thanks for the numbers boys!!!! Not really sure why mines not clamping down tight enough. It's really clean and has only been disconnected a few times. I'll get a better look at it in a few days but will probably just order a new one. -
2011-2014 Parasitic battery drain
fishx65 replied to fishx65's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Took the battery out today to clean it up and put a nice charge on it. Went to install it and noticed that the positive cable is not getting tight enough even if I crank the bolt down. Some kinda crazy wedge design that seems to be working but just not getting tight enough. Any suggestions????? -

Battery just had it's 2 year birthday and is in good shape. I went through this a few years ago when I didn't drive it much for a 9 month period. I just got in the habit of pulling a cable if it was gonna sit for over 5 days. -
Anyone else have their dash screen not turn off sometimes? Once in a while I'll notice it and jump back in to cycle the key which does turn it off. I've been driving a second vehicle lately and noticed the Edge's battery dies if it sits for a week or so. Not sure if it's the dash screen draining the battery cuz I don't always check it. I'm thinkin about just installing a battery switch under the hood.

Pretty sweet she fired up for ya!!!! You deserve a big "Datta-Boy cuz not many would give it a go these days. I built and installed two motors many moons ago and still feel the satisfaction to this day. Put a built 460 Police Interceptor in a black 1977 T-Bird. Bout 5 miles per gallon but pretty quick for a huge hunk of metal.

I can tell you not to get the Yokohama YK 580's. A little on the noisy side and not wearing that well.

I've got a 2008 Taurus that's just starting to show signs of this at 55,000 miles. Went into limp mode about 150 miles from home last week. I just disconnected the battery for a few minutes and it got me home and has been fine for about a week so far. I sometimes feel a slight trans stutter at a steady speed between 60 and 80 mph. I'm gonna wait til it happens again before making a move. I should add that this happened right after I did the first 5 quart drain and refill of the trans but the high speed stutter was already happening before that.

Do all 2011's have this problem or did some come with the updated valve cover?? I've never had any oil on the air filter but she does guzzle some extra oil between changes. I'll pull the intake tube when I get a chance and check for oil.

If bow hunting season wasn't coming up in a few weeks I'd give it try. Do they make it in an acorn or apple scent?:) -
Which fuse for switchable power? 2013 Ford edge
fishx65 replied to Jesse Pokora's topic in Accessories & Modifications
My 2011 SEL did not come with Bluetooth so I run a Kinivo BT which uses a power point and the 3.5mm auxiliary jack in the center consul. I need the Kinivo to power off with the accessory delay so my phone doesn't stay paired when I leave the vehicle. I've already rewired the center consul power point to go off and on with the ignition but would love it to function with accessory delay so I could carry on conversations when I turn off the vehicle. -
Which fuse for switchable power? 2013 Ford edge

Has anyone ever found a fuse that works with the Accessory Delay???????? I'm using a device that I would like to keep powered with the vehicle turned off until I open a door. -
Daytime Running Lights (DLR)
fishx65 replied to snmjim's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Auto manufacturers have been trying to out LED each other for a few years now. I do think they make vehicles easier to see but it would be nice if we had a choice to run them or not. Should be pretty easy to disconnect them or even add a switch.
