If it was anti-theft the engine would not be turning over.

They couldn't duplicate the liftgate closing on an object and not reversing? -

Everyone has the sensor issues including my 2016 MKX. If they can't fix the liftgate issue take it to another dealer. -
I don't know of any mfr offering free map updates right now. This is certainly a first for Ford. I guess they realize they need to compete with mobile devices with free map updates.

If it cranks but doesn't run then it could be out of gas (or very low and parked on a hill), bad gas (did she just fill up?), fuel pump, throttle body, PCM, crankshaft position sensor, etc. etc.

5 years of free updates!

Unless you know the battery was recently replace, just get a new one. Some testers don’t work and a lot of bad batteries test ok.

Just get a solar BA-7 tester and a C-Tek charger.

Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?
akirby replied to ben senise's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Never said it was mandated. I said it was being proposed as a federal requirement and Ford decided to get ahead of it and as a liability CYA. -
Obviously your battery is dead.

Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?

In most cases yes, but not in the case where an elderly person leaves the car running in the garage accidentally. They probably wouldn't hear the honk. Notice I'm not against the idea - just pointing out that it doesn't solve the major issue that Ford is worried about which is liability. -

Don't forget this was tied to a pending federal mandate to honk the horn when leaving a running vehicle without the key. That was based on deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning for folks who left the vehicle running in the garage, especially hybrids that may not be running when you stop but could start running as the battery drains. The mandate never happened but Ford was being proactive and to avoid potential lawsuit liability. Blame the lawyers as much as anything on this one. -

If you're the only one who drives it then sure. But for folks with other drivers it can be very easy for the person with the only key to be dropped off. If the driver doesn't notice the warning message they could be stranded. Just a couple of weeks ago my wife and I stopped to eat lunch. On the way home we stopped to get our daughter something different. The drive-thru line was long so I got out to go inside. The double honk alerted my wife to the fact that she did not have her fob which made her realize she had left her purse at the previous restaurant. We were able to go back and get it. Otherwise we would have driven all the way home first. -
Exhaust Question - Flex pipe repaired; Check Engine light comes on
akirby replied to bloated liver's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
The O2 sensors are in the exhaust just before and after the catalytic converter. You definitely need to get the codes read to see where to start. -
What changes would you like to see for the 2018 Edge?

USB Device - safe to leave plugged in all the time?
akirby replied to revitus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If it's not playing it shouldn't be drawing much power so leaving it on for a few minutes until the usb power times out shouldn't be a huge issue. -

Could be a messed up O2 sensor either from the repair or the water itself. How deep was it? -
Replace the fans with OEM parts. There is a good write up that should be pinned. If not use the search function.

No it won’t stay in 1st gear. When you put it in S it’s still in automatic mode until you hit the paddles. It just shifts later and keeps RPM higher for better response.

Battery for keyhead transmitter

Is that a trick question? -
Put the shifter in “S” but don’t use the paddles.
