  1. No more than other vehicles. Glass is glass and air pressure is air pressure and rocks are rocks.
  2. There is a short section of road with a patch that is grooved near our house, and all of our vehicles tram line badly on it. To the point my wife drives over in the other lane if possible to avoid it. It’s a combination of the tires and the surface.
  3. And a flashing brake light on the semi would not have made any difference.
  4. If the battery is more than 3 years old, replace it. Then get a Solar BA-7 tester. Just think of how many battery sales they're giving up by not having the proper test equipment (or not knowing how to use it).
  5. So they fixed it so you don’t have to remove the glove box which is great. But why they left the 2 screws I don’t know. Plastic tabs work just fine.
  6. Temps are monitored by the PCM. I don't think it would turn it off it was too hot.
  7. No, it wasn't deliberate. I think they just inherited that from the EUCD platform that CD4 was based on and didn't have time to re-engineer it. Remember your 09 was on the old CD3 platform. I assume you can change the gen 2s by just popping out the glovebox like the older ones?
  8. I think you have to replace the filler neck.
  9. Because that's not what recalls are for. Recalls are for serious safety issues. You can replace the shifter mechanism (not too difficult for a DIYer) or you can just replace the microswitch within the shifter.
  10. I just replaced my 2013 Fusion cabin air filter. OMG was it filthy and filled with leaves. I meant to change it years ago but just forgot about it. It's a complete pain to get to though. You have to pop off the side trim and the trim above the dash with the hvac vent. Then you have to remove 4 bolts to remove the glove box. Then there are 2 more phillips screws on the filter door. Not sure if the Gen II Edge and MKX are the same or if they got smarter and put it back the way it used to be where you just disconnected the back of the glove box.
  11. It was either wind (most likely) or possibly tramlining - following grooves in the road.
  12. That's correct - it was just an example of how the rules get enforced. Also why things that don't meet the standard have to be sold as "off road only".
  13. That is exactly why because High + Low beams = 4 lamps. Fog lights would make it 6.
  14. State DOTs can't override the Federal regulations. They can go beyond the federal regulations - making them more stringent but they can't choose to ignore a FMVSS regulation. E.g. FMVSS states you can only have 4 lamps illuminated on the front of the vehicle at one time. States cannot change that to allow 6.
  15. Nobody said you’d get a ticket for it, just that it’s technically illegal and mostly annoying. DOT is 20 years behind (or more). But this isn’t necessarily one of those things that need to be fixed.
  16. I don't get that at all with my 2.0EB Fusion. I do have different tires.
  17. The way I describe it is the Ecoboosts have a much wider range than a NA engine. Whereas the NA 3.5L might see 17-20 in city driving depending on how it's driven, the Ecoboost might be 15-22. It has the potential to be better but also the potential to be worse. I've found that you really have to do a lot of coasting and taking your foot completely off the pedal for max mpg. Short trips seem to be worse on the EBs as well.
  18. My thoughts on this are the same as DRLs. If someone is looking, they'll see the vehicle or the standard brake lights just fine. I think most accidents are caused by people not looking at all in which case these or DRLs won't help. That said the US lighting regulations are as old and outdated as disco and bell bottom jeans.
  19. Definitely illegal due to federal regulations and therefore not available from the factory on any vehicle. Mercedes got permission to test them on a few vehicles a few years ago but that was it.
  20. Most are not compatible. They vary by platform. For the 2011 Edge a 2011-2012 Fusion fob might work but you'd have to do what vega says to be safe.
  21. You get torque steer from the 2.0L Ecoboost at less than WOT?
  22. Had similar issues with my 06 Fusion which is the same platform. Try popping the obd-II port out of the dash so you get more room for the connector. Also check to see if any of the wires in the port have backed out. That was one of my problems. The other one is a blown fuse not sending power to the connector.
