Upgrade from 1 1/4 to 2" Receiver
akirby replied to pintokid's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Convert the balls to 2” and use the adapter if you already have a bike rack of something else that requires 1 1/4”. -
Changing perfectly good oil at 3K miles (especially full synthetic) is just wasteful in most cases. If you’re really worried about it do an oil test every 1000 miles and that will tell you when it needs to be changed. My guess is you can go at least 7500 miles.

How to disable horn warning?
akirby replied to mardyn's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
You don’t have to leave it wide open - just don’t let it latch. That only leaves it open about an inch. If you want to shut the door all the way just turn off the engine. Since you don’t have to take the key out of your pocket or remove it and reinsert it that’s not really a big deal. I agree that a chirp would be nicer but it’s not that big of a deal. -
Sorry, I wasn’t suggesting it was ok to buy a flooded salvage vehicle. I would never recommend that. I was just pointing out the process for registering a salvaged vehicle.
-
Check the title with the state to be safe. If it's a salvage you won't be able to register it until you have it inspected and deemed roadworthy.

Tip : when you're viewing a topic it shows you the location below the google ads and above the green bar about the Ford Edge Registry.

It's not just a thread - the forum that contains the thread already exists: Ford Edge Lincoln MKX Modification and Technical Discussion -> Accessories & Modifications. You can post all the topics you want and put a link to the topic in the pinned post I referenced earlier.

In addition to just being an asshole and illegal, it's downright dangerous. I think we're done here.

Why in the hell would you want a train horn?
-
I see them on the parts diagram. They are listed as surround speakers so maybe it's not the right combination of settings and source material.
-
Are you sure they're factory? I wasn't aware of any cargo area speakers other than the subwoofer.

SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available
akirby replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
2.2 enabled apple carplay and android auto. The rest is mostly bug fixes. -
That's why you have to read the warranty fine print. Especially a 3rd party warranty.

Rattle coming from the center of dashboard...
akirby replied to WingNut's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Did they replace the shifter? -
It already has a cover to keep out dust and debris - it's called the filler door. If you're getting dirt and debris in there then maybe your gasket isn't working.
-
That's what I was thinking. I've never seen any dirt in any of my vehicles.
-
I remember now. Thanks.

SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available

Make sure the radio doesn’t shut off before the update is finished. It’s safer to just run the engine - should only take about 20 minutes. -
Hacking the Edge's keyless entry fob
akirby replied to rreid66's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
No. Your key has to be close to the door and on the same side of the vehicle so they can’t unlock the passenger side. The relay hacking is theoretically possible but logistically very difficult. They have to get very close to your fob and know which vehicle is yours and have the sophisticated electronics. Highly unlikely. -
SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available
akirby replied to jmr061's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
No VHR with sync 3. It doesn’t have anything to do with adaptive cruise either. You don’t have to keep the engine running. That’s just a precaution in case you have a weak battery. -
SYNC3 V2.3 Official Release is Available

It may store temporary data on the drive also but 32 does seem like overkill. -
Interesting. I didn't realize they changed from 1 to 2. That makes it even more puzzling why the seatback doesn't cool better.

The map updates will probably be via USB as well but they haven't announced or released anything on it yet. -
Ford has sold millions of vehicles with that throttle body. If it was widespread there would be tens or hundreds of thousands of failures. I think it's safe to say the failure rate is pretty low - probably in the 1% - 2% range - but that still adds up to a lot of individual vehicles.
