On older Ford vehicles the culprit was often uneven lug nut torque. Are you using a torque wrench when putting the wheels back on? If the rotor is warped is it one or both? That would narrow it down. If it's only one maybe the piston is bad and it only shows up after the pads wear down a bit and the piston extends.

If you rear end a stopped tractor trailer then you obviously weren’t even looking at the road ahead so a flashing brake light would not have helped. If you can’t discuss something without name calling then don’t bother posting. -

So why not just stop at "I hate flappy paddles" and leave it at that. Other people like them and don't have a problem using them.

Your dealer didn't try to sell you an extended warranty? That would be extremely rare. Most people purchase them with the vehicle so they can finance them. The dealers really push them. The benefits don't kick in until after the factory warranty except the rental car provision. It's $100 cheaper to purchase them up front than to wait for the factory warranty to expire. -

The Ford warranty does not provide rental cars. The Ford ESP (extended) warranty does provide free loaners during the entire warranty period. Lincoln vehicles provide loaners (and free dropoff/pickup) as part of the standard warranty. Seat heating/cooling does qualify but not as something that could cause death or injury so you'd have to give them 3 attempts to fix it or let them have it for 30 days. -
I'm NOT talking about everyday driving - I've already said there is no benefit to using the paddles in everyday driving except to occasionally force a downshift or hold a gear. If you're only using it occasionally it doesn't matter where they put the controls. I'm talking about high performance driving and it is possible to keep your hands at 9 and 3 the whole time. I've done it on a racetrack with 90 degree + turns. It's not that difficult. I didn't actually use the paddles but I could have if necessary because my hands never had to move. There is no point continuing to argue - if you prefer the console shifter that's great. Others prefer the paddles. On the street it really doesn't matter.

Is it true that it only does the wi-fi downloads while the vehicle is running? If so that would explain why it would take so long. You only have a couple of minutes when the engine is running and you're in range of your home wi-fi in most cases. Seems like it should be doing at least some downloading while the engine is off even if it's only 15 minutes or so at a time. -

Well of course they should have all the bugs worked out. The seat cooling should work. PTUs shouldn't be failing. Water pumps shouldn't be taking out an entire engine. Oil pans shouldn't be leaking. I think what we're seeing with sync 3 is the direct result of Mark Fields incessant cost cutting and it's going to take a year or two to get back to normal. It's a shame because sync 3 is a great product IMO. At least it's been stable unlike the MFT launch in 2010. -
Perhaps you misunderstand what it means to have the paddles attached to the wheel. The paddles are at the 3 and 9 o'clock position all the time. You hands are at 3 and 9 or 2 and 10 and your hands always have access to the paddles no matter how far you turn right or left. That's why you can always find the paddle to shift - you don't have to hunt for it or look for it - it's right there. Unless you're saying that you don't keep your hands at 3 and 9 and you move them around on the wheel while you're driving. But that's not recommended. You keep your hands in the same place with access to the paddles. And if you insist on claiming that one hand on the wheel is just as good and safe as two hands then we can just stop the discussion now because you're being irrational.

BTW - it's ok if you prefer a console shifter over paddle shifters. You don't have to justify it.

I actually have driven a ferrari 458 (and a porsche 911 GT3 and an Audi A8) on a real racetrack and I have video to prove it. I was using the game controls to illustrate why it's perfectly fine to have the paddles attached to the wheel and that you can easily shift even if the wheel is turned 180 degrees. I've aldo driven cars with stick shifts, cars with electronic shifting on the console and cars with paddle shifters. First you said that paddles are attached to the column and therefore unsuitable except for cars where the wheel doesn't turn much. That was completely incorrect. They are attached to the wheel. Why did older race cars (and some current ones) use a console shifter? Because they were using a mechanical shift linkage. You can't use paddle shifters to shift a mechanical transmission. With the move to electronically controlled transmissions came paddle shifters. It is inherently safer to keep both hands on the wheel than it is to take one hand off the wheel every time you need to shift. Insisting otherwise is silly.

Are paddles on a daily driver a marketing ploy? Somewhat. But that doesn't mean they aren't occasionally useful for downshifting before you get on the gas to make a pass or to hold a lower gear while going downhill or to hold a higher gear and prevent downshifts. They are not a substitute for a true manual transmission. They just give you complete control over gear selection for the rare occasions you need it. Even on high performance vehicles such as the porsche 911 GT3 or Ferrari 458/488 the dual clutch autos are so good in auto mode that you don't even have to use the paddles. They downshift while braking and keep the car in the perfect gear 95% of the time.

Doug Demuro is a writer, not a racer. And he's completely wrong. Because the paddles stay with the wheel, upshifts are always via your right hand and downshifts via your left hand (or vice versa) regardless of position. You don't forget which one is which just because the wheel is turned. I've experienced this myself on Gran Turismo with a logitech racing wheel. Just look at all the major racing series - IndyCar, Formula 1, LeMans prototypes, etc. etc. - they all have the paddles attached to the wheel as one unit.

Maybe you should get your facts straight before making dumb statements. The paddles are attached to the wheel, not the column so they move with the wheel and your hands.

Because they haven't worked out all the bugs and details on the wi-fi updates. Something that sounds good on paper doesn't always work out that way once it's in production. Also on the 3.0 being available from the factory but not for updates is normal. On the assembly line there is only one configuration (latest apim and other components) that has to be tested while updates to older vehicles may need to be tested with multiple older components and firmware versions. -

Convert the balls to 2” and use the adapter if you already have a bike rack of something else that requires 1 1/4”. -
Changing perfectly good oil at 3K miles (especially full synthetic) is just wasteful in most cases. If you’re really worried about it do an oil test every 1000 miles and that will tell you when it needs to be changed. My guess is you can go at least 7500 miles.

You don’t have to leave it wide open - just don’t let it latch. That only leaves it open about an inch. If you want to shut the door all the way just turn off the engine. Since you don’t have to take the key out of your pocket or remove it and reinsert it that’s not really a big deal. I agree that a chirp would be nicer but it’s not that big of a deal. -
Sorry, I wasn’t suggesting it was ok to buy a flooded salvage vehicle. I would never recommend that. I was just pointing out the process for registering a salvaged vehicle.
