  1. Please don't post entire articles - links and excerpts only unless they're official Ford press releases.
  2. I think somebody reported needing to use a different procedure but I don't remember the details or where I saw it. Try doing a forum search here and/or google for alternate programming methods (even if it's from a different model).
  3. Not sure but I would guess around $300 give or take. Call one and ask them.
  4. Ridiculous. The diagnostic would tell them what to replace. They can see it's broken in 2 seconds. Can you try another dealer?
  5. If you have the $1500 now but may not be able to pay for a large repair later then it makes sense. If you can cover a large repair then it comes down to whether you want to gamble on this specific vehicle or not. On one vehicle it's always a gamble. Over the long term on multiple vehicles the odds are in your favor to self-insure.
  6. You really need another professional opinion if you have any hope of fighting Ford on it. A glass shop should be able to tell you if it's a stress crack or not. You could also try another dealer but be up front about the situation. Ford goes by what the dealer says so sometimes you can get a different answer with a different dealer.
  7. I think the only major item that the premiumcare ESP doesn't cover is the Vista roof if you have that (or BAMR as the engineers call it - Big Ass Moon Roof). If you're paying cash for the warranty why not keep that money in your pocket and save it for future repairs?
  8. Remote start can usually be added by the dealer.
  9. I don't think a stress crack would have a piece that flaked off. You could always get a second opinion from a glass shop but it's usually cut and dried as to whether there is an external impact or not.
  10. Understood, but a lot of people automatically equate anything the dealer does or doesn't do with Ford and that's simply not the case. And it sounded like most of the issues were on the dealer side.
  11. 10+ years should be no problem. There are some complaints about the injector ticking noise (only outside the car not inside), carbon buildup on the back of the valves and some delays in the transmission downshifting. I have the same engine in my Fusion with no issues. You'd really have to drive it yourself to see if you like the performance. You can buy the warranty from any dealer including online any time before the factory bumper to bumper warranty expires.
  12. Get rid of any potential food sources especially bird seed, etc. Traps. Poison Cats
  13. That's definitely not right. Worst case it should retain the temp from the previous evening. Probably an easy fix.
  14. It's really hard to get to. I disconnect the positive terminal but I'm really careful not to let it touch anything.
  15. FTFY Let's be careful to separate dealer issues from corporate issues.
  16. Honestly I don't remember, but it was pretty close to the minimum.
  17. Yes, Fahrenheit. It's just too cold for me to feel comfortable running summers year round. They're also significantly more expensive than the Verdes. I just wish I could get more than 25K out of tires. The only vehicle that got more than that was the 08 Edge with 18" Michelin Latitudes. Even then it was only 35K or so. Must be the roads and temps around here - we certainly don't drive that aggressively.
  18. Because it was 8 degrees last week and regularly gets down into the teens and sometimes single digits in Atlanta. And I don't want to change tires or store an extra set of wheels and tires.
  19. Not worth buying extra wheels and tires and storing them or swapping twice a year (to me). We also don't drive in snow or ice in Atlanta. I can live with the Verdes. I found a good price at Discount Tire ($211 each) which is cheaper than Tirerack.com after you factor in shipping costs. Trying to get Kauffman to match it.
  20. Has anyone found a good alternative to the OEM 265/40/21 Pirelli Scorpion Verde? They were great the first 10K miles but got a little noisy after that and now they're really noisy at 23K. But I can't find any decent alternatives. I'm not a fan of off brands - would prefer to stick to Michelin/Continental/BFG, etc. but I don't think that's going to be possible. If not I'll just get another set of the Verdes.
  21. If you're happy stop asking questions and just enjoy it!
