  1. It does mean ZERO fuel for short periods. The wheels and transmission keep the engine turning over until fuel is added again. If the engine couldn’t turn over without combustion you wouldn’t be able to push start a manual transmission vehicle.
  2. Sync 3 has been rated higher than Uconnect in the reviews I’ve read. Sync 3 is fast and easier to navigate than MFT. The only issue I’ve had is the nav volume comes on too high even after you turn it down but that might have already been corrected.
  3. Most Ford engines do cut fuel while coasting - it’s called DFSO - Deceleration Fuel Shut Off. Not sure if it cuts all fuel to all cylinders at the same time but you can see this by watching the instant mpg when you take your foot off the gas completely.
  4. Pretty sure he was talking about adding it to the vehicle he already bought. The order guide spells out exactly what can be added as options on a factory order.
  5. Doubtful, but if you search online you can find the powertrain warranty details and list of covered components.
  6. There are enough people out there that want the goodies even if they don't fully use them and more importantly, they're willing to pay a premium to get them. In the end, it's all about being able to charge more and make more profit.
  7. Doubtful. Almost nothing is plug and play these days.
  8. It wasn’t just your comparison - reviewers and magazines do it all the time and have for years. They would compare a Lincoln MKZ with a BMW 3 series because they’re the same price. Which is silly. Compare the same size and type of vehicles and note the relative price or performance differences.
  9. Pretty sure the hardware comes from Japan not China and only the operating system comes from Blackberry. Ford supplies the sync 3 software. The Chinese version of the software is probably different and on its own development cycle.
  10. This. If that actually starts your car then you’re stuck with the honks because that’s Ford’s way of letting you know you’ve locked the vehicle. Clever design by the aftermarket remote start because it uses the OEM remote, but the side effect is the double honk. No way around that unless you change it for the factory remote start.
  11. Opposite - use S most of the time when towing (in automatic mode). Only use D at speed on a relatively flat road. At least that’s what I do. Granted, I’ve only pulled a small utility trailer.
  12. Ended up getting a replacement set of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Seasons 265/40/21 for $1K out the door including free replacements no questions asked from Discount Tire. The noise is gone! Not sure if one slipped a belt or if they just get loud after 20K miles. Worst case I’ll just buy a new set every 2 years.
  13. I don’t understand why people continue to do that. They always compare smaller competitors whether it’s a price comparison or performance. You really need to compare the same size vehicles.
  14. I never understood turning the radio off completely. I would go nuts.
  15. No map updates are included - just the software. They haven’t updated sync 3 maps since it launched. Nobody knows why or when they’ll release new maps.
  16. The USB download works intermittently but you can usually get it to work with a few tries over a couple of days. Very frustrating.
  17. That's what I assumed - BCM = Body Control Module.
  18. Only the HID lights get separate fuses in the power distribution box under the hood. Halogens are run out of the smart junction box which probably uses one of the generic fuses (BCM, PCM, etc.). No dedicated fuses for the halogens that I could see.
  19. There is no Ford-GM transmission plant. They only cooperated on the initial design - each company manufactures their own version of each. In fact Ford decided to go with a 8 speed FWD tranny while GM stayed with the 9 speed. Same for the older 6F trannies and the new 10 speed RWD tranny. There are a lot of differences and they are manufactured separately. Ford used Aisins in some of the Fusion and Five Hundred and associated Lincoln/Mercury models but they also used Mazdas and the jointly developed 6F. GM has supplied transmissions to BMW in the past - for the old 7 series I believe. Their version of the 6F had similar issues as Ford's version and I think their 9 speed FWD has also had some early issues. I think the 10 speed has been good for both mfrs.
  20. Maybe instead of changing fluid he just changes transmissions every 100K miles. It is a Chevy after all..... (Im joking here. GM actually makes some of the better transmissions)
