  1. F150 owners are reporting the map updates are now available for purchase from the dealer.
  2. The newest x3 is a lot closer to Edge in size than the previous generation. Even so the Edge is still 3 inches longer, 2 inches wider and 2.5 inches taller.
  3. Sync 3 1.x and 2.x probably only supported the old map format. Sync 3 3.x would have to support both the old and new map formats to allow owners to do the upgrade.
  4. I guess you missed this one: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/24067-official-release-of-v30-for-sync3-has-begun/
  5. It’s a liability issue, nothing more. Also, Ford believes the factory fluid is good for 100K+ miles if it never overheats, which is probably true. And once the fluid does overheat, it’s toast, even if you just changed it last week. Regular fluid changes are all you can really do but it’s still a crap shoot as to whether you caught it in time.
  6. He just said that’s one reason they make the recommendation. And dealership technicians don’t work for Ford.
  7. The point was they appear to be the new map supplier for sync 3. It's possible they need Sync 3 to be able to perform the map updates and sync 3 is just now rolling out.
  8. And it needs to be a modern tester like a Solar BA-7 that tests cranking amps. The old style load testers don’t really work.
  9. It’s NNG software. https://ford.welcome.naviextras.com
  10. I’m not defending Ford’s decision not to offer updates for the last 3 years and to use outdated maps on new vehicles. That’s obviously cost cutting mandated by Mark Fields.
  11. I don’t work for Ford and this isn’t a Ford issue. When you buy a product - any product - it comes with certain features. You only get a 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty. You want more you have to pay for an extended warranty, even on a $100K super duty or Expedition. Ford has never offered or hinted at free map updates for the US. You were never promised free map updates. What they do in other countries is meaningless because the pricing is completely different. Could they offer free map updates? Of course. Should they? Probably. I’m not arguing all that. What I’m saying is that Ford - for whatever reason - chose not to include those updates and those updates do cost Ford money with the map supplier. The argument that you already paid for it isn’t true. That’s like saying my Edge didn’t come with 22” wheels but since I paid $40K i think they should throw those in for free now. My Lincoln MKX gets free oil changes but your Edge doesn’t. It also gets a longer warranty. Why? Because it’s built into the price of the MKX but not the Edge. Just because maps are digital that doesn’t change the equation.
  12. It used to come with an auxiliary cooler but I think I read that the new ones may have that standard now. Do a search I’m pretty sure it’s been discussed before.
  13. Is your google broken? There Ain’t No Such Think As A Free Lunch. Ford has to pay for map updates. Therefore the customer has to pay for map updates, one way or the other. If Ford provides them for free then they calculated that cost into the cost of the vehicle or the cost of the navigation or both. In other words, if Ford offered free map updates in the US then either the vehicle cost would go up or the Navigation would cost more than $800. It’s like going to two furniture stores - one offers free delivery and the other charges $50. The one that offers free delivery will charge you more for the furniture to pay for the delivery costs. Either way YOU pay for it.
  14. TANSTAAFL. The cost of those “free” map updates is built into the cost of the vehicle up front. Map updates have never been free on any vehicle I know in the US - certainly not on Fords. I would prefer to see a subscription where you pay $75 a year and you get automatic free updates every year with the latest maps. But even that may not be feasible with CP and AA and Waze applink.
  15. You don’t want LED bulbs. They won’t work correctly. The entire headlamp assembly needs to be designed as a LED unit.
  16. But what about passenger room? I think the Edge is closer to X5 than X3 but I haven’t looked them up to see.
  17. A stuck starter would only turn over the engine - it still needs spark and fuel to run or at least fuel if the engine is hot and dieseling.
  18. Huh? It was ONE PART that was defective in the steering wheel. Edge and MKX obviously use a different part.
  19. Never had a Michelin tire I didn’t like. Never liked paying for them, but in this case you get what you pay for.
  20. Cherokee or Grand Cherokee?
  21. That's likely. The 3.0 seems to be replacing the 3.5EB except for F150, Expy and Navi. But they could certainly use the 3.5EB if they wanted to.
  22. It should fit but it will be about 1 inch taller and 3 inches longer in circumference which is about a 4% difference.
  23. The new Explorer/Aviator will be capable of using the same drivetrains as the F150 and Mustang, so I guess we'll see how far they're willing to go on performance.
