Adding hitch to 2017 Titanium w/o tow package
akirby replied to Further North's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Not the frontal area of what you’re towing, the frontal area of the vehicle that’s available to feed the cooling system. Reference the grille reinforcement that Omar posted. -

Well there you go. Frontal area for cooling, radiator and fans (at least). -

They would not lower the rating from 2000 lbs to 1500 without a good reason. Unless you can figure out that reason, you’re taking a big risk. -

You missed the point. If the non tow pkg 2.0L is rated lower than the non tow pkg 3.5L or 2.7L then you have to ask why. It’s probably not the engine but it could be the transmission. Perhaps they use the 6F50 with the 2.0L tow package? I don’t know that for sure just giving an example. Typically they add oil and tranny coolers but I haven’t seen anything specific for the 2017 2.0L. -

The normal base tow rating on the Edge 3.5 has always been 2K lbs. The fact that they lowered it to 1500 with the 2.0L would be a big concern. You’re almost double the recommended weight. I wouldn’t do it. -

Adding the hitch doesn’t change the tow rating. It’s usually the transmission cooler that’s the biggest difference but other components are usually beefed up as well with the factory tow package. How much weight are you talking about? -
I’m not touching that one........

2013 Edge Limited SMOOTHEST riding tire recommendations in 2018?
akirby replied to enigmakv's topic in Wheels & Tires
Never had a noise problem on any Michelins that I can remember. I did have noise on the OEM Pirelli Scorpions but I think that was a slipped belt on one tire at 23K miles. -
That’s basically the same as pulling the battery cable since that pulls power to the APIM. Sometimes it’s just easier to do the battery cable. But if you can get to the fuse try that.

Mine won't even watch the video of me driving a Ferrari or Porsche around a racetrack at moderate (for those cars on a racetrack) speeds with an instructor. She literally thinks that if you go fast in a car it will either explode or fly off the road for no reason. I tried to tell her it was safer driving 100+ mph on a racetrack in those conditions than it was to be in her suv on the highway at 75 mph. She could not comprehend that even after I explained all the other drivers, bad roads, construction, head on collisions, concrete barriers you can hit, etc. etc. The lack of simple logic is maddening.

That was an expensive upgrade but sounds like it may have been worth every penny. My buddy's favorite joke is "Why is divorce so expensive?" Because it's worth it!

There are no Ford ovals or anything else that I can see that would lead someone to believe it was affiliated directly with Ford. The site owner does have permission from Ford to host these forums about Ford vehicles and to use vehicle names for the website names. Ford Service used to have a presence on many internet forums plus Twitter and Facebook. They did help quite a few people here but they stopped doing that a couple of years ago. There was never any Ford affiliation - they had regular member accounts just like anyone else. They did the same thing on multiple Ford enthusiast websites. If you're expecting Ford corporate to actually monitor and respond to anything posted here you're wasting your time. This board is for Edge owners and enthusiasts only.

Yes pulling the cable is a hard reset for everything.

This forum is privately owned and there is no official affiliation with Ford Motor Company (despite what some people try to imply). I'm sure some Ford employees monitor this forum and other Ford specific forums but if they do so it's anonymous. Why exactly do you want to know?

mirror blind spot problemns
akirby replied to Tc4arch's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
THIS ^^^^^^ There is no such thing as a blind spot if you adjust your mirrors correctly, And you should always glance over your shoulder as a backup, with or without BLIS. -
Try it with just a couple of songs. Maybe one of the songs you added last was corrupted or had something MFT couldn't handle. If that doesn't work try pulling the negative battery cable to reset everything.

Or their F150s........

That would be a whining noise, especially when accelerating hard. “You’re wasting gas!!!” “I don’t care!!!”

He wants the updates for free.

We’ve already been through this - that’s not for the US. Language choices are also French and Arabic.

Be aware that when you lease you don’t get the same incentives, so be sure to check the actual lease prices when doing comparisons.

LEDs don’t produce light like a bulb does and you need multiple elements working together. It’s just a completely different type of light.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

What does it do without the braking if you just nail the accelerator? -

It still should send enough torque to the rear in a hard launch to prevent the fronts from spinning too much. It can do that before spin actually occurs based on throttle input.
